Absolutely loved our stay. What a special place! The beautiful cove view was so nice we decided to stay in for dinner for two nights instead of heading out. Cabin is a smaller but a good size for two people and our 25 lb dog. Rustic and cozy and bright. We enjoyed adventuring in Harpswell, Baileys Island and Bath. Picturesque views just about everywhere! Lots of fun shops, places to eat and hiking/ocean views without being crowded (we went in September.) Highly recommend!
The cottage has beautiful views, is very well appointed and private. The owners/hosts were welcoming, helpful and very responsive. A lovely experience!
surprisingly well stocked. Really liked the privacy! More lighting would be nice. Would replace the island with a standard table for card & board games and for eating-found the stools too high and uncomfortable- a shorter queen mattress would be nice the deck & chairs need a good cleaning(mold). With the nit-picking done we had a great time
The property is located in a unique, beautiful location. The cottage was clean and tidy but very small. The bed is a full size, not queen. The futon is the only seating choice and quite uncomfortable.
The location is very unique and provides views of Lobster boats, birds, and ducks. The point that the house sits on is right on a spot where the high tide goes right up to the stairs of the cottage and recedes to reveal shallow rapids. It is called the reverse falls. Great for the 2 of us. We would come back. God bless the veteran buried off the front porch.
I'm glad there wasn't a picture of the path down to the place on the VRBO page. I would have rejected it, because I have a permanent form of vertigo. BUT, then we would have missed out on one of the best places we've ever stayed in Maine. The other 78 yr old helped me up and down the path every day. "On the Rocks" is and adorable cottage, just made for two. The minute we saw the porthole door, we were hooked. With its horizontal, varnished knotty pine walls and wide plank flooring, it was perfect. We really wished there had been a printed history of the place from interior to exterior landscaping. Who built it? When was it built? Who was Albert E Johnson, and why is that marker here? There aren't enough good things to say about the cabin. Plus...we felt like we were on the Basin Cove of "Fundy". What a delight to watch and listen as the tides go in and out. As we arrived, we knew it would be special when a bevy of Flickers greeted us. There are so many wonderful water fowl to watch and enjoy: great blue herons, kingfishers, and two osprey and an eagle even appeared from time to time. The ducks, gulls and cormorants would sail the rapids with the tides. We're so glad we had two weeks to enjoy "On the Rocks".

What a nice getaway we had. The cabin is secluded with pretty views. There’s quite a bit of wildlife to watch (we saw a deer, a coyote, blue herons and ospreys). Across the way we watched the lobster coop work in full swing loading lobster pots onto boats and then later unloading lobsters. My husband fished right off the property.

Super cute, cozy cottage right on the water - super peaceful and relaxing. Loved the crystal clear water and seeing so many crabs - all sizes! We met the owner who lives next door. He took us for a boat ride to explore the area and he gave us some history about the area and the cottage - what a treat!

Had a great time "On the Rocks". Caught stripe bass almost every day and harvested clams and mussels, all out the front door! The tidal change is amazing to behold. Bought a few lobsters (off the boat) and caught many mackerel at the lobster wharf across the way. Had an amazing lobster roll and chowder at nearby establishment. Cottage provides all essentials.
The cottage was lovely and very clean. The view was incredible! We enjoyed watching the tide go in and out along with the lobster boats at the dock. The cottage felt secluded and restful.
We live just N. of Boston and have relatives in Brunswick... but we have only recently discovered Harpswell. We wanted to explore the area, including Orr's and Bailey's island...we were seeking a small, warm and cozy cottage on the water and we were not disappointed! The house is surrounded by water on 3 sides - views and scenery were stunning. There was always something to see.. lobster boats, osprey, sea ducks...., and lovely sunrises and sunsets - we enjoyed sitting outside on the deck and purchased fresh lobster from a lobsterman on a local dock. We went on several nearby hikes and and had a very relaxing long weekend. Highly recommended -
Fabulous location! Surrounded by water. So peaceful and tranquil watching the sunrises, sunsets, and lobster boats heading in and out. Will definitely return!
