ALL SEASON Redemption Cabin is a smart historical cabin where its guests feel pampered and challenged, refreshed and inspired.

It affords travelers the unique opportunity to experience authentic mountain village life and endless outdoor adventure from one easily-accessible place.

Inside the cabin you are transported to a simpler, quieter time. It's a storybook experience of search and discovery. The cabin is very cozy, comfortable, and private. Without pretense, it presents first-class character at every detail.

Redemption Cabin is a "perfect mix of location and amenities." See Reviews for more what past guests say.

It is best suited for singles, couples, friends (up to 3 adults), and small families (up to 4) seeking adventure, river walking, hiking, mountaineering, fly-fishing, biking, snowshoeing, back country skiing; and renewal, revival, and natural escape.

Redemption resides in a picture perfect natural setting. Bright sunny mornings, moonlit evenings. The cabin is sheltered under the rocky crags and cliffs of Little Prospect Mountain (at southern outskirts of downtown Estes Park) where the merger of two famous snow-fed mountain streams begins. Redemption is on the east side the Big Thompson River as it enters downtown. The area is travelled by foot, bikes, horse drawn carriages, cars, tubes, canoes, and kayaks.

Outdoors, a feeling of romantic loveliness permeates Redemption's crisp mountain air. Guests experience a perfect location, a poetic picture, an eloquent hymn, a sublime garden all arranged with infinite care, even an ancient anthem composed by its creator. They are renewed and sustained by the gentleness and grandeur of the surrounding snowcapped massifs and forested steeps, the granite gorges and chaos canyons, the winding streams and alpine lakes. Never feeling so strong and alive.

It has a mature natural landscape with lumpy boulders and rocky ridges, old growth trees, dappled sunlight, singing birds, roaming wildlife, and rushing sounds of streams filled with rainbow trout with emerald water as clear and cold as the high-mountain glaciers that feed them. For more, see Redemption's Neighborhood.

The Cabin is fully stocked with important details. The kitchen, beds, bath and comfort amenities are all high quality and like new. We provide pantry supplies, kitchen condiments, teas and coffee, luxury towels & linens, special lighting, and first class finishes throughout. Not to be missed, hosts share their private collection of navigational maps and adventure books, fly fishing gear, mountain bike, grill, and top area picks.

The Hosts keep the cabin exceptionally clean, Eco-friendly, and smoke-free.

With Redemption, you also get a great walkable location. Getting downtown is a simple downstream stroll along a cabin filled lane. There you will find the best of Estes Park's local attractions, festivals, restaurants, coffee houses, wineries, craft beer breweries, retail shopping, green parks, outdoor concerts, riverwalks, hiking paths, and other exciting places to be active or quiet.

We invite you to experience Redemption and it's spectacular environment, unforgettable moments, and perfect rest. We will do all we can to insure your senses are ignited, body refreshed, heart rejuvenated, and your life perfectly reset; the promise of Redemption at its best.

Redemption Cabin

Estes Park, CO

CABIN HISTORY- - - Circa 1914, Redemption Cabin has had a storied existence. It's living history. The cabin logs were harvested, hauled to site, cut, stacked, spiked & chinked into walls by pioneers in the likes of John Cleave, the Park's first permanent merchant, Enos Mills, the naturalist credited as the Father of Rocky Mountain National Park, and F.O. Stanley, the industrialist, co-inventor of the Stanley Steamer and visionary who had a big hand in shaping Estes Park as it is today. Despite all the change of the past 100 years, Redemption Cabin, shroud in nature's glory & simple humility, is still one of the most wild and beautiful places anywhere.

Both Redemption and RMNP just celebrated their 100 year anniversaries.

CABIN NEIGHBORHOOD - - - Redemption Cabin is in the midst of endless adventure and born out of a picture perfect one-of-a-kind prime natural setting. The Cabin has easy access to the best of Estes Park and the Rocky Mountain National Park and surrounding vicinity. It is located in the historic section of the Estes village. It backs up to the rocky crags and cliffs of Little Prospect Mountain and fronts the last bend of the Big Thompson River just before it becomes one with the Fall River downstream. Both rivers are sparkling snow-fed streams that have their beginnings high up on the snowy Continental Peaks of the Rocky Mountains. Spring run-off peaks between June 6 and the 13th. The rivers flow to the sound of rushing water all year round. Energetic rainbow trout school in sandy holes just across the narrow street.

Redemption Cabin is walkable in every direction. Getting to the Downtown Commercial District and the best venues and restaurants Estes Park has to offer is a downstream stroll north along a cabin filled lane. The Historic Clatworthy Studio, Aerial Tramway to the peak of Prospect Mountain, and Eagles Landing Restaurant are upstream to our immediate South. Piccadilly Square, Rock Cut Tap House, Estes Angler, Hunan’s Chinese Restaurant, Day Salon, Fun City, the Donut Haus, Sweet Basilico Italian Restaurant, Rock Climbing School, Estes Park Microbrewery, out door climbing park, Smokin' Dave’s BBQ and more are another short walk up and around the bend.

