Very nice cabin!!! Gorgeous view!!! Would definitely stay in this cabin again!
Smaller than the pix make it look but perfect for 2 couples!
We arrived a day before the couple we were sharing the cabin with. Check-in was super easy and quick and the staff was chipper and helpful. The cabin was incredibly easy to find and had a nice paved roadway. We were a little skeptical about it being in a resort community but the privacy was still there as no cabins are right on top of it. The parking area was perfect for two vehicles and probably could have stacked a third. The pictures made the cabin look huge but it actually was pretty quaint for the first story. Downstairs bed and bath were nice. Upstairs only the bathroom is sectioned off (we expected a wall between the game room and bedroom from the pix but there was not; not a huge issue though because you got an AMAZING view in the morning when you woke up). The beds were incredibly comfortable! Hot tub was clean and worked great. Both balconies have great views but the bottom one is in the middle of a tree so its a bit obscured. While the gaming tables were fun and we played them they definitely were a little worse for wear. There is a raised board on the pool table under the felt and it is evident from the floor below it that several balls have been launched due to it. The air hockey table virtually throws no air under the puck when turned on. The arcade game however worked perfectly! These of course are all very minor complaints that in no way would stop us from staying in this cabin again! My only real complaint with relevance is that it didn't look like the cabin was cleaned very thoroughly before we arrived as there was a half empty bottle of shampoo still sitting in the shower, there was water all over the floor by the toilet upstairs, and the giant metal air return vent in the living room had so much dirt on it that we actually cleaned it ourselves before the other couple came and saw it. Again, none of this would make us hesitate to rent again and we had a great time! Also, be sure you eat at J.T. Hannah's at light 7 in Pigeon Forge!
We had an amazing time on our vacation!! This cabin was one of the reasons!! When we first checked in the man checking us in said that we had one of the best cabins as far as the view. I was sure that he said that to everyone checking in to any cabin. But after getting into the house and driving around the resort a bit, I believe that he really wasn't lying! The view from the top balcony was amazing!!! The bottom balcony doesn't have as good of view, but is very private. Which was fine with us. That being said, this cabin does have a narrow spiral staircase, leading to the top balcony/second floor. That may be an issue for some. We only had a couple of issues, the grill looked like it had just been painted. So we weren't able to use it, for fear of paint getting on our food. There was also a few nails on the deck that needed to be hammered down. Hopefully they fix those issues. We will definitely look into this cabin again if we travel back to this area!
Good and bad
The cabin is cute, perfect size for 2 couples. The view was spectacular. Great location, and felt like you were kind of by your self, not like right on top of cabins right next to you. It was clean, high tech tvs/satellite. Hot tub was great with a great view.
We did have some problems...attempted to grill and as soon as we put the coals on the grill was corroded through and fell off the pole. Luckily our steaks weren't on there yet! So we had to buy a grill ourselves. Also, in the middle of the night (we're here on the hottest days of the year so far, high 90s) the air conditioning broke and switched to emergency heat. With absolutely no way to fix it. What I'm annoyed with is that there is no middle of the night emergency maintenance number...so I called the office at 3 am....they come in at 8. I called back at 8 and was told that maintenance doesn't start till 11 am. So from about midnight till 11 a.m. we cooked in the cabin, which ended up reaching 86 degrees. Absolutely miserable. When maintenance came, he was really nice and apologetic...he couldn't fix it either so they had to get the a.c. guy to come in (which they should have been able to call him at 3 am). So finally about 1 pm it started cooling off.
Now that being said...Bearly Awake now probably has a new grill and new a.c....so I bet it'll be a great place to stay. Just know if you have any problems outside of business/maintenance hours...good luck.
Our cabin was very clean and well taking care of. The View was breathtaking!
Great location, beautiful views, good amenities
Overall our experience was excellent. The views are amazing, and it is close to town. Plenty of linens and towels. The only two pieces of advice I would give renters are to bring a couple extra pans and cooking utensils, as their selection is a little low with only one medium sized pot. The second is that the town is very kid friendly, but is definitely a tourist trap. For 2 adults and 1 child it was $84 for the aquarium! We spent most of our time hiking, driving through cades cove, going to clingmans dome, and I even got to knock a bucket list item off my list by hiking a couple miles on the Appalachian Trail. We also visited an exotic petting zoo which is out of the way, but worth it! I probably enjoyed it more than my 4 year old. It is very kid friendly.
One thing we noticed, the majority of tourists stick to places you can drive to. While we were hiking we only saw 3 people total. And that's over the course of 3 days during the peak of the summer (tourist season).
