About Valerie Jarstad

What I love about Colorado is what I think brings a lot of people here -- it's very laid back, and Denver is just big enough as a city to have culture, restaurants and shopping, but just small enough to be really easy to get around.

I love the mountains -- skiing, hiking, backpacking, mountain and road biking, and am happy to share suggestions about where to go and what to do depending on your interests.

I see no reason to hold 'local's secrets' -- if there is something I can share or help you with to make your stay more enjoyable, I hope I can provide it.

Why Valerie Jarstad chose Denver

This location is literally in the midst of some of the best restaurants, fitness centers, shopping and cultural attactions (Elitch's Six Flags, Ocean Journey Aquarium, and the Museum of Contemporary Art). I also love the fact that it keeps its neighborhood feel.

Lower Highland, the gateway to Coors Field!

  • 5 of 5

My wife and our two house dogs once again stayed in Valerie's Lower Highland home away from home so as to attend a Colorado Rockies baseball series.

Once again we were treated well in our reservation and arrival and our stay was extremely enjoyable.

Our activities included morning walks with the dogs along the access to, and in, the walking park that runs along the South Platte River, morning breakfasts at the Gallop Café, afternoon dog walks in the neighborhood, beverages at numerous spots on the way to the ballpark and on the way home, with a special affinity for the Prost Brewing Company in the Lower Highland, and general lounging and taking it easy.

The quiet neighborhood sure beats anything in downtown Denver and it is only a short walk from downtown if you actually need that kind of human interaction. We have found that we do not, except on the morning of our departure when we did sneak in to downtown for a breakfast at Sam's No. 3!

Thank you Valerie!

Owner's Response: I feel very fortunate to have a number of repeat guests, and I love it when visitors really take advantage of LolaPlace as a home base for exploring the neighborhood. Tom and his wife do just that when they come to Denver and I always love having them!

Charming all the way around

  • 5 of 5

We chose the Lola Place for it's close proximity to Coor's Field. Very updated, charming townhouse was pleasant for the 4 of us to stay, I personally loved the New Age Vibe and having a window ac unit right in the bedroom made me very happy and comfortable. The older neighborhood felt "safe" and we always were able to park close to our door. Lots of basics in the kitchen cupboards to help make our stay very homelike. The guys could watch TV while the girls sat outside in the small garden / backyard space and enjoy a glass of wine in the quiet. Vacations can be just too noisy sometimes. Having a washer and dryer onsite is a big plus especially if you stay for a few days. Valerie answered all of my questions in a timely manner before our arrival, and also after we got there. We would stay there again.

Excellent Time in Highlands

  • 5 of 5

Excellent town home and very convenient. Walking distance to many great restaurants and activities. Very clean and we enjoyed the small backyard for morning coffee. I would highly recommend this rental for a visit to Denver. It is home away from home.

Owner's Response: I so appreciate when people take time out of their busy days to give a good review. And it's also my pleasure to say the feeling was mutual with my guests -- they were a pleasure to communicate with and really embraced all of the best parts of the neighborhood.

Lola place was the perfect place to stay for me and my 5 girlfriends. Was in walking distance of a lot of downtown entertainment. Would definitely recommend.

Interesting and clean Condo.

  • 2 of 5

The condo was clean when we arrived. There was lots of leftover food in the refrigerator and cupboards (?). The furniture, throw pillows and area rugs were quite dated and were not clean.

It appeared that a pet may live in the home. We loved Denver and did many fun things but would not recommend this place.

Owner's Response: I'm very sorry you didn't enjoy your stay at LolaPlace. Having traveled the world, and stayed at a number of places, I understand the value that your "home base" has in the overall visit. I do keep condiments, spices, coffee, tea, etc in the cupboards because most other guests have really enjoyed having those things available for use. However, the cleaning crew should not have left the extra food in the refrigerator. As for a pet living in the home, unfortunately this is why I no longer allow pets except on a very case by case basis. I did have a guest whose dog did damage certain pieces in the home that I need to replace now that I have returned from my own travels. However, the other pieces in the home, rugs, etc -- none are older than between 2 and 6 years and sheets, towels, etc are replaced regularly. At the end of the day, my goal is to provide a clean, comfortable and cozy place to stay, so if that was not your experience, I'm very sorry about that. I hope your future VRBO experiences feel better than this one.
