The Auburn Colony is for the vacationer who wants to tap into the history and traditions of colon...

This turn of the century quintessential Maine cottage has had some renovations, while maintaining it’s period of architecture and classic furniture. There are six bedrooms, 2 on the main floor, one with a full size bed, one with 2 twin beds, which also presents an attached half bath. 4 bedrooms on the second floor, 3, each with queen beds, one with an attached half bath, the other second floor bedroom (the Master) offers a king size bed, also with an attached half bath. Two full baths in the cottage, one on the main floor, one on the second floor.

The kitchen is nicely stocked with all you need to create your own meals, with a small table. The sun porch is where most love to share their meals, at the big table ! The living room is roomy, with enough seats for the whole family to relax, and also has a small round table with 4 chairs. This lovely, vintage cottage is part of the Auburn Colony, which is a Turn of the Century Colony that families from Maine owned and used as their summer residences. Founded in 1876, this cherished community of 10 cottages holds its place in the National Register of Historic Homes. Twenty Acres of fields & woods, endless meadows overflowing with wildflowers with the spotlight on the Maine Lupine ! Grande, shingled cottages sit on the hill capturing the sunrises & sunsets of breezy, sunny summer days. Row boats and kayaks speckle the shores. Included on the property, you can choose to lounge in the pool while soaking in the Maine Summer, engage in the activities at the Dining Hall, relax at the rec hall, and simply enjoy each sunset which will amaze you each evening ! Sights and smells of years gone by come to life in this captivating Colony !

The Auburn Colony is for the vacationer who wants to tap into the history and traditions of colony life. The property boasts wonderful water views, shared facilities, including a beautiful outdoor pool, recreation hall, play area for children, beach access for kayaking, and a clay tennis court. The Auburn Colony also shares The Grand Dining Hall on the with cottage owners, guests, and renters, which in the past has served dinner, where a dress code was still maintained. Sadly, things changed in 2020, and it has not been functioning in the same manner. It is now coming back to life with celebrated events, uniquely themed dinners, cocktail parties, lobster/clam bakes, etc. Maybe one day, the Dining Hall will run as it used to, as it's an impressive building offering its' own history lesson to all who enter ! In order to stay at any cottages in the Auburn Colony, during the summer months, renters are required to pay an additional resort fee, of $150 for use of the In-Ground Pool, Tennis Court, and Rec Hall. The history of the Colony adds so much to our Harpswell community and heritage ! This particular cottage is simply beautiful, and has been well maintained all of these years.
