Having a place that so accommodating in so many areas makes this the perfect opportunity to truly relax. The host has provided a fully stocked kitchen, complete with great array of spices as well as baking pans, glass storage containers and thoughtful starter supply of paper goods, dish soap etc. Feels more like home than a rental! Great porch with 280 degree (?) water view:)Want a laid back time and retreat? / This is it!
This was our second visit to the Rivah House. It was so nice, we tried it twice! Despite the fact that a Nor'easter hit the shores somewhat unexpectedly, we snuggled by the fire, played games and caught up on movies. For us, this will be an annual stay for sure. You won't find a better waterfront rental in the Potomac/Chesapeake Bay area that has it ALL! This property is second to none!Linda and Pastor Milt
This property is fabulous! Would rate above a 10 if it were possible. Comfortable, peaceful, with all the whistles and bells. Hubby caught lots of fish while I soaked in hot tub under the stars. Finally, the host, Chris is the best!
We had a wonderful stay at this property. The place was spotlessly clean, and the quiet, peaceful setting made it easy to relax and unwind. The screened-in deck ended up being where we spent most of our time — relaxing there with the great view and a nice breeze was a highlight for the whole family. Waking up to the water each morning was another bonus. The host deserves special mention — incredibly responsive, answering any question we had within minutes. It made the whole experience seamless and stress-free. We'd happily stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a calm, scenic getaway.

Thank you for choosing our home. Looks like you captured some pictures. We find that water, wind and climate is always changing. We too enjoy when a nice wind sets the mood for relaxing. I added a new hammock stand to house, hope you come back to try it out.
My wife and I needed some time to ourselves and after a careful search we decided that this property looked like the one we needed. It indeed was the one- in capital letters! Hot tub (spotless), fire pit, pier for crabbing and fishing, large screened porch with swinging day bed(how cool) and birds galore. (Cormorants, ospreys, and eagles were ever present - what a show). Host Chris was very helpful in correcting a problem of our own making with the hot tub. He seemed genuinely interested in our well being. We highly recommend and hope to return.
We had the most wonderful time, and will definitely be heading back. The entire house felt like a comfortable home away from home and the views were just incredible. We were there with our two grown sons and their gfs, no one wanted to leave. Fishing and relaxing on the dock was perfection! We saw stingray, cranes, crabs, a lot of fish and a family of osprey. One of our favorites family vacations!! Thank you to the Roberts for sharing their beautiful home.

So glad you got to spend time with family. If the fish aren’t biting, we just like relaxing on the dock and enjoying company. Looks like you found some crabs and had a good feast. Sunsets on the screen porch and crab feast, sounds like a good memory.
If you’re looking for a place to relax, this is it. I stayed for 5 days with my husband and parents and it was so nice! Water views and nature all around, this location is perfect for getting away from it all. Very remote, not much to do in the area, besides enjoying what the house has to offer! Quiet neighborhood and gorgeous views, perfect for connection, reading, napping…I hated to leave!

Wow. Thank you for sharing. You captured it perfectly “gorgeous views, perfect for connection, reading, napping.“ The Rivah house is still our home away home when we want to get away, and we are glad to share the experience with guests. We truly wanted something remote, quiet and away from it all. Glad you found us.
Our family of five just returned from a stay at this beautiful, relaxing property! Everything from the check in, to the cleanliness, to the views was nothing short of excellent. The host, Chris was very responsive and friendly. The kitchen and house was well stocked with everything we needed. The beds were very comfortable and we absolutely loved the large screened in porch and spent most of our time there! Our kids range in age from 4 to 15 and they loved the board games, kayaks and hot tub. The last two days we were there, the water was extremely clear and a beautiful blue/green color. We even saw tons of rays swimming around the dock. It truly felt like we were somewhere tropical instead of on a river in Virginia. Thank you for sharing your gorgeous property with us for our family vacation. We can’t wait to come back!

