About this property

Spacious 6BR | Hot Tub, Fire Place & Pitt | Pet Friendly | Ski Sugar next door

Gather your multi-generational family at The Sugar Nest, a spacious 6-bedroom mountain lodge designed for connection and high-elevation adventure. Located directly on Sugar Mountain, you are just minutes from the slopes and situated near the free winter shuttle route. Whether you’re chasing winter powder or escaping the summer heat, this pet-friendly retreat—featuring a bubbling hot tub and a massive wraparound deck—is your robust home away from home.

TOP HIGHLIGHTS
• Minutes to Ski Sugar / Sugar Mountain Resort
• Hot tub + wraparound deck + fire pit + Weber Summit grill
• 6BR with a clear sleeping layout (great for large families)
• Fast Wi-Fi for work + streaming
• Easy, ample parking (easier than most mountain homes)
• Pet-friendly + kid-ready (pack ’n play, games)

THE SPACE
Finding a rental that comfortably fits 16 guests without “cramped condo” vibes is a challenge on the mountain. We designed The Sugar Nest to be the solution. We aren’t a fragile “museum” home; we are a renovated, fully equipped lodge built for families, pets, and mountain memories.

• SOCIAL LAYOUT: The main level is open-concept, ensuring the cook is always part of the conversation in our fully stocked kitchen.
• TWO LIVING LEVELS: With two distinct living areas, early-rising kids and night-owl adults can coexist peacefully.
• OUTDOOR LIVING: A wraparound deck with a Weber Summit grill, a fire pit for s’mores, and a private hot tub for post-slope/post-hike recovery.

SLEEPING SETUP (Where Everyone Lands)
• MAIN LEVEL: 2 bedrooms, each with a Queen bed. Perfect for grandparents.
• UPPER LEVEL: 1 Primary Suite (King Bed) + 3 additional Queen bedrooms.
• BONUS SPACE: 2 Queen pull-out sofas in the living room for maximum flexibility.

WHY “THE SUGAR NEST” WINS
• THE PARKING PERK: Unlike steep mountain driveways, we offer ample, flatter (for the mountain) parking for multiple vehicles (approx. 5 to 8, depending on size).
• THE “SUGAR BUS” (WINTER BONUS): Near the Grouse Moor Drive winter shuttle route (weekends/holidays).

MOUNTAIN REALITY CHECK (Please Read)
We want your stay to be flawless, so here are a few helpful heads-ups:
• WINTER TRAVEL (Nov–Mar): AWD/4WD or chains are highly recommended. We are at 4,500+ feet; weather changes fast.
• SECURITY: Exterior camera at the front door entry points only. No indoor cameras.

GUEST ACCESS
You have full private access to the entire home and property. Self check-in is easy via an electronic keypad; your unique door code is sent 72 hours before arrival, along with instructions and the home's specific address.

The house was wonderful set up really well for a larger group had everything we needed in the kitchen. A hot tub was great for the kids. We use the fire pit they even supplied wood for the fire. It was just an ideal place to stay. There are like Woodland creatures all around. It was just overall wonderful day. We would love to come back if we were in the area again.

We had a lovely long weekend stay on veautiful Sugar Mountain. The Fall weather was wonderful. There are many nearby activities. Evenings around the fire pit. Bill was very responsive anytime we had a question or an issue. The house is very clean and nicely decorated. This is a great place to stay.

Bill was an excellent host, was very fast at replying to my questions! Check in was a snap. House is great, was very clean and well maintained. Hot tub was very clean, and we enjoyed soaking under the stars. The large yard was perfect for walking our dogs! It’s a great location, very close to Boone and Banner Elk. We enjoyed our stay very much.

Amazing Home

This home was cozy and offered all we needed. The renovated space was beautiful. Weather was not in our favor, so we did not get to utilize the outdoor space, but inside offered plenty of room for our group.

House was perfect.

I cannot say anything bad about this rental! It’s was perfect! We didn’t spend a lot of time there because we were out having adventures but it was a perfect place for our crew! This was my first time VRBO and it couldn’t have gone more smoothly. Will stay here again!

Great Place, and Great Location

My son and I came for the day to visit Sugar Mountain and do some skiing. We are very olease with this hone. Very inviting and comfortable. It is also very clean. What a great way to relax in the Jacuzzi after a full day of skiing. Only downside is that the fireplace did not work upon our visit.Hoping to come back next time and experience the full effect of "Cozy", with a working fireplace.Sincerely,CJB

Why they chose this property

When we acquired The Sugar Nest, our goal was simple: create the most family-friendly, high-value lodge on the mountain. We noticed that most large groups were forced to choose between ultra-expensive luxury estates or splitting up into multiple cramped condos. The Sugar Nest bridges that gap.

We love this property because of its "flow." The main floor lets grandparents relax by the fire without navigating stairs, while the upstairs becomes a haven for cousins and kids to bond. The location is the sweet spot of Sugar Mountain—high enough to get the breathtaking views and cool summer breezes, but low enough that you aren't spending 20 minutes just driving down the mountain to get a gallon of milk.

Whether you are grilling on the deck in July or soaking in the hot tub after a snowy January ski day, this home feels like a hug. It is not pretentious; it is comfortable, durable, and ready for your family's chaos and joy.

What makes this property unique

True 6-Bedroom Capacity: We don't count lofts or open hallways as bedrooms. Everyone gets a door and privacy.

The "Pet-Friendly" Deck: Our expansive wrap-around deck isn't just for views; it’s a secure outdoor space where your furry family members can enjoy the mountain air safely alongside you.

The Parking Advantage: Forget fighting for a spot or parking on a dangerous incline. Our flat, spacious parking area makes loading and unloading gear (and groceries) a breeze.

Tech-Ready: While you are here to disconnect, we know you need to stay connected. Our high-speed internet supports the whole group, from Zoom calls to gaming.

Shuttle Access: Located near the Grouse Moor Drive route, giving you car-free access to the slopes during peak ski season.
