About Mary

We are a retired couple from High Point, NC. We thought a photo of some of our grandchildren enjoying Holden Beach might be more interesting than a photo of us! We have had so many wonderful times at Holden and know that you will too. We enjoy fishing, boating, walking on the beach and golfing at the many nearby courses. Please contact me at 336-688-0895

Mary purchased this house in 1995

Why Mary chose Holden Beach

After years of vacationing at Holden Beach, we decided to purchase The Salt Box. We have enjoyed many wonderful days with our children and grandchildren at this beach. We love the relaxed atmosphere and sneak away to the beach every chance we get!

What makes this house unique

Our home offers direct access to the canals leading to the ICW with your own private dock. The dock is also great for swimming, fishing and boating. We are just a short walk to the beach too. The living space is very open so you can enjoy meals and leisure time inside as well. We have lots amenities to make your stay a pleasure! You can head to the beach, jump on a boat or choose from one of several outdoor decks to relax.

Nice clean 4 bedroom home.

  • 4 of 5

The Salt Box in Holden Beach, NC was the perfect getaway for my family. Each room has its own bathroom, so no sharing. The bedrooms were decorated in a classic charm. The main room down stairs was a spacious place for all to hang out with plenty of seating. Noise from the early morning persons was minimal, sound didn't carry through walls as other houses do on Holden. Porches were inviting. Dock was well kept and fun to swim off of in the late afternoon high tide. The kitchen was well stocked...needed a mixer and electric fry bring these items. The master bedroom mattress was well past its prime. I put a pillow under my side of mattress. Hurricane Irma had my sister heading back to Atlanta early..bad traffic. Glad hurricane didn't get too close to Holden. Overall a nice quiet week after Labor Day to stay.

Good Times!

  • 5 of 5

I booked the Saltbox for my family who came in from Texas so they could be next door to us while we stayed next door at Captain P's. Everyone who stayed at the Saltbox had nothing but positive things to say about the accommodations. The listing very accurately describes the amenities provided. The rooms are much larger and nicer then they appear in the pictures. The house is clean and well maintained, the outside showers are a huge plus. The owner was great to work with for securing the rental and responded to follow up emails. The outside seating is great with a 24/7 view of the water and nice breeze coming from the oceanfront properties. Short walk to the beach is not an inconvenience but enjoyable. Restaurants we would recommend include the Barn Seafood and Patronies Pizza.

Great family home!

  • 5 of 5

For the week of the fourth, we stayed at the Salt Box. Four couples, two kids and a baby had plenty of room in the house! The rooms are spacious and the open living area gave us many opportunities to eat and hang out together. The house was well maintained and very clean. Access to the beach was less than a 5 minute walk. Great vacation home for families or couples getaway!

Awesome house for family of 8

  • 5 of 5

My family and I stayed at The Saltbox for a week and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Eight of us stayed at the house and had enough space to socialize with each other but also had enough space to "get away" if we wanted to. With two decks upstairs along with a screened-in porch and all the space downstairs by the water we were able to enjoy the outdoors without having to endure harsh elements. The kitchen was well-equipped and the beds comfortable. The house was very clean and decorated nicely. We had an amazing vacation and thank the home owners for the perfection of The Saltbox.

The Perfect House

  • 5 of 5

We just returned from the best Holden Beach vacation ever. We had 6 children with us and this was the perfect house for them. It was beautifully decorated but no so fancy that we couldn't "relax" with that many children. The boys went deep sea fishing then cleaned their catch of the day on the back at the cleaning station. Every day was filled with the kids fishing from the dock at back. Everyone brought their bikes and there was plenty of room in the downsstairs laundry room to secure them at night. The kitchen had everything we needed for the family meals that were cooked at every meal time but one(pizza night). I felt very safe letting the kids ride up and down the dead end road. We rode bikes most every night, the cool breeze and flat land made it very easy to get in 7 miles a day. The ice cream store right around the corner knew our names by the end of the week. The beach is very accessible, just a very short walk. And we couldn't miss Turtle Talk at the town hall, then going Turtle watching that night. This is a great house. I cant say anything bad about it! It was fun seeing all the family pictures sitting around. But it was all I could do to keep my comedian son in law from changing out all your photos and putting ours in... LOL thanks for sharing your piece of heaven with us for the week.
