We have been traveling to North Carolina for years and then we decided to buy a cabin, except we ended up building one in Jackson County. And then we found these cabins and loved the area. Renting them was a gradual thing after folks we knew wanted to rent them, so we decided to advertise. It's alot of work, but we love getting the cabins ready for ourselves and anyone else that would like to enjoy them. You can't help but love the cool air and country atmosphere in Graham County.
Debbie Perron purchased this cabin in 1997
We bought this cabin a few years after our cabin (the Chalet), just because it was so cute and conveniently located on the same road for our family and friends. It's always hard to decide which cabin we like the best.
The weather is great, the views are beautiful and everyone waves to you while driving on the road.
We really enjoyed our stay at the cabin. We got into town in the late afternoon and made a beer run to the neighboring county, because the cabin is in a dry county. When we arrived back to the cabin, Roy came by and showed us around the cabin and then took the time to show us some things on the map to do while we were in town. We had some great pizza at the Tapoco Lodge and some some beautiful scenery and waterfalls thanks to his suggestions. We had literally everything we needed to feel right at home. Even enough to make a Thanksgiving dinner! The wifi is a little touchy but if we stood out on the porch we could get enough service to make a call or look something up. It was honestly really nice to unplug for a few days!!! If we return to the area we'll definitely be back to this cabin! Thanks so much Roy & Debbie!
If you are looking for a cabin in the mountains for a nice get away, than look no further! The Owners Debbie and Roy go the extra mile to make your stay enjoyable. We arrived in October for a week to see the change of the Fall colors, it was better than expected . Our cabin was a 2 bedroom, 2 bath with gas burning fireplace, living, dining area with kitchen, plus washer and dryer, nice and clean when we arrived.
You are not too far away to go and take in other sites for the day out or dining at night at a local restaurant. Plus, grocery store not too far away.
Many thanks to Roy and Debbie to make it full of warm memories of a relaxing retreat!
Truly a mountain retreat! The cabin is cozy, especially with the gas logs burning. Our dogs had plenty of room to investigate in the yard. The owners greeted us warmly. Roy recommended the Tapoco Lodge for dinner. That was just what we needed after a day of hiking. There is plenty of outdoor space to enjoy the scenery. We were close enough to visit quite a number of surrounding attractions. We highly recommend the Mountain Retreat if you wish to find rest and relaxation.
If you are looking for a clean, cozy plan to stay off the main tourist route, this is your kind of place. The cabin was awesome, had everything you would love about a old school mountain cabin, fireplace, fire-pit, grill, and most modern technology, internet, direct TV. Great central location if you plan to visit the Tail of Dragon, Smokey Mountains, Joyce Kilmer, Bryson City, NOC etc. What made this place exceptional is the kind and friendly owners. We drove 8 hours to this cabin and were a bit thirsty for a cold beer. The owner was cool enough to bring us a 6 pack so we didnt have to go back out and get some cold brews, I know that sounds silly but it was just nice and cool he offered that. Ive stayed in high end hotels, rentals and would choose this over any of them because its quiet, off the tourist track and the owners are just plain cool!!. Cabin was super clean, everything worked and the owners were there to help with anything but never overbearing of our privacy.. I will be back to this cabin.....
My wife and I arrived late Thursday to a beautiful cabin getaway. Our expectations were exceeded on many levels. Cozy comfort, cleanliness, decor, amenities, relaxing views. You name it, this cabin has it. Our first time, but definitely not our last!
Immaculately clean and very well decorated mountain cabin. Tasteful accents include many themes on bears...and guess what...we saw one just down the road during our stay! Everything you need for a peaceful stay in the mountains. Good area for relaxing and hiking. Roy and Debbie were very welcoming and ready to be of assistance should you need anything or have questions.
Access is by a concrete road to the cabin. Site plan of the property is available showing the fishing creek, hiking trail and cabin locations of Smoky Mountain Vacation Rentals.
