THE SANCTUARY OF THE ROSE is a historic 1930 adobe guesthouse for couples or singles, located near the base of Pikes Peak in the beautiful Rocky Mountains near Colorado Springs and rated EXCELLENT by VRBO patrons.

BEAUTIFULLY DECORATED in southwestern décor, The Sanctuary of the Rose features a full sitting room with a corner kiva gas fireplace, original ceiling vigas, wood floors and air conditioning. About Ann Benson

Owners Ann and Chuck Benson love welcoming guests to their beautiful property in Colorado. They both love the outdoors and Colorado and have traveled extensively in Colorado and around the world. They have lived in Colorado Springs since 1986 and have extensive knowledge about the area. Chuck is a retired architect and art historian and teaches art and architectural history part time. Ann is a part time dental hygienist, and the main innkeeper. They live in the main house with their 2 cats, Max and Mim.

Ann Benson purchased this guest house in 2007

Why Ann Benson chose Cascade

We purchased this property in 2007 after Ann had a dream of an adobe guesthouse that welcomed travelers and people in need of healing and restoration. The Sanctuary of the Rose officially opened its doors a year later.

What makes this guest house unique

Guests staying at The Sanctuary of the Rose will have the perfect Colorado experience of being 'in' the mountain foothills with beautiful mountain views, and yet will be close to all Colorado Springs attractions. The Sanctuary is the only guesthouse on the property it shares with the main house, and so it is quiet and private.

The best R&R!

  • 5 of 5

This was our third stay at the Sanctuary (there would have been more, but it's always booked!). It is the best! It is very quiet and peaceful, and the view of the mountains is stunning. But you are also minutes away from Manitou Springs and Colorado Springs. It's also walking distance to The Wines of Colorado and Backroom Pizza. Both awesome places to eat.

We love staying at the Sanctuary. Ann doesn't skimp on the details. The towels, the soaps, and even the tissues are first rate! As we pull out of the driveway on our last day, my husband and I discuss our next trip to the Sanctuary.

Cozy Cottage

  • 5 of 5

This was the perfect place to celebrate our anniversary. It's tucked away on the mountainside with beautiful mountain views. Location is great, close to all the points of interest. Can't say enough about the cottage. It was quaint and very comfortable. Ann, thought of everything. Loved the extras....great luxurious towels, lavender body wash and lotions, menus of the nearby restaurants, info booklets of attractions, water bottles, candy, comfy pillows, games and the great bottle of Chardonnay that Ann gifted us for our anniversary and more. Loved our stay and would definitely stay there aga

Perfect mountain retreat for two!

  • 5 of 5

This guest house was the perfect quiet home base for our trip to Colorado Springs. Ann was lovely to book with and made check in and check out very easy. The guest house was very clean and felt like home and the amenities were excellent. It had everything we needed from delicious coffees and teas and water bottles to a cooler for a picnic or day trip. The mountain view was so pretty and it was nice to sit outside on the private patio to enjoy the crisp cool air. We would absolutely choose to stay here again and would recommend the Sanctuary of the Rose to family and friends.

Peaceful and cozy...special details you don't find elsewhere

  • 5 of 5

Thank you Ann for sharing your special sanctuary with me. Loved the labyrinth and the peaceful little back patio. It was a pleasure getting to know you on our walk around the area. The deer were awesome! Every small detail has been covered in this quaint cottage. It had plenty of room to accommodate my son in the sitting area on the sleeper sofa after 4 days of tent camping, he was loving the comforts of the sanctuary!

I feel as if I have made a new friend for my move to this area in the upcoming months.

A Little Bit of Heaven on Earth

  • 5 of 5

Spent a lovely week at the Sanctuary of the Rose this past March and April. With the directions provided, it was truly very easy to locate, and the minute that I stepped inside the Sanctuary, it felt like a calm and cool, refreshing drink of crystal clear water to a very thirsty, and over extended, traveler.

Every day, I took time to appreciate the gift that is this wonderful Guest House. Beautiful, natural furnishings, a warm and cozy sitting room, an adorably, well stocked kitchenette, a very attractive bathroom, and a snugly queen sized bed with fresh linens, ample blankets, pillows, and quilts, all ready to help you drift off to a smiling dreamland every night.

Morning sunshine, birdsong, a welcome outside table and chairs, deer that felt comfortable enough to visit our side yard a few times that week, the contemplative labyrinth, and such a peaceful view of the mountains.

And, I can’t say enough about Ann and Chuck. We were welcomed when we arrived, and they were very thoughtful and hospitable. Ann had taken the time to put together a wonderful notebook listing of local dining venues should one be so inclined, as well as a television channel guide, and a written explanation of how to walk the labyrinth. Even though the Main House was just next door, there is so much privacy, and, yet, they let us know that they were there if we needed them, which was very kind of them.

Whether it’s rain, snow, a blustery day, or one filled with sunshiny blue skies, if you’re looking for a break from your every day, an escape from the stress of daily living, have a book to write, a script to alter, or, maybe, just need some time away to be together, this Sanctuary is well named. It brought me back to the quiet, relaxation, and serenity that I didn’t realize that I’d been missing. Enjoy!