Entrance into Rocky Mountain National Park, its wilderness, alpine lakes, trails and more spectacular scenery is just a few miles west.

Good times are all around. Great mountain vistas also surround. Backyard or back country, wildlife is unsurpassed --- colorful trout, song birds, chipmunks, rabbits, raptors, bobcat, turkey, deer, elk, black bear & moose all hang around.

… Estes Park is a relaxing high mountain resort famous for its parks, cascading rivers, wildlife viewing, heart pounding vistas, outdoor recreation, good times & family friendly values. It is the only place you need to go to enjoy a vacation of a lifetime. It is a unique small town that can put you in touch with big nature and real Colorado. Each season is flush with magnificent days.

… Rocky Mountain National Park is one of America’s crown jewels and offers endless exploring, hiking, backpacking, camping, fly fishing, rock climbing, wildlife viewing, photo taking, snowshoeing, and back country skiing.

About Cheryl Grigsby

Rick & Cheryl Grigsby first discovered Estes Park in 1983 and returned year after year whenever they could. During the Fall of 1997, they moved to the Estes Valley on sabbatical from 'private practice' in Texas & Oklahoma. Curiously, they never went back; at least not on their love for the Park's picture-perfect natural settings and diverse backdrops for their adventure-filled faith-based lives.

Cheryl raised their 3 kids and exercised her gift of teaching. By late 2000, they had designed & built a mountain home exacting to its rocky terrain and their growing young family. Each day began with a new morning. By the Spring of 2009, Rocky Mountain Memories had taken physical form. After the Park Theatre Fire, and then again after the 2013 Estes Park Floods, they rebuilt. Like RMM, Redemption Cabin represents their creativity, attention to detail, gifts of hospitality and faith.

Rick and Cheryl will serve as your caretakers and guides. He is an avid hiker. She is artsy. They both are creative.

Cheryl Grigsby purchased this cabin in 2011

Why Cheryl Grigsby chose Estes Park

Estes is all about the sights & sounds of its two spectacular rivers and mountain top adventures. Redemption Cabin is the top spot to experience them all. The headwaters of the Big Thompson River begin in Forest Canyon within Rocky Mountain National Park. The river flows east through Moraine Park to the town of Estes Park. Bending north just before it reaches Redemption Cabin, it heads to the center of Town. Then at Confluence Park it bends back East, and together with Fall River, gives the beautiful Riverwalk its name. About a ½ a mile on, its waters are held in Lake Estes by the Olympus Dam before being released into the Big Thompson Canyon. We are also a Home of Champions. Estes Park’s state champion tree, a balsam poplar (Populus Balsamifera) stands just outside on an open bank of the Big Thompson River. Fall colors are spectacular.

Close to everything but away from it all!

  • 5 of 5

This cabin was just what we were looking for! We were impressed by how well appointed it was. Rick and Cheryl really thought of everything. It takes you back in time, while having every modern convencince. I was very appreciative of the strong water pressure and extra hot water!

Within walking distance you've got plenty of coffee shops, restaurants, shopping, and breweries! The River Walk is basically right out your door and is a beautiful addition to Estes Park.

Rick gave us plenty of ideas for hiking in Rocky and pointed us to the collection of maps and books in the cabin. Rick and Cheryl are incredibly accommodating and worked with us on an early check-in. We will definitely stay here again next time we are in Estes Park. Thank you both!

Cute Cabin

  • 4 of 5

Overall we were very pleased with Redemption Cabin. Owners Cheryl and Rick take great pride in the cabin and it was spotless when we arrived. Each room had 'homey antiques' that gave it character and charm. The master bed was very comfortable to sleep on and the tankless water heater provide all the hot water we needed. Rick made himself available at check-in to ensure we were familiar with the cabin and nearby offerings. Main Street (Elkhorn) is a 5 minute walk, and Safeway is a 5 minute drive. The cabin provided spices, pots, and dishware to meet all of our needs. WiFi was outstanding and we used it daily on our tablets....but there is no TV service (only DVDs). Since we were either at RMNP or downtown Estes this was not a problem, but others might find that a problem. One morning we heard an Elk bugle and were able to see the male and his 15 elk harem just 3 cabins down....they had taken up feeding at a local park area and stayed for over an hour while visitors photographed and enjoyed them (from a distance). If looking for charm, 'coziness', proximity to RMNP, and caring owners, then Redemption cabin is definitely the place to stay.
