Perfect desert hideaway

  • 5 of 5

A wonderful cottage in the desert. We enjoyed being so close to the Desert Museum and the many hiking trails. The Mexican tiles throughout the house and the cowboy motif were well done and they really reminded us of the history of the area. Would we recommend this hacienda?--Absolutely!

"The Desert Nature Channel"

  • 5 of 5

Read the previous 5 STAR reviews. It's all true. We were lucky to spend more than 4 months at this perfect place and yes, there was a resident owl above the front porch. And yes, the hosts are the best.

If you want to look out the window at the "Desert Nature Channel " this is the place. We saw a gorgeous bobcat right by the living room window.

Look for the Tucson musician Naim Amor, a former Parisian. His song "Creole" sets a perfect SW mood.

Eat at "Seis" in the Mercado San Agustin. You will want to move to Tucson...we are !

The Haven On The Hill

  • 5 of 5

I spent many months of bliss at the Hacienda with the tranquil skies and quiet nature all around me. As soon as I would head West out of Tucson, my heart would lift with the view of the Sahuaros and mountains. The casita is situated an ideal distance from the city with a nighttime view of twinkling lights, exquisite sunsets and brilliant moonrises. I would write, dream and sleep, surrounded by the stars and desert wonder.

I was blessed to have little owls keep me company on the terrace throughout my visit, as well as an array of other fine birds. Shooting stars graced my view through the large picture window over several nights. Nancy and Patrick are the most wonderful hosts and take care of every need. I would recommend the Hacienda to anyone seeking a desert experience combined with discovering the sights of Tucson, as downtown is just minutes away. Everything about my stay at the Hacienda was memorable and brought me joy and pages for my book! The view from my window of the rainbow over the mountain says it all! Kathleen

Can't wait until our next visit.

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our month-long stay at this handsome hacienda and can't wait until our next visit. Well situated near the city of Tucson- you feel like you're in the middle of the desert- very quiet except for the calling coyotes, hooting owls and singing birds. And even though the very nice owners live next door, they left us alone and we never saw them except when we asked for help regarding things that had nothing to do with the house. Speaking of which, the cozy hacienda is tastefully decorated and furnished with all of the essential amenities and very clean. We especially enjoyed relaxing on the patio on the east side of the house overlooking a wash that provided great views of the Santa Catalina and Rincon mountains as well as sitting on the west side for the sunset over the Tucson Mountains. Simply put, this is a great place maintained by great people.

Artist delight

  • 5 of 5

I've been out 5 years in a row & would not consider staying any other place. Great location.

Country feel but close to town. Great views for my painting. Large windows for viewing nature. Surrounded by mountains. You won't be disappointed.

So good, I came back for another stay!

  • 5 of 5

I originally stayed rented out the Hacienda Hideout while I was in grad school back in 2009, and I loved it so much that I promised myself I'd come back at some point. Although that was five years ago, I finally made it back, and I am still in love with this place. Even though I was an older student when I stayed here the first time, this place was/is like the ultimate getaway and is a great place to stay for weekend trips, a romantic getaway, or for the ultimate snowbirds. Each time I came home, I felt like I was escaping from the city! It is a cute little guest house on a ranch just yards away from the main house with stunning views of the mountains on the eastern and western sides. You are essentially surrounded by nature-- a saguaro and barrel cacti outside your window and depending on the season, you might see a fox, javelina, hummingbirds, deer, or owls in the yard! The house is a designed in a very traditional Southwestern style with polished concrete flooring, sturdy hardwood and quality leather furniture, authentic Southwestern decorations, and includes a washer and dryer! There is a back patio with an amazing view of the mountains and is great for breakfast and enjoying the sunsets. You don't want to miss out on this one! The location is perfect, too! It is also conveniently close to Gates Pass-- allowing easy access to watch the sun rise and set everyday if you wish along with the Saguaro National Park (west side), the Desert Museum, and old Tucson. Downtown is close by and there is a farmer's market along with several grocery stores nearby, as well.

The landlords are amazing, too-- very down-to-earth, friendly, and accomodating people-- they go out of their way to make you feel at home. I asked if the guesthouse had a juicer, and they bought one! I have rented guesthouses all over the country, and I have to say that this place is my favorite of all.

Trust me on this one, folks-- you don't want to miss out!
