NEARBY — The quaint town of Sawyer is a destination spot for all of Harbor County, and is just 5 min from Harbert and Union Pier. Don’t miss Sawyer Home & Garden, featuring an outdoor farmer’s market-style entrance with seasonal produce. They also have gourmet dry goods and expansive gift & plant-nursery sections. (You can also stock up on fresh produce at the corner stand just walking-distance from the estate!)

Infusco Coffee Roasters is the go-to local coffeeshop, or save your pastry purchases for delectable local bakeries Black Currant Bakehouse (Union Pier) or Luisa’s Harbert Swedish Bakery — our favorites. If you’re looking for a sandwich for lunch (and you didn’t already get one at the bakery!) Whistle Stop Café is often a convenient choice. Local tip — Sawyer Market and Deli makes authentic Indian takeout on Thursday evenings only, reserve ahead.

Enjoy fine dining at Susan’s or The Historian (Sawyer), Timothy’s (Union Pier), or the one we can’t wait to try — Cafe Gulistan (Harbert), to name a few. For a truly memorable experience enjoy farm-to-table haute cuisine at Granor Farm or Tabor Hill Winery (you’ll likely need to book ahead). For the everyday there are many breweries and wineries including Greenbush Brewery in Sawyer, and of course ice creams spots like The Beach Bucket.

There are many outdoor activities to enjoy including swimming and beach time of course, hiking, biking, kayak and many lake-accessory rentals, antiquing, blueberry-picking in season, and more! Feel free to ask us if you have any questions.

Lake Michigan RETREAT
My stay at Blue Sky was everything we wanted in a vacation property and more. The whole property was immaculate and new -in and out. The beds were a dream! The outdoor areas were beautiful and serene. Birds were singing the entire time. The private setting surrounded by large trees made us feel as though we were in the woods. It was very close to the beach and great restaurants too. Beautiful Lake Michigan cast it's magic over us during our stay, it is a true retreat. The memories made on this trip will last a lifetime! Highly recommend.

Why they chose this property

This area is coined "Harbor Country" where you can find superb dining, award winning distilleries and wineries, bakeries and antique stores. There are bike rentals available in the season for back-road cycling and hiking on the trails of Warren Dunes State Park and Warren Woods trails. Under 5 minutes away, the Historian restaurant, Sawyer Home and Garden's unique "high end department store shopping" draws attention from all of SW Michigan, Infusco's coffee roasters, Susan's Sawyer, Greenbush Brewing, Local Pour, Gather, Louisa's Swedish Bakery in Harbert, Flagship fish, Union Pier's Timothy's, and Black Currant Bakehouse to name a very few. Also nearby, you can find unique boutique shopping in New Buffalo, the amazing Four Winds Casino. In nearby Three Oaks village, the award-winning Journeyman Distillery and the Acorn Theater all just over an hour from Chicago. (Please note that reservations may be required for restaurant dining)

What makes this property unique

The east facing gabled architecture meets west light streaming in and creates a very grand feeling. The use of natural wood and stone is breathtaking and the refinement in detail is unsurpassed. The cedar shakes blend into the environment so naturally that you feel at home before even entering.
