A little bit of heaven!
I rented this home with my mom, aunt & uncle this past week. Our stay exceeded all of our expectations! This home is beautiful - so tastefully decorated, with all of the amenities of home and more. It's very comfortable. The appliances and the kitchen wares are built-to-last, not the lesser quality normally found in furnished rental properties. I'm also partial to outdoor showers for post-beach excursions and this one happens to have HOT water, too - bonus! Hanging out after our day-time adventures was my little bit of heaven - I sat on the chaise provided on the deck with a cold beverage and exhaled. You know there are neighbors, because of the occasional car or voice, but it still feels secluded.
In terms of location, this property is far enough away from route 6 to have no clue about the traffic situation out there, but close enough that just about every destination is easy access. We went to beaches on the bay side (Corn Hill and Great Hollow) and one on the ocean side (Ballston). All incredibly beautiful, with even the bayside beaches boasting gorgeous dunes usually found on the ocean side. We also spent ample time in Wellfleet and Provincetown, which were easily accessible going east or west on route 6. We also ended up heading to places like Brewster, Chatham and Orleans - further away, but still fairly easy access from the home, depending on traffic.
The owners sent us (with hard copies at the home) two documents that came in handy - the first was about the home itself, where to find appliance instructions, how the new central a/c works, trash days, etc. The second included a lengthy list of things to see, taste and do. We used that as our guide for what we would do every day. And we ended up doing just about all they suggested - Highland Lighthouse, Truro Vineyards, Wellfleet Audobon nature center (plus we signed up for a boat tour of Nauset Marsh - a highlight!), plus we added a very worthwhile visit to Pilgrim Monument in Provincetown. We also dined at just about every establishment referenced in the document, with a special shout-out to Blackfish, right in Truro and less than 1 1/2 miles away.
This home was incredibly comfortable for 4 of us - but could easily handle more. Each bedroom has a ceiling fan, so there was no need for the new a/c, but it was nice to know it was there if we needed it.
All in all, I can highly recommend this destination for your home base for any number of Cape Cod adventures.
Our property is 1.5 miles to Corn Hill beach down a quiet road, a half mile to Truro Center, 3 miles to the Oceanside Truro Town beaches, 10 minutes to Wellfleet Center and 10 minutes to Provincetown with access to the many National Seashore beaches! Fantastic sites and activities nearby include the Highland Lighthouse and Museum, the Highland Golf Course, wine-tasting at Truro Vineyards as well as hiking, bike trails and local theatre. Provincetown and Wellfleet are each a ten-minute drive away where you can find great restaurants, sightseeing, shopping, whale-watching and dune tours, and fabulous art galleries. It is just a couple of minutes to Route Six for fresh seafood and an organic farm stand! A locals guide to restaurants, shops, activities, beaches and other resources will be provided to you upon rental.
