About the property

3rd floor Condo, 2 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 1.25 Baths, (Sleeps 4-6)

Delightfully sturdy 2 BR condo on the top floor (3rd) with sleeping for 6. PLEASE NOTE THIS IS A WALK UP BUILDING. THERE IS NO ELEVATOR. We stayed at Gold Camp just before Christmas 2010 and enjoyed the convenient and affordable location so much that we closed on a similar unit in November 2011. We are a family business with our 33 yo son who lives in Breckenridge looking after the condo and is available in the rare instances of something going wrong.

We will be honest and state the following:

a) We are 0.4 miles from peak 8 and is a doable walk in snow board boots but the free shuttle stop to both peaks 7 and 8 is 100 yards from the condo entrance. The service is reasonably frequent.

b) The décor is dated but not gaudy and we boast an in-wall sound system complete with cassette player, so bring your old tapes! We have linked an ipod/iphone connection to the cassette player. The radio has both FM/AM and is a treat.

c) We have replaced the smaller appliances (toaster, electric kettle)

d) We replaced the stove in October 2014 but the other major appliances (fridge, microwave, and dishwasher) work fine. However, they might remind you of your mom’s kitchen when you were a kid.

e) We have replaced all the linen (sheets, pillow cases, matress protectors, and towels) and have introduced duvets. The linen is replaced on a regular basis.

f) We are on the top floor with great views, more room with the vaulted ceiling, and quieter (a lesson we learnt from our previous stay when we could hear people walking around upstairs). I don't know why others think being on a lower floor is an advantage as we use the trip up and down the stairs as part of our ski warm up and cool down.

g) It is children friendly for those above 7 years old (maybe 5) because of the railing on the patio. The door to the patio is lockable but our toddler days are, ambivalently, long behind us so we don't want families with young children looking for a relaxing holiday and yet be concerned about the patio railing. As mentioned above our middle 33 yo son works in Breck and maintains the property for us.

h) Sleeping consists of a queen bed in one room, 2 twins in the other and a long hallway between the 2 rooms for added privacy. Bathroom and vanity are off the very well. There is also a king size sofa bed in the living room.

While we provide bathroom tissue, towels etc, washing up gear, some condiments but we DO NOT SUPPLY LITTLE SOAPS NOR SHAMPOO. We are trying to keep prices down so consider these items that guests should bring themselves.

Why Mark and Patricia Fogarty chose Northwest

Our son has worked at Breck for the last 8 years and we have bought the condo to spend more time with him. One of our IRAs was going nowhere so we liquidated it and now have an 'investment' we can use.

We like the proximity to the slopes and the relative isolation on the top floor. We are not out to make money, just cover our costs to spend more time with our son.

What makes this condo unique

While we were attracted by the winter sports, there is a saying here that people 'come for the winter but stay for the summer' and having spent a couple of summers here we know why: hiking, white water rafting, local events...beautiful

Perfect location, clean, cozy and great price!

We loved every part of this condo. The location was super close to the mountain, the hot tub was right out the front door of the building, the old school style of the condo was so nice too! We will definitely be renting in the future. You can't beat the price either. Would highly recommend this to friends and families.

Perfect size for 6 Guests! Perfect Location! We will be back!!

Mark and Patricia's home was perfect for our group of 6's weekend get away! 100 yards from the bus stop and a two minute ride to the gondola made it perfect for skiing and spending time in downtown Breck! The place was clean, comfortable, and most importantly cozy! We can't wait to come back to visit again! :)

Wonderful time in Breckenridge!

We had such a wonderful experience in Breckenridge, CO and hope to go back soon. The condo was great. There were only 3 of us so there was plenty of space. We loved the huge coat rack in the hall, the fireplace, the stereo, and the large bar/ kitchen table. The only things that I didn't like were the shower head in the shower and the fact that we couldn't find more toilet paper when one of the guys were in desperate need (I had no idea how much males use the bathroom until I went on this trip with 2 of them). We were only there for 2 nights and they flew through that first role and I couldn't find another. Those 2 things were very minor and we would definitely stay here again. Thank you again for having us in your condo!!!

We loved staying at your place.

We had a great time despite lack of snow! We used the gas fireplace a lot, found everything we needed for cooking our basic meals, beds were comfortable, location was perfect for us; close to town, 1 block from Nordic Center, close to downhill base, and close to hiking! Our only dilemma was we did not find extra toilet paper in the condo so bought some at the store- no big deal.

Communication with the owner was great, and helpful. I had asked some specific questions about the location and got detailed and honest responses plus contact information in case we did have any problems while we were staying at their condo.

The condo has older décor, but perfect for our family. Everything worked well too.

Should you ever tire of skiing/snowboarding in Breck there are other resorts nearby such as A Basin, Keystone within 10 to 15 mins. Further afield are Vail, Beaver Creek and Copper Mountain.

As well as being a great ski/snowboard resort, Breckenridge is also an old gold mining town and has an informative museum and some of the original mining cottages survive as well as the dredges used to mine gold. Spot the commercial dredge now used as a restaurant. Also nearby are other old mining towns (e.g. Fairway) and gold panning opportunities as well.

  • The bathroom itself has a shower/bath with a lavatory. Along the hallway are 2 sinks with H/C water. In the 70's, this was, apparently, considered a good idea. We will let you make your own mind up but we like it. Very good carpentary around the house, another 70's trait.
