Super cool lake house, bonus incredible location

  • 5 of 5

This home is loaded with character- it would be a cool lake house on any lake. But the location on Lake McDonald is INCREDIBLE. We woke up with the most amazing views out of our windows. The deck was a gorgeous setting for meals. Our kids loved skipping rocks in the lake and floating on rafts. We could kayak from the house. You can also jump on the Going-to-the-Sun Road and beat crowds more easily from the location. The house has a sense of heritage in the park, especially once you learn the owner's personal connection to the park. Charlene was one of the most outstanding homeowners to work with- communication was fantastic. Would give this rental our highest recommendation.

  • 5 of 5

This cabin was absolutely perfect!

We used it as a home base to explore the park and beyond!

After a day of hiking or riding or rafting, it was a great place to come back to and spend peaceful evenings with stunning views in all directions!

Will 100% be returning for more!

Once again.....extrordinary!

  • 5 of 5

This was a repeat visit to this perfectly located (and maintained) cabin inside of Glacier Park. Words cannot begin to describe what a great place to stay while visiting the park. This is one of the very few cabins existing within the park ("grandfathered in" from one of the families that were instrumental in the development of Glacier Park lodging).

The cabin is in great condition with everything needed to enjoy. We have already committed to staying again next year. This property, and the excellent communication with the owner,is well worth the "price of admission".

Beautiful Lakefront Cabin with a View

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed this beautiful lakefront cabin for a week in July 2015. The historic cabin was rustic and very cozy. We had everything we could possibly need. The beds were very comfortable. The lakefront and the deck were wonderful and the mountain view was just amazing. The cabin is near the Lake McDonald General Store and a short walk to the Lake McDonald Lodge yet totally quiet and peaceful. We had a very cold day and really enjoyed the fireplace. The fact that we were already in the park meant that we could travel Going to the Sun Road with ease (and get there early as there is no need to wait in line to enter the park) and use the park transit system when we chose. The stargazing is incomparable. Warning: very difficult to leave this cabin. The owner, Char, was very easy to work with and went out of her way to make our stay a great one. Would love to return.

Wonderful cabin on beautiful lake McDonald in Glacier National Park

  • 5 of 5

We spent a week with our extended family here in this wonderful cabin. Everything was included except food which we picked up at Super 1 in Columbia Falls on our way into the Park. There were a few chilly mornings so we got the fireplace (insert) going and were nice and warm. There is a washer and dryer there as well as a dishwasher, microwave, range, charcoal grill and all cooking utensils. This cabin is very convenient to trails in Glacier. So we did some hiking and especially enjoyed the alpine area at Logan Pass. There is no phone service but there is a pay phone at Lake McDonald Lodge nearby and cell service (Verizon) at Apgar down the road about 15 minutes. This location was perfect for us and our family. We have been coming to Glacier for years and have stayed in several different places but this is by far the best place we have ever stayed. It was nice to be able to sit out on the deck on the lake and enjoy the beautiful sunsets. The photos on the VRBO website accurately represent this cabin. Wonderful!

Quiet but in the hub of the activity

  • 5 of 5

This cabin is right on Lake McDonald, beside the Lodge. It's quiet, clean, roomy, and comfortable--even the beds are comfortable. It has huge picture windows that look out at the lake so you'll spend much of your time being mesmerized by the view. There is a washer/dryer and dishwasher and all the soaps are provided. In fact, if I recall correctly, everything is provided except the food. There are several nice restaurants nearby. Also, if you forget something, the cabin is right behind the General Store and it seemed to be very well stocked. The shuttle pickup is across the street from the General Store and it will take you anywhere you want to go. The internet worked but it was slow. We found that it was fine for checking email but we weren't there to hang out on our computers. In fact, you should know that you won't have any cellular service anywhere in the park. One person in our group had Verizon, one had AT&T and one had Sprint. There was Verizon service at St. Mary's and, believe it or not, on the deck of Sperry Chalet. Don't let that stop you from really enjoying this park or this cabin. You'll love it!
