About The Owner

We are a young couple with two small children who love to get up to the mountains to relax, kayak, hike and enjoy the views of the woods from the back porch and the views of the water and the mountains from the front porch!

The Owner purchased this cabin in 2009

Why The Owner chose Northwest

We bought this cabin in 2009 after falling in love with Grand Lake and the west side of Rocky Mountain National Park. It needed some work - actually, a bunch of work. We gutted the entire inside down to the studs and put in new floors; new kitchen; new bathroom; a brand new wood-burning stove; new carpet; and sound insulation between the bedrooms. We bought it before we had kids, and spent a lot of time up there. When the little ones came along, it became a little harder to travel up there as often, and so we decided to make it a rental property in 2012. Our guests seem to love the quiet, and all the wildlife in the back yard. Our next major project is to redo the siding and the front and back porches. However, the inside is brand new, and 'it's what's on the inside that counts!!'

What makes this cabin unique

It is way less crowded - with way more wildlife and more peace and quiet - than the east side of RMNP. We love the many lakes, the woods in the back yard, the trails, and the stars at night!

Cozy Cabin & Great Location!!

  • 4 of 5

Cozy, very clean and great location to RMNP park. Loved the peace, quiet and tranquility along with the all the amenities that the city of Grand Lake nearby offered.

Sweet cabin

  • 4 of 5

Adorable, clean and cozy cabin with views of lake and mountains. Sightings of red fox and mule deer. Charming and well equipped.Enjoyed sitting on the rear deck in morning and front deck in afternoon sun. Were disappointed the grill and wood stove were unusable.

Owner's Response: Thanks for the review. Per our conversation, the grill was operable but just needed to be cleaned, and the stove is operable but just needed some ashes removed from prior usage. We will include these items as part of our standard cleaning checklist in the future.

Pleasant weekend at Columbine Lake cabin

  • 4 of 5

Very quaint cabin with a well equipped kitchen, comfortable bedrooms and nice front and back porch. Enjoyed the backyard fire pit. A short walk to the lake for a beautiful sunset. Nice TV with great reception. My only recommendation for the owners is to replace the living room couch, which in m opinion, is unusable. Springs, cushions totally worn out and not compatible with the upgrades and standards of the cabin.

Terrific cabin, perfect location

  • 5 of 5

We loved this cabin and found the location to be perfect. Out of the thick of Grand Lake Village, right on the edge of RMNP. It was clean, comfortable, and cozy. The cabin has everything you need for an at-home-like stay (except for a small dresser to fully unpack!). It's a gem.

Soft green cabin. Beautiful pine ceiling and walls. WIFi, games, books, DVD's, TV for rainy days. Great Hiking guide. Area is quiet peaceful beautiful setting. Very close to Rocky Mountain Park.

Only thing missing was a hairdryer.

We saw moose, deer and a red fox near the cabin. And had a great breakfast at O-A Bistro at Gateway Hotel.

Beautiful spot outside of town near a lovely little lake. Beds were comfortable and everything we needed was provided. Saw moose, elk, a fox and other wild life. Grand Pizza in town was excellent! Also Blue Water Bakery, yum!
