We booked this house for a Fall Break getaway, with three families meeting in Northern Maine. From the first moment we saw the house, after driving a winding dirt road back into the ocean dunes, we were smitten. The decor is lovely and simple, the bunk room was spectacular and created a much-needed getaway for our boys ages 6-14. We could not get enough of coffee on the deck in the morning where we spotted harbor seals, a porpoise, and even a bald eagle flying over the property. We took advantage of the fire pit near the oceanside most evenings. And enjoyed local restaurants as well as a few trips to Acadia. The only downside was there is no wi-fi; this created an issue for a couple of us who needed to do work while staying at the house and the local bar wasn't too friendly about having us sit there to use their wifi... but overall we loved the house and the atmosphere and highly recommend!
Wonderful location to get away from it all. Perfectly designed to gather together while cooking, eating and socializing and large enough for couples to have their own space. The kitchen was well stocked and easy for several hands to work together. The owners were very responsive. We would definitely recommend.
Words and pictures could not completely capture nature's masterpiece with the view at Shark Cove but we tried multiple times a day anyway! We love the Schoodic Peninsula and enjoy exploring when we visit but staying on the deck at Shark Cove was what we opted for each morning and evening - it was hard to leave! When we did venture out we we had lunch on the wharf in Corea while watching the boats in the harbor and also went to Sand Cove Beach to take in the view & hunt for rocks to remind us of our stay. We watched waves crash on Schoodic Point, built cairns at Grindstone Point in Winter Harbor and watched the boats and bouys from the deck as we sipped our morning coffee. The kitchen is well stocked and we were able to make a wonderful dinner while watching the sunset (which we were able to do every night!) Eating out was also a treat at The Pickled Wrinkle, Downeast Mexican Takeout & J.M. Gerrish - so good! When we were not enjoying the view from the deck, the short walk down to the rocky coast was a favorite spot to explore or breathe in the ocean air and get lost in the sound of the waves. The house is clean, spacious and we felt lucky to be able to call Shark Cove our home in Down East Maine for a few memorable days.
We were thrilled with our find! This is a beautiful, well stocked home with all that you could need to have a wonderful, relaxing vacation. We so enjoyed the fire pit at night and the beautiful view of the ocean. Hearing the Lobster Boats in the morning and seeing the sun reflect off the water was like being in a postcard! There were 7 of us, all Adults, who just loved experiencing Maine from Corea. Taking walks to the village was rewarding after finding the Wharf restaurant and having Lobster Rolls and fresh pie! We had several days trips to Bar Harbor. Once we took the ferry from Winter Harbor over and that was a nice experience. One of our days we bought fresh lobster from the coop in Winter Harbor and had a lobster boil with clams! We ate outside on the tables provided and enjoyed the view of the water. Would love to do it again in the near future! Thank you so making our vacation so enjoyable!
What a way to vacation! This beautiful, comfortable home on the water is the perfect location for exploring DownEast Maine. The house is equipped with everything you need, plus more. (Including everything you need for preparing your own lobster dinner.) The view is outstanding. It was pleasant watching the lobster boats each morning and sitting on the deck and watching the sunsets in the evenings. There are so many great restaurants within a few miles, but the best lunch is at the dock in Corea. The lobster lunch is a must! Nearby Acadia National
Park is beautiful and perfect for driving, hiking, bicycling, or for a carriage ride. There are not many places to really get away from it all and enjoy nature, and the quiet. This home provides just that!
The house was great for our two families. Large main room for games, eating and socializing. The bedrooms were lovely and comfortable. The location is private with expansive views of the harbor and surrounding territory. We spent a lot of time chilling on the deck and staring at the lobster boats. We will definitely return to this house - loved it!
