About Jen
We love having our "step back in time" getaway on historical Mackinac Island. We are a monthly rental only. This is actually due to city code and zoning. Our building is zoned for residential and not commercial. If your busy lives allow for a month long getaway you wont be disappointed with your stay at Heroes Retreat. We are a patriotic family with Michigan roots residing in Virginia. We only get to enjoy the place once a year so we thought we would share the beauty and memory making of Mackinac Island with you.

What makes this Condo unique
We enjoy having a top floor view of Main St. We are across from Mission Church and have seen quite a few weddings go by. Mission Point's Bistro on the Green is a great spot that we love to go for tapas, a drink, live music all with a water view. In the summer there is even glow-in-the-dark putt-putt. The park next to us has adirondack chairs and we love to go there and relax. We are a ten minute walk to bustling Main St where there are countless fudge, souvenir, restaurants, bars and ice cream shops. We love being able to hop on our bikes to do all of those things. The paved loop around the island is 8 miles. Take in some time to enjoy the history of the island at Fort Mackinac.

Great Condo
Great condo and location. I really can't think of anything that would make this a better rental. Jenn was extremely helpful and responded quickly to our questions. We would definitely recommend this to anyone.
Best vacation in years! The condo is in a perfect location, and beautifully decorated.
One month of heaven😊 The beauty of Mackinac Island is amazing. Everywhere you look is colorful. The ability to walk for hours in either the State Park trails or just strolling the East and West Bluff streets taking photos of the historical mansions is a definite plus. The sounds of the horses and buoys at night provides a very relaxing atmosphere.
Best Month Ever!!
I spent the month of October 2016 in this wonderful condo. It was even better than I imagined. It was so nice that it was hard to come back home to reality! The condo was like a home away from home. I was able to rest and relax while staying up-to-date on my work during the month due to the wireless internet access. Everything you need is provided in the fully-stocked kitchen, laundry and bathroom. Two bikes are provided for guests (I brought my own and stored it out back which allowed my visitors to use the ones provided). It was a great deal and I didn't have to worry about a thing thanks to the thoughtfulness of the owner (she even texted me to wish me happy birthday while I was there)! I would highly recommend the property and am grateful for the opportunity to rent it. I am hoping to make a return trip in the future! In my opinion the condo is perfectly located on the edge of the main tourist area. You are close enough to head downtown to grab a bite to eat or hang out at the library but far enough away that most of the day trippers don't venture that far out. I met some wonderful people and made many great memories. I would highly recommend this property to anyone who would love to experience a getaway to wonderful Mackinac Island! Do it---you won't regret it!
A great property which met our expectations perfectly
A beautiful, well-kept condo which really contributed to our fantastic experience on Mackinac Island. The Third floor unit (elevator access) had a balcony which provided a wonderful view. All the amenities of the island, including the island grocery, library, restaurants and pubs were within walking (or bicycling) distance and enabled us to be right in the middle of all the activities of this magical place. I would recommend it to anyone.
A home away from home
I have been coming to the island for many years, and for some time had been looking for a place for an extended stay. I am so glad I found this great condo. I was really sad to leave, because by the end of the month, it felt like home. The location was perfect, and the neighbors were very friendly. The listing is accurate. The owners have really made an effort to make you feel at home. A couple of the things I really appreciated were the internet access and the bikes. I took the girl's bike for several rides, and I really appreciated the big basket for hauling my groceries as well as my backpack.
I had some questions during my stay, and the owner was only a text away - very convenient. I would definitely recommend this condo to anyone. One of my favorite things to do on the island is to hike the trails. Being there in May, I got to see a lot of the spring flowers out in the woods that I had always been missing when I came in June or July. The tulips and daffodils all over town were beautiful as well. The temperature went from cold (winter coats) the first week - to warm (high 60's) by Memorial Day. One big advantage to May is that you avoid the crowds of summer. Sometimes you feel like you have the place to yourself! I'm already looking forward to my next visit, and I will definitely stay here again!
Nancy
My sister and I spent the month of October on the island and had a terrific time. Perfect time of year to explore the island and avoid all of the tourists. The weather was a little inclimate, but we made the best of it. We ended up entering and completing the Great Turtle Half Marathon, quite an accomplishment for two non-runners. The condo was the perfect location, and just the right size for the two of us. Can't wait to go back in 2015.
Location
'One of the top 10 islands in the world' - Conde Nast Traveler. There are no cars or motorcycles allowed on Mackinac Island and that is what makes it so special. You get around by bike, horse drawn carriage or by foot. There is a miniature golf course just a short stroll next door at Mission Point. There are so many things to see and do.
