Short walk to the beach - 300 steps from the front door to your feet in the sand. Or relax on the sofa, look at the ocean, and watch the surfers. 'Low Tor' is on Bumblebee Path, the footpath to the beach, and is once again available for your vacation.

Sit back with an unobstructed view of the beach from Tomales Bay & Pt. Reyes to Bodega Head as you lounge in the living room, sit at the breakfast bar or cook in the new kitchen! After you've watched the surfers, walked on the beach, looked at the sunset out the picture windows, then let the sound of the surf lull you to sleep at night.

This 1924 Craftsman small cottage has been fully remodeled. It has a completely new kitchen with granite counter tops, new gas range, 9' long kitchen window, sliding glass door & picture windows in living room all looking out over the beach and Pacific Ocean. Updated bathroom, all three bedrooms updated, new windows & new flooring throughout.

Living room - Cabin charm with knotty pine walls, cozy new carpeting, and ocean view through the virtually all glass west wall. Living room and kitchen flow together to form an easy-living great room. New 42' flat screen t.v. with Dish satellite (120 channels), dvd & vhs player.

Kitchen - Totally new kitchen and fully equipped! Dishwasher, garbage disposal, Cuisinart food processor, coffee maker, microwave, toaster, stand electric mixer, dishes, pots & pans, griddle, waffle iron, mixing bowls - you name it, it's probably there! Cooking's enjoyable as you look out over the ocean, have everything you need at hand - and are still part of the action since the kitchen & living area adjoin.

Master bedroom - queen size bed, organic cotton linens, decorated for comfort and relaxation. Largest of the bedrooms, but still not big.

Second bedroom - queen size bed, organic cotton linens, decorated in warm sandy tones, relax and enjoy this smaller but quaint cottage bedroom.

Third bedroom - two twin beds, organic cotton linens, two steps to the bathroom, just far enough away from mom & dad's room - but not too far.

Bathroom - roomy bathroom, brand new stall shower with shower door. Plush new towels, hairdryer provided, wonderful shower gels & body wash always stocked.

Our cottage is great for a small family, two couples or a girls get-away. It's not large - but has a dynamite view and is just steps from the sand.

About Nancy Smith

Tom, Adrienne, Eric & Nancy Smith - Tom & I have lived in Sacramento for over 30 years and enjoy cooling off at the ocean during our hot valley summers . Our daughter, Adrienne, is an architect and designed the new kitchen. Our son, Eric, helped his dad with carpentry on the remodel.

Nancy Smith purchased this cottage in 2010

Why Nancy Smith chose San Francisco Bay Area

Dillon is the closest ocean get-away from Sacramento - a 2 hour drive. At Dillon, the beach is about a 300 yard walk from our door & ready for strolls, afternoon runs, shell collecting - surfing & skim boarding. Dillon is also close to hiking at Pt. Reyes National Seashore, and near by cute shopping in Pt. Reyes Station, Freestone, Duncans Mills and Tomales.

What makes this cottage unique

Relaxing, walking on the beach, reading & watching the waves - unwinding and enjoying California's north coast.

Favorite house in the Village

  • 5 of 5

Myself and my three besties of 40 years go to Dillon regularly and have stayed in many places in the Village and up on the bluffs. And we much prefer visiting during off-season. One of my friends has been going there since she was a baby with her family. This is by far the best house I have stayed in. When we arrived there was a small miscommunication about our arrival date and the house had not been turned over yet by housekeeping. After a couple of phone calls the house keeping staff made an emergency visit and all was set to rights. Both the owner, Nancy, and the housekeeper were horrified at the mistake and Nancy made it up to us in very fair manner.

That small glitch aside, this house is darling. The beds are comfy, the house is very clean (the folks just before us pretty much cleaned up after themselves), the kitchen is well equipped (VERY important to me) even including decent knives, which almost never happens in a vacation rental property. The sofa is super comfy, (although the placement did make it a bit difficult for TV viewing). This house is the right combo of updated and vintage charm (thank you for leaving the original medicine chest/mirror!). The one level is especially appreciated by a couple of my peeps. The proximity to the beach is excellent even if that walk up and down is a thigh burner after a few trips.

If I ever came into a windfall of cash I would definitely buy a home at Dillon Beach. But until then I will be staying at this home whenever possible. In fact we have already booked for the same time next year! Hopefully I can get back there at least once before then.

Charming and Great Location

  • 5 of 5

We are regular renters at Dillon Beach and have stayed in many properties. I have to say that this is my favorite in terms of location, comfort and view. I especially liked the kitchen remodel. The 9ft window design was genius. It is an easy walk to the beach, the store, and the cafe. There is WiFi and a TV, but we rarely used it. The views were more fun than TV. The beds are comfortable and the house had everything we needed, especially the kitchen. We plan to go back as often as we can. Thank you for sharing your home with us.

BEST VIEW OF THE OCEAN ON SUMMER STREET!!!

  • 5 of 5

Hubby & I visited Low Tar with our golden retriever in celebration of our birthdays. The weather was beautiful with sun and temps in the low 70's both days. We were in heaven! This cottage has the best ocean view on Summer Street. We found it very cozy, comfortable, and quiet. We liked that the sliding glass door out to the deck had a screen so that our dog wouldn't go out, but we could hear the ocean waves and smell the freshest air ever. The bed was extremely comfortable also for a good nights sleep. The kitchen view with that window made all the difference in the world. The place is so sunny and bright. It felt like we had lived there before, as we felt right at home the minute we walked in. The kitchen has everything you need for a barbeque and cooking large meals. Nancy has thought of everything and it was a breeze booking with her.

We always like to visit Point Reyes Station before we head up Hwy 1. We love to visit Toby's feed barn there with its unique gifts and treats. Also the Pine Cone café at Point Reyes Station has good food and you can eat outside with your dog at the picnic tables. You can also do this at the Dillon Beach café.

I really loved how we could walk to the store, café, and beach all within a few minutes of the cottage. I felt extremely comfortable walking our golden in the neighborhood at 9 at night. The town is a sleepy, quiet, and safe community. I would love to live here.

Thanks Nancy for sharing your cottage with us!

Girls' Weekend Away

  • 5 of 5

Three of my dear high school girlfriends and I met up for a weekend get-away at the beach. The cottage was perfect, offering a beautiful ocean view, the sound of ocean waves, and a sense of tranquility--something we all needed a dose of. The place was spacious, yet cozy. It had a fully-stocked kitchen, and comfortable sleeping quarters for everyone. We will definitely be back!

Best vacation rental at the beach

  • 5 of 5

This rental was top of the line.the views are spectacular and the ocean is panoramic from the whole back of the house. Cook diner and look at the ocean, sit in the living room and look at the ocean etc etc. The kitchen is beautiful, efficient and is missing nothing. Very comfy beds, great linens, lots of towels and supplies and very clean and one level. Pet friendly.

Less then 2 min walk to beach and ocean. Very attentive and caring owners. We cannot wait to return.
