When I was a teenager and when life was rough with the parents, I wanted to run away and live in a tree house: ( well being from Minnesota, I knew my chance of surveying the winter was not realistic.) As an adult I moved to WA state and on my first visit to Lake Quinault, I knew I had found my home in the trees.
Why Betty chose Grays Harbor County
Beautiful, comfortable, and peaceful
What makes this House unique
I love the Hydrangea plants, the hot pink roses on the fence, and all the beautiful colors of green.

A truly lovely and comfortable place in a beautiful setting
The house is very attractive and functional, with a well-equipped kitchen and very comfortable living/dining/sleeping spaces. There are beautiful views from the living and dining rooms. The upper level consists of a large master suite, with beautiful views of the lake, and a great space in which to relax. The house is situated on a lovely little cove and feels very private, but is also a very convenient base camp for hikes in the Quinault area, close to Kalaloch, an easy drive to Aberdeen for provisions, etc. The owner is very gracious and was a pleasure to work with. We stayed for 10 days in January and will be back for a longer stay another time.
Fantastic getaway to welcome the New Year!
The home and the lake front location is amazing, it was the perfect getaway for family and friends to celebrate my wife’s 40th birthday and to welcome the New Year. There were 8 adults and 4 kids total, but there was still plenty of room to accommodate more. The home is also wheelchair accessible, as my father-in-law was able to maneuver everywhere on the main level in his wheelchair. He was even able to go down to the waterfront, to join the rest of the family at the firepit! The home is situated in the Olympic National Park, directly on the waterfront on Quinault Lake. Driving in from 101 was easy and the one way lane to the lake house was secluded. From the outside the house looks deceivingly small, but was quaint and rustic with a lot of character. There was plenty of parking for our 4 cars and overflow parking for a few more. There’s a short path and steps to the front door, and the patio rail on the side also swings open for loading/ unloading and provides wheelchair access straight from the parking space, nice touch! The house is 2 stories, with almost everything on the main floor. Walking through the front door opens into a huge dining area (perfect for family gatherings), open upgraded kitchen, family room with fireplace, adjoining laundry room and upgraded half bath, and a hallway that leads to 3 bedrooms and a full bath, all on the main level. The dining room opens up to a large back deck through French doors, and the family room also opens to the deck through a set of smaller French doors. The entire side of the house facing the lake has a spectacular view from every angle through the French doors and large picture windows. There’s a path leading from the deck down to a grassy area where everyone can hang out around a firepit and a small drop to the water where we launched the kayaks stored underneath the deck. The second floor of the house is almost as big as the first floor but is reserved for the entire Master Suite with two large sitting areas and a large Master bath with a walk-in shower and claw foot tub. The view from the second floor is breath-taking and you must see to believe. The bed faces the lake seen through a set of French doors and large picture windows along the entire wall. The second floor of the lake house was worth it alone! No regrets choosing this property and hope to come back again. Family and friends had a great time and my wife will definitely have a 40th celebration to be remembered ...thank you, Betty!
Beautiful - right on the lake!
The cabin was the perfect size for our family. We spent the holidays here and were delighted to find it already decorated for Christmas. Absolutely recommend!
Great house, fabulous location
The house is perfect for a large family or group. The kitchen is well equipped for cooking meals for a group and the large dining room seats many. We were delighted that the house met all our expectations and was just as beautiful as the pictures on the website The owner was very responsive and helpful when we had any questions . We are hoping to go back again and would not hesitate to recommend ithis house to friends.
Beautiful Fall Cabin!
Who would have guessed that we would have July weather in October. We spent 5 glorious nights at Betty's cabin on the lake. It has everything that there is to offer. A fully stocked kitchen, 4 bedrooms, tile and wood floors and so still that you could hear a pin drop. There were 3 couples and one golden retriever and we had a wonderful time. The ocean is about a 40 minute drive away and there is hiking in every direction. I would highly recommend this place and I would stay again. Cheers!
The home is situated at one end of Lake Quinault with few residential properties. I especially enjoyed kayaking one misty morning when I encountered a pair of loons. Their call was captivating. It will be remembered as one of the highlights of my visit.
Lake Quinault is a Beautiful Glacier fed Lake in the Quinault Rain Forest (plenty of sun in the summer) and it is beautiful. Enjoy the outdoors, fresh air, and the Eagles soaring by. There are many shades of green here. It is all about the view, and nature. Sit on the deck and take a well deserved break from the fast lane, Perfect Romantic Getaway, Family Vacation, or a Solo Escape. You are always welcome at the Otters Cove Lake House
