The entire 2 bedroom 2 bath condo has been completely remodeled (5/14) and is literally only steps to the warm Pacific Ocean! Golden sunrises, warm trade winds and shimmering waters next to a mile long sandy beach. Those are just a few of the things that come with this beautiful and unique condo!

Visitors staying at the Pono Kai Resort will enjoy an assortment of onsite activities such as a the onsite pool and hot tub, lighted tennis courts and croquet lawn, shuffleboard, putting green, work-out room, BBQ facilities, and activity desk for booking on-island adventures. Greg and Aleta live in South dakota. We love our Kauai get away, as the winters are very long and cold here. We went to Kauai the first time in 2011. We loved it right away. We love outside activities.

Why Kapaa Town? The first time we went to Kauai, we stayed in Kapaa. It was perfect. It is centrally located, so you can head any direction, and get there quickly. It has wonderful restaurants, and it is perfectly quaint.

What makes this condo unique

Pono Kai has so much to offer. With a pool, tennis courts, boche, putting greens. We love the walking trail right out our back door. And don't forget about the beach and ocean that you can hear and see from the lanai. It doesn't get any better than that.

Great Location

My family of four stayed here in early July.

PROS: ocean front, beach right outside the door, unit recently remodeled, good communication with owner and property manager, beach chairs, cooler, beach towels, three TVs--2 very large (although we didn't even turn them on).

CONS: older building, smells like an older building, not an attractive place, plain landscaping, smoking area on beach is directly in front of this condo (this would be a PRO if you're a smoker, I guess; I did not enjoy), beach is trashy with lots of small pieces of trash and tree debris, no a/c, pool is nothing special, tons of chickens

Re: the lack of a/c--keep in mind we stayed here in July; it was incredibly hot! I knew there was no a/c but I believed the reviews that the breeze from the ocean would be good enough. Probably in other months, but not July. The unit did have ceiling fans, and 4 portable fans but only two worked. I did let the property manager know that two fans didn't work but no offer to replace them. So, if your stay is not during the summer, I doubt the lack a/c would be an issue.

This was an excellent place to stay and we would gladly stay again.

This was a great place for my family and I to stay. It was located in a great area with excellent walkable food. We also rented bikes and could ride for miles right in front. You are located steps from the beach where we saw turtles, fish and seals. Would reccommend this property to other and would for sure stay here again.

Great place to stay!

This condo was spacious, modern, clean and well appointed. We liked being on the ground floor, steps from the water with easy access to the path and communal BBQs. Being able to walk to town or take the bikes for a spin to a nearby beach were added bonuses.Pono Kai was centrally located and had lots of games and activities to do on the grounds after a day of exploring the island. Communication with the owner/manager was clear and timely. We can definitely recommend staying both at Pono Kai and in the Ocean Zen Villa.

Great time!

What a wonderful condo! Beautiful, clean, comfortable, well equipped, and about as perfect as a location as you could ask for. You can take a 5 minute walk into a great little town with plenty of food and shops, ride bikes on the ocean front bike path right in front of the condo to other local beaches and my personal favorite was to watch the sunrise from the lanai with a cup of coffee. Also a great location for day trips to other parts of the island if you like. There is no air conditioner in the unit, however the cool evening trade winds along with the fans provided were plenty enough to keep us cool and comfortable. Both the owner and property manager were great to work with, we would definitely stay here again!

Cleaning Fee $150

For bookings 21 nights and over, we require a mid-stay clean of $100.

Guest shall inform Agent in writing of Guest's intention to cancel the reservation. The cancellation policy is as follows:

If Cancellation notice is received ninety or more days (90+) prior to the check-in date, a cancellation fee equal to 10% of the reservation total will be forfeited and the balance will be refunded within 7 days from receipt of written cancellation.

If cancellation notice is received less than ninety days (0-89) prior to the check-in date, the full booking amount of rent and taxes will be forfeited. Any security deposit and any pre-collected cleaning fees will be refunded within 7 days from receipt of written cancellation. As courtesy to our Guest, if Agent is able to rebook any portion of the canceled reservation, Guest will be refunded to the extent that agent is able to re-book the property.

Owner/Agent cancellation policy: In the unlikely event that the property becomes unavailable for any part of the tenancy for reasons beyond the control of the Agent, Owner and/or Agent may cancel this agreement and owner and agent's liability shall be limited to providing comparable accommodations or providing a refund for the portion of the rental term made unavailable.

A downpayment of 30% of rental amount is due immediately. 70% is required 90 days prior to arrival.
