About the property

5 Star 2 BR Fully restored classic log cabin with great walkable location

Town of Estes Park Vacation Home License #978

All season Redemption Cabin is a "smart" historical cabin where its guests feel pampered and challenged, refreshed and inspired.

It affords travelers the unique opportunity to experience authentic mountain village life and endless outdoor adventure from one easily-accessible place.

Inside the cabin you are transported to a simpler, quieter time. It's a storybook experience of search and discovery. The cabin is cozy, comfortable and private. Without pretense, it presents first-class character at every detail.

Outdoors, a feeling of romantic loveliness permeates Redemption's crisp mountain air. You are caught in a poetic picture, an eloquent hymn, a sublime garden all arranged with infinite care, an ancient anthem composed to worship the creator. Fresh verses come to mind that renew and sustain. So many, in the likes of Emerson, Burroughs, Muir, Mills, Fogelberg, and their kindred, have been rendered speechless by the gentleness and grandeur of the surrounding snowcapped massifs and forested steeps, the deeply cut granite gorges and chaos canyons, the winding streams and hanging alpine lakes. You have never felt so strong and alive as from a rocky perch high in the sky. Always looking for the wind, always searching for the forks of uncertain trails below. Freedom like most never know.

Redemption Cabin is a "perfect mix of location and amenities." See what other guests say at the end of our introduction.

It is best suited for singles, couples, friends (up to 3 adults), and small families (up to 4) seeking adventure, revival, or natural escape.

Redemption resides in a picture perfect natural setting. Bright sunny mornings, moonlit evenings. The cabin is sheltered under the rocky crags and cliffs of Little Prospect Mountain (southern tip of downtown Estes Park) where the merger of two famous snow-fed mountain streams begins. The cabin is east riverside on the Big Thompson leg. The area is travelled on foot, by bikes, horse drawn carriages, cars, tubes, canoes, and kayaks.

It has a mature natural landscape with lumpy boulders and rocky ridges, old growth trees, dappled sunlight, singing birds, roaming wildlife, and rushing sounds of streams filled with rainbow trout and emerald water as clear and cold as the high-mountain glaciers that feed it. For more, read Redemption's Neighborhood.

The Cabin is fully stocked with important details. The kitchen, beds, bath and comfort amenities are all new. We provide all the essentials and more, pantry supplies, kitchen condiments, teas and coffee, luxury towels & linens, special lighting, and first class finishes throughout. Not to be missed, Rick also shares his private collection of navigational maps and adventure books, fly fishing gear, mountain bike, and top area picks.

The Hosts keep the cabin exceptionally clean, Eco-friendly, and smoke-free.

With Redemption, you also get a "great walkable location". Getting downtown is a simple downstream stroll along a cabin filled lane. There you will find the best of our local attractions, festivals, restaurants, coffee houses, wineries, craft beer breweries, retail shopping, green parks, outdoor concerts, riverwalks, hiking paths, and other exciting places to be active or quiet.

We invite you to experience Redemption and it's spectacular environment, unforgettable moments, and perfect rest. We will do all we can to insure your senses are ignited, body refreshed, heart rejuvenated, and your life perfectly reset; the promise of Redemption at its best.

Redemption's rates are discounted below comparable luxury properties.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us. We will respond within 24 hours. As always, you may email or call us directly to book safely, securely and accurately.

To reserve your time at Redemption Cabin, send us a short note about you and your traveling companions.

Redemption Cabin

Estes Park, CO

CABIN HISTORY- - - Circa 1914, Redemption Cabin has had a storied existence. It's living history. The cabin logs were harvested, hauled to site, cut, stacked, spiked & chinked into walls by pioneers in the likes of John Cleave, the Park's first permanent merchant, Enos Mills, the naturalist credited as the Father of Rocky Mountain National Park, and F.O. Stanley, the industrialist, co-inventor of the Stanley Steamer and visionary who had a big hand in shaping Estes Park as it is today. Despite all the change of the past 100 years, Redemption Cabin, shroud in nature's glory & simple humility, is still one of the most wild and beautiful places anywhere.

