PopPop 75 Birthday Celebration

Beautiful house and perfect location. Kids loved the beach and pool. Adults loved the view, proximity to the beach, and the fully equipped kitchen. Communication with the host/rep was excellent and very fast. No major problems with the house throughout the stay. One small problem was address immediately. All in all it was a great and fun trip.

Large well appointed home with view of the ocean

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We really enjoyed this home. Very close walk to the beach and you can see the ocean from the front decks. We loved having the pool and the kitchen is very well stocked!This is a fairly populated area. We are a little more used to staying in quieter more secluded places but the beach is not overly crowded. On the day before we left, the house next door, the house across the street to the side and the house across the street on the beach all had new renters. There were three groups of a LARGE number of college aged students. They were blasting competing music and the one next door was all girls periodically screaming and being rowdy. I'm really glad that this happened on our last day or it might've affected my overall feeling about our stay.Also, most of the light switches are labeled clearly except for one very important one. There is a random light switch in one of the bedrooms. My daughter turned it off thinking it was associated with one of the lights but it was the power supply for the modem and router. We had no internet and when we called the technical support number provided they were quite rude and not very helpful at all. We basically figured it out ourselves but it took a couple of hours.

Nice house in a great spot

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We liked the home-ey feel of the house. It was comfortable and easy to settle in. Just a few steps from the beach was great for us and our special needs son. We also got a lot of use from the pool and hot tub. The pictures of the house make it look like the pool area does not have much privacy, but in practice we found it to be just fine. The gas grill was a little newer and cleaner than I have seen on other obx rentals so this was nice as well - I was able to grill some food for the family without any extensive cleanup beforehandThe nearby seafood markets are great, offering steaming services and delicious crabcakes and other good stuff. I took off some stars due to some lack of attention to detail on cleaning. The coffee maker was full of old coffee so we had to spend a bunch of time giving it a thorough cleaning. Additionally, there was an issue with the internet and tv connection where the coax cable supplying power to the system was literally hanging on by a thread. The repair guy was able to come the next day and fix it, calling it a fire hazard and thanking us for calling it in. We did have to go a night without service but that's life. I anticipate this won't be a problem for others in the future. I thought it was nice there was a tech service company that was able to respond so quickly, but this problem never should have been there to begin with.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Spyglass never disappoints, this our 3rd time renting here. We love the proximity to the beach access and it’s great ocean views. We also enjoyed the fireworks from the deck as well as the independent show just down the street. We had an issue with our AC unit on the fourth and everyone from office rep to maintenance were very courteous and professional. They provided an interim solution and had the issue resolved within 24 hours. Highly recommend a week at Spyglass to refresh your soul!

Definitely needs updates throughout. Pool was never cleaned. If you want to use the gas grill, you have to pay for a propane tank. We were told it is not included in the house rental. I had to call twice to get shower fixed in 2nd floor master bath. This could be a great vacation home but I will not return unless I know it has been updated.

Reviewer Comments: Some of the details were not explained to us - like bringing your own towels. No Keurig in the kitchen. Had to go buy one. AC upstairs was out when we arrived. Office closed at 3:00 the day we arrived due to it being Father’s day. No one told us that. There was a note on the door. Had to sweep and vacuum which was never told to us. Had to read a lot of fine print to figure things out.

Volleyball is useless, sand was full of rocks and pebbles. Cockroaches were seen crawling in the morning the the kitchen and bathroom at least 2-3 times. Bedding needs to be upgraded in the 4th and 5th BR. Mattresses were terrible. OPINION: DO NOT UNDERESTERMATE THE VALUE OF COMFORTABLE BEDDING.ALLOW STAFF IN THE RENTAL OFFICE TO USE COMMON SENSE WHEN DEALING WITH RENTER. "WE WERE TOLD WE ARE NOT ALLOWED AND WILL GET IN TROUBLE" IS NOT AN ACCEPTABLE RESPONSE TO AN ISSUE.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This is a beautiful house in a great location. All levels easy to navigate and we loved the unusual layout. Easy, quick walk to the beach. Lots of decks and a great pool. Two cons. There is only one bathroom for three bedrooms on second level, which made for some difficulties. Also, kitchen appliances could use some updating. The owners or their kids went crazy with a label maker, but that just made us laugh!Overall, a terrific experience and great house.

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We did not actually stay due to COVID 19. We live in New York and one month prior to our stay North Carolina was listed as a state where we would need to quarantine for 14 days after a visit. We reached out to Carolina Shores and we were told we could likely do a transfer to the following year. I followed up several times to see if the transfer had been approved or not, mostly receiving no response from Carolina Shores. The day before we were to check in we were informed the homeowner had not approved a transfer and we either needed to come or loose all of our money. As a 14 day quarantine was not possible for us following our trip we lost all of our money. The office was ABSOLUTELY not helpful. DO NOT RENT FROM THEM UNLESS YOU WANT PROBLEMS!

Perfect location

This house was perfect for our family. It is located in the private community with close proximity to the 4 x 4 beach. Access to the Corolla beach is right across the street. The house is nicely decorated with all amenities that we were looking for.

This was our second year staying at Spyglass. Plenty of room for two families. We love the location, if you can’t be ocean front then this home is the next best thing. It also is very isolated from any traffic which makes fire peaceful mornings and evenings on the decks.Only negative - I wish the beds would be made upon arrival. It’s a little hassle to have to make your beds after a kind drive. This year the linens from previous rental stayed under the carport all week.

Great location!

The location of this house was perfect for us. The beach access was just a walk across the street so we could spend every day at the beach. When we got tired of being on the beach, we just walked across the street and jumped in the pool. The neighborhood is very quiet, you don't hear anything but the waves on the ocean. Exactly what we were looking for. The layout of the house was nice. You could gather together as a group or go off by yourself on one of the many decks. I would definitely stay here again.

My husband had been to OBX before but this was my first experience and our blended families first experience all together. We absolutely fell in love with Spyglass! It was just right for us. The kids had so much fun in the pool and hot tub. Beach access was ideal!!! We would love to book it again and next time we’ll know to bring tp and soap for the bathrooms and paper towels. Our master suite was perfect ❤️❤️. Such a great location! We have to figure out our schedule and hope to book Spyglass again next year. We highly recommend it!!

A house fit for the beach

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The house and rental company exceeded our expectations. The house was clean, functional and so close to the beach. It was very easy to feel comfortable in this house. The location to the beach was excellent without having to pay the price of a beachfront house. The beach access was close enuggt that you could run back to the house conveniently if needed without it being a large effort. Because the be a h access is private and has no parking, it was easy to find space on the beach for tents, chairs, etc.
