About Kim Bergstrom

I'm Kim Bergstrom. My husband, Eric Bergstrom, and I have built on my father's dream of owning a beachfront house on the Oregon Coast. We now own three, and continue to grow! We purchased our family beach house from my father in 1996, and have thrived through sweat equity - most people think of us as rather crazy, but we've taken something we love to do and are making it our second chapter in life.

We enjoy taking properties with potential and great location, adding a facelift without removing the character, and introducing them to our expanding group of guests. Our latest endeavor is a turn of the century three story house which sleeps 20. We put a lot of thought and work into each house, and luckily have found guests who love the results. Like many of our guests we've come to know over the years, we hope you also come to think of this special house as your very own vacation home - without all the work!

Kim Bergstrom purchased this cottage in 1960

Why Kim Bergstrom chose Neahkahnie Beach

This house is obviously special to us. I grew up spending summers searching through Manzanita tide pools, jumping waves, skinning my knees while learning to ride a bike, following my brothers and cousins into town to buy penny candy and comic books, hiking up Neahkahnie mountain, crowded around the Thanksgiving table with family and friends.

In 1984, Eric may have made the biggest mistake in his life when visiting the beach he asked me "What's there to do down here?" Two years later he had fixed up the house put in the lawn during the late spring rain and married me in the new grass next to the beach on a sunny August day.

When people ask me about the house my standard reply is it is charming and full of character. If you're looking for a new condo experience this isn't the right match. But if you're looking for a true coast experience, whether as a couple, a family, with a group a friends, or just yourself, this is definitely the place to relax and enjoy a truly wonderful get away.

What makes this cottage unique

Spend your next relaxing vacation at one of the true oceanfront homes on the North Coast / Manzanita area! Many rentals advertise as oceanfront but have a road or other public access between their house and the beach. Your private paradise awaits!

Loved this cozy beach house!

  • 5 of 5

We loved the Oceanfront Cottage and plan to be back! The location can't be beat - it's the quiet end of the beach but easily walkable to town. The deck and view are the best we've had on Manzanita beach and we've been staying there for many years. The decor is nicely updated and with some minor exceptions in the kitchen the house was very clean. The beds are all super comfy and the house is well-stocked with everything you need. Management was very communicative and quick to respond with questions.Thank you Houses on Manzanita Beach!

Attractively updated house on a wonderful stretch of beach

  • 5 of 5

I'm not sure an ocean front house could be better situated than this one. The front of the house faces the street, but is designed to offer privacy. The back of the house, however, is open and light and large windows and sliding glass doors bring the view, the light and the ocean breeze right into the house. A large deck provides both sitting and dining space. We spent time there, when we weren't walking the beach or exploring the coast or discovering Manazita. We enjoyed a day trip to Cannon Beach and Seaside, but Manazita is a delightful village offering shops, restaurants, and galleries -- without the traffic congestion in Seaside or Cannon beach.. There's a Fresh Foods on the north end of town and we were able to get not only the basics, but some good Oregon wines. (There's a larger Fresh Foods in Cannon Beach, as well.) The interior of the house is paneled in light pine and has beautiful slate flooring, and although it has been refurbished, it blends a modern vibe with that of a traditional beach house. We truly enjoyed our stay here and would love to return.

Lovely beach location

  • 4 of 5

Nice cottage on the beach with comfy beds, big well-supplied kitchen and clean bathrooms. Great family spot for walks on an uncrowded beach. The town is sweet with fun shops and restaurants. On the down side, the toaster and oven broiler didn't work. Couldn't get the dishwasher to work at first, but called the owner who quickly helped get it going. We never did find the fire pit! I would go here again if I had a working toaster! Thanks.

Very nice stay! Comfortable, clean and nicely updated...but simple. We'll do it again!!

We enjoyed the house and our stay so much! We cooked in rather than eating out and enjoyed our nice long walks on the beach. Meals, happy hour and cards out on the just doesn't get much better than that! We had everything we needed.
