Hard to beat that view, Michael, and we never get tired of it either. Glad the apartment had what you needed. Come on back and stay a little longer next time.
We had a great time at this property. Yes, the property is aged but has great charm. Great value to be directly on the beach and very well stocked with floats, chairs, beach toys and carts to carry out all. Will definitely say again.

Aged is fair, Larry, we will not argue. The house turned a hundred and we are working on it steadily while trying to keep the character that makes people like it. Glad the carts, floats and chairs got some use, that is why they are there. Come back and see us.
Life is made simple. We just enjoyed living for even a few days on the beach.

"Life is made simple." Jeffrey, that may be the best description of this place anyone has written, and we may borrow it. A few days of nothing but the water is the point. Come back and stay longer next time.
We had a good stay. The mattress needs replaced. It was like sleeping on an uneven barn floor. We were able to sleep with the windows open and hear the ocean all night which was awesome. We brought our own pillows which was a big plus , because the pillows provided were dirty. They smelled like someones dirty unwashed head and had stains on them. Those were the only two things that were horrible. The bathroom floor was sticky , which was weird. We wore our slippers inside after that.

Cindy, the pillows are the part I cannot let stand. Stained, and smelling like somebody else's head, that is a housekeeping failure with no excuse attached to it, and the sticky bathroom floor is the same story. We have since dealt with the pillows and with that mattress. I am glad the windows still open and that you got the sound of the Gulf all night, that is the one thing about this old house we would never trade away.

Last minute pick.
We were happy to find a spot to extend our Florida stay for 1 more week. The unit itself was very clean, but in need of some TLC. I have to say that it was well equipped and the location and view could not be beat. Though there were many beach chairs and outdoor seating available, the property is clearly in need of some purging. There was an issue with the hot water in the kitchen and bathroom sink. The owner was quick to respond but we agreed to make due as there was hot water in the shower and we had no desire to sit around and wait for the plumber.Overall we enjoyed our stay.

Jenny, thank you for a fair read. You are right that the property needs purging, we have collected beach chairs, umbrellas and odds and ends for decades and it got away from us. Sorry about the hot water at the kitchen and bathroom sinks. This is an old house and as we explained it takes a few minutes for the hot water to reach. You should not have had to make do on your own vacation. Glad the view, the beach gear and the kitchen held up, and glad you got that extra Florida week.

Lack of communication.
We never received our information needed for arrival. Called the number provided to us and we were told they didn’t handle the property anymore. The gentleman was very kind to give us the owners number. As Curtis said to us, “You are very lucky to reach me as I am hiking with my family and cell reception is very poor in some of the canyons in Colorado. I guess we were lucky. I try not to run with my luck and our need for the information was necessary for our stay. Work to be done. Location is the best. Beach is beautiful and we did have a nice time. When we try to get away from stress, it was a shaky start at best.

Jeffrey, you should never have pulled up without your arrival information, and you certainly should not have had to work through a phone number that no longer went anywhere and a bad canyon signal to get it. That was our failure during a change in management, and it is a lousy start to a week you drove a long way for. We have since improved our check-in process so arrival information goes out automatically and does not depend on anyone answering a phone. I am glad the beach still came through for you, and if you give us another try I will make sure the arrival end of it is boring and easy. Curtis
Perfect beach location. The house is older and shows some wear and tear but the room was clean and had all the essentials. Worth it to be a few steps from the sand.

Thank you Kyle. The house has been taking salt air since 1925. Clean and fully stocked is the part we do not let slip, so I am glad that came through. A few steps from the sand is the whole trade, and we think it is worth it too. Come see us again. Wes
Five stars with no words at all still makes our morning, Jonathon. Thank you for staying with us at the old house. The door is open whenever you want the beach again.

I grew up here living with my grandparents. They bought Sun N Fun for $28,000 in 1968, My wife Kathy and I bought it from them for $335,000 in 1998 so they could retire. As Tampa grew the rich and famous have discovered our unique Gulf to Bay location on the island. Sending property values soaring and with that a $43,000 property tax bill. Stay here and know you are helping to save these treasures from Old Florida.
Why they chose this property
Boyhood home. Good memories of sun, sand, and surf. Indian Rocks Beach is a small seaside community with good restaurants, vacation rentals from the 1920's and a vibe that brings you back year after year.
What makes this property unique
Florida Gulf Coast beachfront rentals at Grandma’s island beach house from the summer of 1925. The large home and carriage house are now converted into 6 Gulf front villas featuring full kitchens, pillow top beds, and fantastic views. Awarded one of the highest scores on the beach by Superior Small Lodging. Kids love an old place surrounded by water. We are small and personable. Gulf of Mexico and private white sand beach are right out your door. Wade out to the shallow sandbar to explore for shells and sand dollars. Or walk across the street to watch the yachts go by and fish in the bay. Old Timers call this part of the island "The Narrows" where the sand is just wide enough for a single row of homes.