Both Redemption and RMNP just celebrated their 100 year anniversaries.

CABIN NEIGHBORHOOD - - - Redemption Cabin is in the midst of endless adventure, born out of a picture perfect one-of-a-kind prime natural setting. We have easy access to the best of Estes Park and the Rocky Mountain National Park and surrounding vicinity. It is located in the historic section of the Estes village. It backs up to the rocky crags and cliffs of Little Prospect Mountain and fronts the last bend of the Big Thompson River before it becomes one with the Fall River shortly downstream. Both rivers are sparkling snow-fed streams that have their beginnings high up on the snowy Continental Peaks. Spring run-off peaks between June 6 and the 13th. The rivers flow to the sound of rushing water all year round. Energetic rainbow trout school in sandy holes above and below.

This Mountain Life is walkable in every direction. Getting to the Downtown Commercial District and the best venues and restaurants Estes Park has to offer is a downstream stroll north along a cabin filled lane. The Historic Clatworthy Studio, Aerial Tramway to the peak of Prospect Mountain, and Eagles Landing Restaurant are upstream to our immediate South. Piccadilly Square, Rock Cut Tap House, Estes Angler, Hunan’s Chinese Restaurant, Day Salon, Fun City, the Donut Haus, Sweet Basilico Italian Restaurant, Rock Climbing School, Estes Park Microbrewery, out door climbing gym, Smokin' Dave’s BBQ and more are another short walk up and around the bend.

Entrance into Rocky Mountain National Park, its wilderness, alpine lakes, trails and more spectacular scenery is just a few miles west.

Good times are all around. Great mountain vistas also surround. Backyard or back country, wildlife is unsurpassed --- colorful trout, song birds, chipmunks, rabbits, raptors, bobcat, turkey, deer, elk, black bear & moose all hang around.

… Estes Park is a relaxing high mountain resort famous for its parks, cascading rivers, wildlife viewing, heart pounding vistas, outdoor recreation, good times & family friendly values. It is the only place you need to go to enjoy a vacation of a lifetime. It is a unique small town that can put you in touch with big nature and real Colorado. Each season is flush with magnificent days.

… Rocky Mountain National Park is one of America’s crown jewels and offers endless exploring, hiking, backpacking, camping, fly fishing, rock climbing, wildlife viewing, photo taking, snowshoeing, and back country skiing.

About Cheryl Grigsby

Rick & Cheryl Grigsby first discovered Estes Park in 1983 and returned year after year whenever they could. During the Fall of 1997, they moved to the Estes Valley on sabbatical from 'private practice' in Texas & Oklahoma. Curiously, they never went back; at least not on their love for the Park's picture-perfect natural settings and diverse backdrops for their adventure-filled faith-based lives.

Cheryl raised their 3 kids and exercised her gift of teaching. By late 2000, they had designed & built a mountain home exacting to its rocky terrain and their growing young family. Each day began with a new morning. By the Spring of 2009, Rocky Mountain Memories had taken physical form. After the Park Theatre Fire, and then again after the 2013 Estes Park Floods, they rebuilt. Like RMM, Redemption Cabin represents their creativity, attention to detail, gifts of hospitality and faith.

Rick and Cheryl will serve as your caretakers and guides. He is an avid hiker. She is artsy. They both are creative.

