About the property

Two Cabins - each with one bedroom, one bathroom, and sleeper sofas

We are excited to welcome you to Estes Park, our little piece of paradise. We hope to provide you with an exceptional vacation experience.

This unique rental has two separate cabins on one property, each with one bedroom, one bath, and living area. The larger "Smiling Elk" has a full modern kitchen with a wonderful gas stove, full bath, queen bed, sleeper sofa, washer/dryer, and a wood-burning fireplace. Free wi-fi and a flat-screen TV with Direct TV complete the package. We provide all linens, towels, a stocked kitchen, and toiletries. The kitchen includes coffee, tea, paper goods, and all the dishes and cooking equipment you may need. There is also a crock pot so you can have dinner ready and waiting when you return from the day's activities.

The smaller and adorable "Little Bear" has a partial kitchen (sink, microwave, mini-fridge, coffee maker), 3/4 bath with tiled shower, two twin beds, and a sleeper sofa. This cabin also has a flat-screen TV and free internet.

This property is ideal for couples, friends, or small families. It is situated near the west side of town, with easy access to Rocky Mountain National Park, yet only three miles from downtown. Several restaurants, coffee shops, miniature golf, and groceries are within walking distance. A free shuttle to downtown stops at the resort next door every hour, so you could leave the driving to others and just enjoy the ride.

Enjoy a backyard BBQ on the gas grill, or visit Smokin' Dave's BBQ and Baba's Burgers, two local favorites. Coffee on the Rocks is open early if you prefer to have your coffee prepared for you. All of these are just down the street and around the corner. Country Market has groceries, gas, and great ice cream. The well-known Dunraven Inn restaurant is a short drive to the west, accessible without navigating the downtown traffic.

We are happy to answer any questions you may have about the Estes Park area and Rocky Mountain National Park, including local favorites, day hike suggestions, etc. Just give us a call before or during your stay. We want your vacation to be full of good memories, and will do what we can do to make that happen.

If these cabins aren't available the dates you desire, please check out our other property that's right downtown - VRBO # 471009 - Riverwalk Loft Condos.

We look forward to being your hosts in Estes Park!

About SCOTT THOMPSON

Scott and Karen Thompson live and work in Estes Park; Scott as a real estate consultant and Karen as an executive assistant at Town Hall. We have lived in Estes Park nine years, but like many, have been visiting the area since childhoood. We sincerely enjoy hosting guests from all over the world, and want to make sure they have great memories of their vacation here. The Estes Valley and Rocky Mountain National Park have so much to offer, and we are blessed to be able to live here year-round. Giving back to the community is important to us, and we especially enjoy volunteering for local events like the Estes Park Duck Race, Elk fest, and Catch the Glow Parade. We have two adult daughters and enjoy hiking and serving others in our spare time. The photo was taken from the summit of Longs Peak.

SCOTT THOMPSON purchased this cabin in 2014

Why SCOTT THOMPSON chose Front Range

We do our best to provide our guests with very clean accommodations, and will go the extra mile to make your stay special. It is our desire to make your stay with us so enjoyable that you will return, and feel comfortable referring your friends and relatives to stay at Little Bear Cottages or Riverwalk Loft Condos (VRBO 471009). We truly appreciate your patronage, and hope we have met all your needs.

What makes this cabin unique

Enjoy your morning coffee on the east-facing front porch, soaking up the Colorado sunshine. With close to 300 days of sunshine a year and a sky more blue than you'll ever see (and thousands of stars by night), Estes Park is full of natural beauty. Events in town are just minutes away (remember that free shuttle), and the entrance to Rocky Mountain National Park is less than two miles away.

Having two separate cabins allows couples or friends to have private accommodations, while being able to share meals and relax in either cabin. Older children would enjoy being independent in their "own" cabin, while the parents can supervise from a short distance away (+-50 feet) in the main residence.

Perfect home away from home!

  • 5 of 5

This home and location were just perfect for our needs. The two cabins were plenty of space for 4 adults to comfortably spread out, and could easily have accommodated more people, esp two families. We had all the basic amenities we needed, loved the little outdoor space with grill, and the ease of access with the key codes.

Scott was very responsive and super helpful in providing recommendations and answering questions before our arrival, and we ran into him twice during our stay and really enjoyed chatting with him for a few minutes. He was extremely friendly and welcoming.

The location of the cabins in Estes Park was perfect, less than a 5 minute drive to RMNP entrance, and I was able to walk to restaurants, gas station/conveniene store, coffee shop, donut place, etc in the morning.

One thing to note is the cabins don't have central air. This was not an issue for us during our stay in June and we just opened the windows at night to let in the cool air, and then closed up during the day to keep it cool inside. I could see this being a bit more of a problem in the peak of summer. I saw a portable heater and the cabins are cozy enough that it's probably easy to keep it warm when it's cold out!

I would highly recommend this home, plan on using it again if I'm ever back in Estes Park, and have already passed it on to a few coworkers who are looking for somewhere to stay in Estes Park this summer when they move their daughter to Denver for college!

Thanks Scott!

Owner's Response: We are so glad you enjoyed your visit and found everything to your liking. We really try hard to make sure every guest has all the amenities of home. We do have a window air conditioner in the Smiling Elk Cabin that was installed after you left. We don't keep it up year long as it's rarely needed. We live in Estes Park, don't have A/C and capture the cool air as you did. Little Bear seems to keep cooler and doesn't need an air conditioner. Please come back and visit us again.

Cute and cozy

  • 5 of 5

The location of this cabin was perfect in relation to town. Far enough removed and close enough at the same time. Minutes from town, shopping, restaurants and Rocky Mountain National Park. Our family of 4 had a great time here.

Excellent location and comfortable stay

  • 5 of 5

My family and I stayed at these cabins on our trip to Rocky Mountain National Park. The cabins were comfortable, clean, and well-stocked. What we really appreciated was the location - close to the national park and center of town.

Terrifc cabins!

  • 5 of 5

We had a blast in Estes Park and these cabins were in a perfect location. They were close to the entrance of RMNP and close to downtown Estes. One day a herd of elk were across the street. So exciting! The cabins were very clean and homey. We really loved having both cabins. Our teenage girls enjoyed having their own space. We would definitely stay there again.
