About Ruth

My husband & I own the cabin along with my retired parents. My husband is busy as Principal of a K-8 charter school in the Denver area, so my parents and I are the primary managers of the property. My parents were linguists, living in Peru, South America, for over 40 years. I was an English/Writing teacher for years but now work part time out of our home. We love to get away to our mountain retreat and hope that you will enjoy the peaceful quiet as much as we do.

Ruth purchased this cabin in 2009

Why Ruth chose Front Range

My Great-Great Grandfather was a homesteader in Estes Park. Our branch of the family moved away from Colorado, but my father remembers spending summers in Estes park in the 1940's. Several of our family are living back in Colorado, and now we're thrilled to have a cabin in Estes Park where we can build memories with our children. In our completely unbiased opinion, Estes Park is the most beautiful year round vacation spot in the U.S.

What makes this cabin unique

Because the cabin faces Southeast, I love sitting in front of the picture window and watching the sun rise over the mountains. Likewise, the gazebo offers stunning views at sunset with the clouds turning pink and orange all around. And on full moon nights, the view is spectacular! The full kitchen and gas grill help to make life easy for us: eating dinner outside on the patio is always refreshing. Most afternoons, a family of deer meanders through the property on their way down the mountain. Our children love to climb the mountain behind the cabin and even play cellphone hide-and-seek among the trees, rocks, and outcroppings. As a family, we often walk the 20 minute trail skirting the mountain and ending up at the Moraine Park Museum. From there, we can take the summer shuttle bus almost anywhere in the Rocky Mountain National Park. Also a short walk away but at the bottom of the hill, we can take the free Estes Park shuttle bus into town in the summer and not worry about parking. Other times of year, we are a short 5 minute drive from downtown.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We have enjoyed wonderful days in the cabin in Estes Park and in the Rocky Mountain National Park with its magnificent scenery-- appreciated all the more when there is a comfortable "home-away-from-home" to return to in the evening. You have decorated and furnished it so great. Don't think you have missed anything.

Great cabin for a small group to enjoy Estes Park.

  • 4 of 5

While the cabin is small, it's well kept up and very cozy. A small group will absolutely love this cabin! It's only minutes away from downtown Estes, and even closer to the National Park. The owners are very responsive, and handle any issues that arise quickly and kindly. The beds have a really soft mattress pad or something that make them very comfortable. The kitchen is fairly spacious, and stocked with tons of cooking utensils, pans, etc. We had a fabulous week in Estes. Would stay again.

Great experience and location

  • 5 of 5

Very happy with our accommodations. The cabin is tucked behind a quaint resort with a beautiful view and friendly wild life (there are ground squirrels near the cabin that allow you to hand feed them). Pleasantly surprised to discover that the Estes Park shuttle has a stop at the end of the road (5 min walk). Enjoyed eating meals in the gazebo, kitchen was great for meal prep, beds are cozy and the bathroom appears to be recently updated.

Quiet and peaceful place to reenergize

  • 4 of 5

Wonderful home for us to stay after long days of hiking. The place stays cool even when it was in the 80's while hiking. Enjoyed our coffee in the morning and everything we needed to cook for ourselves was handy. Nice outdoor patio seating... separate from home. Only thing that would have made it better was some more comfortable seating. Thank you Ruth for a wonderful place to stay.

Comfortable cabin in a great location.

  • 5 of 5

This cabin has all the amenities and is comfortable. It's very close to a grocery and liquor store in one direction and the national park in the other direction. It's up a hill and out of downtown Estes Park. It's peaceful and quiet.

A Wonderful Get-Away

  • 5 of 5

We can't help it, but my husband and I just keep coming back to this great little cabin -- so many good memories have been made here.

The cabin is rustic on the outside and beautifully updated on the inside. It's in a quiet and scenic setting -- not in the middle of the downtown hustle and bustle but close enough to drive there for the shopping and restaurants. And it's just a short drive to the entrance to Rocky Mtn. Nat'l Park . . . or, there's a nearby trailhead where you can just hike into the park! Cozy and warm in the winter and "air conditioned" by mountain breezes in the summer it's the perfect get-away for any time of the year!

There is no better place to relax then on the side of Eagle Cliff Mountain! You can hike into the Rocky Mountain National Park or drive in without having to fight the tourist traffic in town. Eagle Cliff Mountain offers easy access to the YMCA of the Rockies, many nice restaurants and a small corner grocers, once again, without having to fight the tourist traffic in town.
