About Tim or Julie Ryan

My husband and I grew up in Illinois, but we LOVE being near the water! We escape to a beach whenever we can. We were thrilled to discover Holland Michigan several years ago when we were looking for a great way to celebrate our Anniversary. We spent the weekend in Holland and just loved the area and Lake Michigan. We came back several times and always felt like we had found a wonderful Midwestern secret in Holland. When our family recently discussed summer vacation destinations, everyone agreed that a BEACH was just what we wanted. So we introduced our daughters to Holland, Michigan and they loved it as much as we did! We recently made the decision to invest in a second home and Holland was the perfect spot. We look forward to many years of enjoying and sharing the beauty of Holland and our beloved Cottage.

Why Tim or Julie Ryan chose Holland

We love the area of Western Michigan, and specifically Holland! The beauty of Lake Michigan and the surrounding area has made it a place we've returned to again and again. The friendliness of the people of Holland makes it an even more enjoyable place to visit.

Lovely cottage in Waukazoo Woods

  • 4 of 5

We stayed at the cottage for a long weekend recently. There was 6 of us, 3 couples, plenty of room for us all and we enjoyed our time there. All the amenities of home. Nice area, great for walks to the Lake!

Cute little place

  • 4 of 5

This was our family's first HomeAway experience.

We stayed here with our family of 5. It is definitely an older cottage but has lots of great amenities. Our older 2 girls stayed in the room with the trundle bed. They loved it. They have lots of kitchen gadgets which is nice. Lots of closet space and dressers. Low on the dish soap and trash bags but we made it work.

We went in November. The leaves weren't picked up and were pretty thick which made it slippery with the millions trips we had to make back and forth to the car (lots of kids=lots of stuff). We weren't able to enjoy the backyard/deck because of it either but it was also raining much of the weekend. There is no bathtub so just beware of that if you have little ones. We made due, though. It would have been nice to have the fireplace working because it was chilly but it was not a deal breaker.

Everything was clean and I'm sure it would be even more wonderful to rent in the warmer months with lots of space for everyone.

Owner's Response: Aidalys, Thank you for staying with us. We are glad your family enjoyed your stay. Thank you for your comments and suggestions. We value feedback from our guests. Let us address those here. We do try to supply sufficient dish soap and trash bags for a typical stay and have addressed your concern with our staff. In terms of leaves, your stay was between cleanups (in Waukazoo Woods we normally need to make 2-3 passes to get all the leaves) and are sorry they got in your way. We'll address that with our lawn folks. As you found, the fireplace is a beautiful and decorative feature. Our cottage is mostly used in the summer, and there is typically little need for a fireplace then. Generally, our winter renters have found that the furnace more than keeps up with the need even in the coldest weather. Thank you again for your comments. We are glad your first HomeAway experience left you wanting to come back. Tim and Julie

Great cottage.

  • 5 of 5

Beautiful, clean, comfortable, cozy feel but plenty of room. Amazing trees in yard with mind blowing fall colors, in neighborhood packed with beautiful trees/colors. 7-9 minutes from Holland state park (beautiful hiking trails) and beach. Amazing sunset over Lake Michigan. 15-20 min from Saugatauck Dunes and beach. Great location, super, super quiet neighborhood. People wave when you drive bye.

Thank you for sharing your beautiful home! We will definitely return.

Only thing that would make it better: consider taking out thencarpet in family room -- a little musty due to high humidity. And, better pots and pans -- definitely need a big fry pan. But no big deal. We made due.

Thanks again!