Thank you so much for sharing your experience! And great photos! We love that you experienced what makes the Rivah so special—the ever-changing water, wide-open views, wildlife, and that magical blue-green water that can make you feel like you’ve escaped to a tropical island. The area included has moods and is always changing. We’re so glad your family enjoyed the kayaks, dock, screened porch, and hot tub, and we’d love to welcome you back for another true getaway!
Amazing water views. We stayed on the porch and dock for the majority of our stay. Well equipped kitchen and we loved eating on the screened in porch. That was our favorite place at night too. Hearing the water as we played mahjong was magical. We tried several restaurants and we all thought the Horn Harbor Restaurant was worth the 30? minute drive!

Thank you for sharing about your stay. We have worked hard to make the Rivah house comfortable and suitable for relaxation. Glad you got to explore and experience some good restaurants in the area.
We had an amazing stay! The house is beautiful and had everything we needed and more. Everything was very easy to find. My favorite was sitting outside, enjoying a nice breeze, and watching the sun set every night. We can not wait to come back.
This home was fabulous for a quiet, relaxing weekend with family and friends. Perfect for young kids with a big yard, nice sand beach, and a great screened porch! Fabulous views from every angle and a well equipped kitchen.
The local food options were surprisingly good, Cygnets and the Mexican restaurant were our favorites. The house is very private with amazing views over the bay. The “swinging couch” on the porch was certainly a highlight. Recommend for anyone looking for a waterfront getaway.
Our second stay at this property and we enjoyed ourselves as much as the first time. House is very well appointed, comfortable beds, stocked kitchen and nice furniture. We utilized the dock, fire pit and screened in porch every day of our stay. Good local restaurants, quick drive to wineries, breweries and other local attractions. We love The Roberts Rivah house.
Chris, thank you for sharing your home with us. Great place to stay. Beautiful waterfront home. Clean, comfortable furniture and beds. All the amenities you could want. The owner was incredibly accommodating.
This property location is fantastic- and the amenities are outstanding. A day bed swing on the porch, a hot tub, and what a view.
One unique aspect of the property is unobstructed view- there are no neighbors to the left of the property!
It’s a stunning, special location. Can’t wait to go back!
We absolutely loved this house. It was very clean and well maintained. The kitchen had everything we needed and was just upgraded. The porch and dock were perfect and beautiful. The kids fished and played in the sand. We loved going in and out of the hot tub. It was a great spring break getaway for our family. We would definitly recommend this house!
This property was even better than described. Everything was clean, the beds and furniture were extremely comfortable. The back porch was awesome with great views saw several bald eagles overall a great stay, it would have been nice if mother nature would have been more cooperative it was cloudy and windy with rough water that made outdoor activities limited but will definitely plan on a return visit next year.
Spent the week fishing on the pier, swimming and hot tubbing. This house is fully stocked with everything you could think of. The area was great. The ladies running Brauhgan’s Seafood were so nice. I would send anyone there. Owners were very nice to deal with.
The house is very comfortable and well set up for a relaxing vacation. The kitchen is well equipped to make meals and provides a comfortable setting to enjoy family dinners. The living room has a large sectional to relax on inside. The bedrooms were nice and the beds were comfortable. The AC worked well. The screened porch offers beautiful views of the water and plenty of comfortable seating. The Wi-Fi worked great with no internet issues. We also enjoyed the hot tub, which was clean and easy to operate. The dock is where we spent our days fishing and crabbing. We caught many, many crabs and a few fish. We brought collapsible baskets for the crabs, and once caught, we stored them in the crab traps provided by the owner until we were ready to steam them. There was a long hose with fresh water that we pulled to the dock to clean our hands after handling the fish.Food Lion is about a 15-minute drive away. The area is very peaceful and tranquil—a perfect place to relax. Besides fishing, we enjoyed watching the hummingbirds right by the house, taking in the sunrise, and watching a crazy thunderstorm on our last night. We visited Hughlett Point Natural Area Preserve and stopped by Kilmarnock Antique Gallery, which we highly recommend if you are in the area. Overall, we had a great time!

Thank you for such a thoughtful review! We’re so glad you enjoyed the comfort of the house, the screened porch, and—most of all—the ever-changing views and peaceful beauty of being right on the water. We’ve invested a lot in making the Rivah comfortable and well-appointed for our guests, from the furnishings and amenities to the little touches like our new hummingbird feeders. We also love that you explored the area, and we’ll be adding Hughlett Point to our guest book recommendations. We’d love to welcome you back for another Rivah getaway!