Cheryl Grigsby purchased this cabin in 2011

Why Cheryl Grigsby chose Front Range

Cozy Historic Cabin

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I made a last minute trip to Estes Park for Thanksgiving and to enjoy the holiday festivities. We chose the cabin for its location but fell in love with the cabin itself. It is beautifully decorated, had everything we needed & had the most comfortable bed! In the evening we watched their dvd's about Rocky Mountain National Park & the movie Dumb & Dumber - that features The Stanley Hotel. You can hear the river, that's just across the street, when outside. If it has been a warmer time of year we would've spent time sitting outside to enjoy the sights and sounds more. Each day we watched deer outside of the cabin and/or walking down the street in front of the cabin. The owners were wonderful! Rick met us at the cabin when we arrived in town to welcome us and to answer any questions that we had. Rick and his wife Cheryl were always available to answer any questions that we had. Cheryl even texted me to advise of "Festive Friday". On Friday we walked to the Riverwalk/Downtown where my husband enjoyed the IA/NE football game at The Wheel while I strolled downtown & did a little shopping. The cabin is so close to the Riverwalk that I was able to walk my purchases back to the cabin & then back downtown for the Glow Parade. We had one of the best parking spots for the parade! I would highly recommend this cabin to any of our friends or family. Thank you again Rick and Cheryl!

Lovely Clean, Quaint Cabin

  • 5 of 5

Wonderful stay at Redemption Cabin. Cabin is so cute and was perfect for our family of 4 - thank you for providing some kid movies and books! Extremely comfortable linens! Our hike up the rocks in the back was adventurous right from the start. The road is busy out front but still so convenient to walk to downtown Estes. Thanks for some of the extras in the fridge and pantry as well! Since I do a lot of cooking I would recommend some tupperware, sharp knives and a glass measuring cup but we managed. You have a sweet little place!

Cozy, inviting, very easy walk to main strip

  • 5 of 5

We had a lovely stay here. The cabin is beautiful, very comfortable and plenty of space. It was just my husband and I and it was nice to spread out more than a hotel room. The kitchen is well-equipped. Probably the only thing we could have used was a baking sheet, but aluminum foil worked just fine!

It is a very quick walk to all the shops and restaurants. You can take a beautiful path along the river. It is also a quick drive to RMNP. It was great because my husband could drive to the park and go on long hikes while I could enjoy the shops and beautiful town.

We really hope to come back again some day! The hosts are excellent, so friendly and helpful. Thank you!

Unique cabin experience

  • 4 of 5

This cabin is unique because it combines the old feel and charm with comfort and upscale convenience. It is in a great location for exploring the river walk area of Estes Park. Rick and Cheryl were great hosts and offered suggestions and stories about the area. I would give it five stars if the parking area wasn't under a tree that dropped pine gum on our car.

Great Retreat at Redemption

  • 5 of 5

Redemption Cabin has a great location whether strolling to downtown Estes Park or heading for a rejuvenating hike in the National Park. Rick and Cheryl met us when we arrived as gracious hosts willing to get your visit to Estes on the right step. Both energetic and enthused about the area, Rick and Cheryl genuinely want their guests to have a comfortable, enjoyable stay. As my 15 year old daughter said, "the cabin is perfect." It is perfect for a small family of 4. A novel residence within walking distance to dining of any taste and more than enough shopping. The cabin is well equipped and extremely clean. Tastefully decorated, it is a pleasant place to share a meal, discuss plans for the week, peruse maps and plenty of books about the Colorado area. Our time was too short, but wonderful. We definitely recommend Redemption Cabin with gracious hosts in Rick and Cheryl!!!

Redemption Cabin is where rustic meets comfort. The accommodations are thoughtfully furnished, right down to a great play list. You can easily walk to downtown from this location. Overall, the rental transaction was one of the easiest & most pleasant that we've experienced in all the years we've been coming to these mountains.

Notes:
Estes is all about the sights & sounds of its two spectacular rivers and mountain top adventures. Redemption Cabin is one of the best sites to experience them all. The headwaters of the Big Thompson River begin in Forest Canyon within Rocky Mountain National Park. The river flows east through Moraine Park to the town of Estes Park. Bending north just before it reaches Redemption, it heads to the center of Town. Then at Confluence Park it bends back East, and together with Fall River, gives the beautiful Riverwalk its name. About a ½ a mile on, its waters are held in Lake Estes by the Olympus Dam before being released into the Big Thompson Canyon. We are also a Home of Champions. Estes Park’s first state champion tree, a balsam poplar (Populus Balsamifera) stands just outside on an open bank of the Big Thompson River. Fall colors are spectacular.
