About Ann and Chuck Benson

Owners Ann and Chuck Benson love welcoming guests to their beautiful property in Colorado. They both love the outdoors and Colorado and have traveled extensively in Colorado and around the world. They have lived in Colorado Springs since 1986 and have extensive knowledge about the area. Chuck is a retired architect and art historian and lectures on art and architectural history. Ann is a part time dental hygienist, and the main innkeeper. They live in the main house with their 2 cats, Max and Mim.

Ann and Chuck Benson purchased this guest house in 2007

Why Ann and Chuck Benson chose Cascade

We purchased this property in 2007 after Ann had a dream of an adobe guesthouse that welcomed travelers and people in need of healing and restoration. The Sanctuary of the Rose officially opened its doors a year later.

What makes this guest house unique

Guests staying at The Sanctuary of the Rose will have the perfect Colorado experience of being 'in' the mountain foothills with beautiful mountain views, and yet will be close to all Colorado Springs attractions, restaurants and hiking trails. The Sanctuary is the only guesthouse on the property it shares with the main house, and so it is quiet and private.

Amazing guesthouse!

  • 5 of 5

The Sanctuary of the Rose is the perfect place to find rest, relaxation, and rejuvenation. I've been three times at this point, and love how beautiful, clean, and peaceful it is at the Sanctuary. I like to go for personal retreats, and I always come away from it at peace and refreshed. The labyrinth is a wonderful prayer aid -- it's very easy to focus while walking the path. Ann is a gracious and attentive host, and she has made a beautiful place to get away and relax. I highly recommend this guesthouse to anyone!

Ann makes your stay here feel as if you are home. This is our second stay here and will not be our last. This little cabin is comfortable, cozy and quiet. It is very close to Colorado Springs and all the sites but out of the way and very relaxing. From wine in the fridge to chocolates on the table this cabin is the place to stay in the Springs area.

The best R&R!

  • 5 of 5

This was our third stay at the Sanctuary (there would have been more, but it's always booked!). It is the best! It is very quiet and peaceful, and the view of the mountains is stunning. But you are also minutes away from Manitou Springs and Colorado Springs. It's also walking distance to The Wines of Colorado and Backroom Pizza. Both awesome places to eat.

We love staying at the Sanctuary. Ann doesn't skimp on the details. The towels, the soaps, and even the tissues are first rate! As we pull out of the driveway on our last day, my husband and I discuss our next trip to the Sanctuary.
