Honeoye Lake House is located on the eastern shore of Honeoye Lake close to the New York State public boat launch. The house is tucked away on a private neighborhood drive. Plenty of parking is available in the driveway and on the road for cars or a boat trailer..

Enter this beautiful four bedroom year round home (fully winterized with base board electric heat) through the fully enclosed cedar wood porch with two bright skylights. The porch is the game room, which has pool table and dart board to entertain your friends and kids for hours, if the days are filled with rain. Large windows and sliding doors in the living and dining areas provide scenic views of the lake. The living room offers a wood burning stove and a television set with cable, a DVD and VCR (and WI-FI internet access). The dining area provides seating for 6 facing the lake. The living room has large glass sliding doors to the deck, which offers a gas grill, additional outdoor dining space for 8, and stairs to the large back lawn with 65 feet of level lake frontage. An open kitchen is well equipped and is arranged to provide a fantastic view of the outdoors as well as open up to the dining and living rooms. Off the kitchen area, you will find the laundry room with full washer and dryer along with a full bathroom with shower/tub.

In the back of the home, there are four bedrooms. One bedroom has a king bed and is tastefully decorated in cottage decor. The other two bedrooms offer a queen bed and a double bed. A large den (the fourth bedroom) has a bunk bed that comfortably sleeps two children (or adults) along with their own television with cable. In addition the den has a twin pullout couch and double pullout couch. The den can sleep four individuals with their own bed. The living room also has a couch that converts into a double bed for additional sleeping space for guests. The back full bathroom offers a separate double sink vanity and a shower stall.

About David Henion

This has been a family summer home for 35 years. We only use the property a few weeks a year now as our family has grown and many are living in other parts of the country. We hope you can create as many good memories as we have over the years with all of the fun at our lake front home. All the best-- The Henion Family.

David Henion purchased this house in 1982

Why David Henion chose Honeoye

Perfect For All Four Seasons

Spring and Fall are perfect for wine tours. The wineries in Naples make this home a good starting point. Other Finger Lakes wineries are easily accessible from this location. The Canandaigua Wine Trail and the Seneca Lake Wine Trail offer tastings all year.

Summer on Honeoye Lake can be enjoyed relaxing on the lawn, dock, patios and deck of this home. Make an evening camp fire on the shore with firewood that you can use. Trident Marine (tridentmarine . com) is located north of the home right on the lake, making it easy to rent a boat for the week or a day. The southern end of this lake offers beautiful areas to canoe or kayak through, and bird watchers will find all sorts of wonders in this area. The lake offers endless swimming opportunities. You can swim off of the dock or visit the north end of the lake at Sandy Bottom Beach (a public access park with a volley ball court) .

Roseland Waterpark is the largest Waterpark (roselandwaterpark . com) in the Finger Lakes Region with 56 acres of aquatic adventure for the entire family is about a 20 minute drive. Sparkling heated water, certified lifeguards, free parking, rental lockers, concessions and plenty of deck space for relaxing make this the hottest spot to get cool during the summer months.

Winter is perfect for skating, snowmobiling, cross country skiing and ice fishing can be done in the back yard. Alpine skiing and snowboarding at Bristol Mt. is just a 20 minute drive. Also, Hunt Hollow Ski Club is 10 minutes from the house. The winter festivals are for family fun-just because the snow is flying, don't think there's nothing to do in the Finger Lakes. Experience ice sculptures by Mother Nature as waterfalls take beautiful new shapes. Awake to ice coated trees reflecting the rising sun and a frozen lake for ice fishing. Enjoy the less hurried pace, sample New York wines, enjoy the beautiful house and get to know the wonderful Finger Lakes in the winter.

What makes this house unique

The level lawn leading to the water’s edge also provides a lakeside fire pit, outdoor wooden patio furniture that seats seven people by a cozy campfire, along with a lakeside picnic table. The shoreline offers a westward facing view for plenty of sun in the afternoon and a beautiful sunset in the evening. Landscaping provides beautiful shrubs and plants to enhance the view throughout the year. The back yard has a level lawn, which is perfect for family games of tag or catch. Bring your family out on the dock for spectacular views of the lake and rolling hills. The dock offers an “L” shaped extension on the end for easy boat mooring and two person bench and a picnic table to enjoy a morning cup of coffee. For an optional additional fee, you can keep your boat under the canopy in the hoist and/or rent our Jet Ski for your family to use on their vacation. Also, the cottage has two kayaks and a paddle boat you can use to get out on the water. Life vests of all sizes are available to use in the front closet.

Honeoye Lake House is located between the towns of Honeoye and Naples, making it a great vacation rental choice in any season. Cummings Nature Center and Harriet Hollister State Park offer fantastic hiking for outdoor enthusiasts. Spring and Fall are perfect for wine tours. The two wineries in Naples make this home a good starting point. Other Finger Lakes wineries are easily accessible from this location. The Canandaigua Wine Trail and the Seneca Lake Wine Trail offer tastings all year.

