We are a family of four who love to get up to the mountains to relax, kayak, hike and enjoy the views of the woods from the back porch and the views of the water and the mountains from the front porch!
Owner purchased this Cabin in 2009
Why Owner chose Grand Lake
We bought this cabin in 2009 after falling in love with Grand Lake and the west side of Rocky Mountain National Park. It needed some work - actually, a bunch of work. We gutted the entire inside down to the studs and put in new floors; new kitchen; new bathroom; a brand new wood-burning stove; new carpet; and sound insulation between the bedrooms. We bought it before we had kids, and spent a lot of time up there. When the little ones came along, it became a little harder to travel up there as often, and so we decided to make it a rental property in 2012. Our guests seem to love the quiet, and all the wildlife in the back yard. So do we!
What makes this Cabin unique
It is way less crowded - with way more wildlife and more peace and quiet - than the east side of RMNP. We love the many lakes, the woods in the back yard, the trails, and the stars at night!

Awesome place ! :) Gorgeous !
Cozy and beautiful views!
The pictures are exactly how this cozy cabin looks! You have a wonderful view of the mountains from the balcony. The owners are nice and very responsive! I asked for recommendations for snowmobiling and they responded quickly. We did end up going with Grand Adventures as suggested and had an amazing experience! Rocky Mountain National Park is right down the road. I would definitely recommend this sweet spot.
We loved our one night stay at the cabin. It was so cute and super cozy. The mattress in the pull out must have been replaced because that’s where we slept and it was really comfortable! We would definitely stay again! Thank you!
We had a wonderful stay at the Lus Moose recently. The cabin had everything we needed for our family of 5. The kids had a blast playing in the snow, walking around the lake, and tubing at the nearby Nordic center. We enjoyed cozy nights by the fire and the beautiful views from the back deck each morning. Thank you for your hospitality!
Great cozy winter getaway
We had a great time at this cozy cabin. We are Texans hoping for a white Christmas and boy did we get one. We got over a foot of snow in the four days there. The cabin feels remote because behind it is woods and mountains, and in front, trees and more mountains. So it is in a neighborhood without feeling like it. The HOA kept the streets plowed so it was easy to get around. The nearby Nordic center was great for sledding and tubing (free) and rentals were available for cross country skiing. The town of Grand Lake was nearby and had fun shops and restaurants. The only negative was the sofa bed is not in good shape. Anyone other than a small child cannot sleep on it comfortably. Luckily we brought our queen blowup mattress and used that instead. The beds upstairs were nice. The bathroom and kitchen were great. Loved the instant hot and extremely cold water right from the tap. I would definitely recommend it.
Thanks for the feedback about the pull out couch. We've heard our guests feedback, and so we just purchased a brand new couch with a top-of-the-line mattress. Because we had to special order it, it will be available in March 2018.
The views and location of the cabin are awesome. The only negatives about the place is the large damage deposit, no shovel for the snow and there was just a few pieces of firewood to start the fire to start to warm up the house. Had a blast with my family and loved the downtown Grand Lake area.