Guestbook comments from the owner

The check in procedures. Our family has been renting our lake house for over three years now. We have had many kind responses and repeat visitors over that time. Thank you!! We typically send house access instructions to you one week before you occupy the home. We have never missed sending out access instructions, key code information and check out procedures to any renter. The e-mail address that we use to send this information is the one you provided when you sent the request to us via the website. If you have changed your e-mail address in the interim or you use another personal, spousal, family or work email e-mail address more frequently, I have no record of other addresses. If you change your e-mail address after you book the property you will not receive the check-in instructions without notifying or calling me. Please bring me up-to-date with any e-mail changes so I can send the information to the correct address. In addition, the professional cleaning service may be present when you check in and they will be happy to review the lock box procedures and check in procedures with you. In addition, my neighbor at the lake on the left (facing the water) maintains our home. He is a full time resident and has the codes for check in and can fix minor problems if they arise. In addition, I will provide you with my sister’s contact information so you can have back up if you need to reach an owner of the property. Also, the WIFI internet access code is on a bulletin board in the Kitchen next to the refrigerator. As I mentioned in the narrative on the website, I travel for work often and I may not be accessible via cell phone at all times. However, I do my best to return calls on a timely basis. You will have multiple contacts to call should you need assistance. PLEASE CALL me a week or two before you arrive so I can address your questions and concerns. Thank you again to all of the 2011 renters! We have a beautiful lake home and I hope you consider renting from our family. Remember, repeat visitors will get a discount!! Best, David

Comfy and relaxing

  • 5 of 5

Nicely equipped home. Our weekend away was great. The lake was iced over and we were able to walk on it and have some fun. Although we didn’t participate, there were tons of ice fisherman out there! Great back room for eating, playing games and looking at the lake. Off main road, no noise and felt very safe.

Thanksgiving Week Stay

  • 5 of 5

My family of 8 and I really enjoyed our stay during the week of Thanksgiving 2017. The location was very central to all of the Finger Lakes. We enjoyed the large dining room and the game room. The firewood selection was a little lacking, but we found plenty of places in Honeoye to buy wood for cheap. I can see this house being THE PERFECT location for a summer getaway. The backyard between the house and the lake is gigantic, probably the largest yard I've seen on Honeoye Lake. The dock was also very large, more than enough for a good size boat. Summertime guests would be able to take advantage of the huge outdoor patio and BBQ grill. The driveway was paved and long enough for our 5 full-size pickup trucks, and there was additional parking in front of the garage. The neighborhood was very quiet, even on Thanksgiving. We saw several deer in the yard and on Dana Shores Drive. The living room was a little small for our big group, but in the summertime that wouldn't be a concern as guests would be outside and in the game room. We really enjoyed the SmartTV in the living room, especially after long days of hunting in the cold weather. The bedrooms were more than adequate for our group. A family with small children would make more use of the bunk room than we did, as we were mostly adults. The WIFI worked well throughout our stay. David was readily accessible via email before and during our stay. I would definitely recommend staying here, and our group will certainly consider returning here in the future.

Quaint & cozy cottage on the lake

  • 4 of 5

We stayed there last weekend of October. In advance of the trip David sent us clear directions and information. We found the place easily with GPS and got there just before sunset. Everything was just as described. View of the lake is beautiful & the cottage very comfortable - felt like a family get away spot. It was a little cool for water sports though we did take the peddle boat out for a brief tour of the south end of the lake. The dock looked ideal for summer and was a comfortable place for morning coffee and sunset over the hills. The accommodations were more than sufficient for four adults and three kids. We took note of many special touches: a book of local attractions, firewood provided, check in from the owner, etc. Seemed like they invested in the place as well with several updated features (skylights in game room, bathroom sinks, breakfast bar/counter tops) and newer appliances (fridge, dishwasher, TV). Wifi helped the rainy afternoon as did access to Netflix as a guest on the smart TV. Everything was clean and well kept.

There are several interesting hiking spots within a half hour but we were content to fritter the day away without leaving. Groceries, CVS, pizza place all within 10 minutes.

This is not a secluded get-away; there are neighbors on either side and homes are very close to each other. However, the property is situated so that it feels private enough. Of course, this was off-peak so it may feel differently for a mid-summer holiday weekend. Many homes in the area seemed to be seasonal use only.

All in all this is a very nice place that we would visit again and heartily recommend to others.

Owner's Response: Thank you for the nice review. We are constantly maintaining and updating the lake house. As mentioned this property is not a full time rental and my family enjoys the house on a regular basis. This property is located on a private drive and like many lakefront homes there are neighbors on either side. Our street has a few full year residents but most are seasonal and recreation on the weekends. During the weekdays in the summer months the lake can be peaceful and quiet. Boat traffic does pickup on weekends but the lake is surprisingly less busy than other finger lakes. With this property you have 70 feet of private lakefront to enjoy swimming, kayaking, paddle boating and a private dock with a table and benches. In addition, you have your own private fire pit stocked with firewood. The property has bushes and trees on the property lines to give you privacy and the neighborhood houses were built set back from the beach. This means you have a large front and back yard to play soccer or volley ball and let the kids run around. A level large yard without stairs or steep hills to the water can be hard to find on many of the finger lakes. You were wonderful guests and please note we give discounts on repeat visits. I do hope you visit us during the summer months!
