First the positive. This is one of the very few second floor ocean front properties and the view from the balcony is spectacular. You're practically in the ocean and the sound of the waves is wonderful. The condo is nicely furnished.However, we were underwhelmed by the level of service and attention to detail for a property of this price. The place is overrun with gnats -- they're all over the screens, kitchen, bathroom, stairwell leading to front door, etc -- first time we've experienced this in 25 yrs staying at the Kiahuna. Property managers said in a text that pest control wouldn't deal with gnats. So we dealt with them by mopping them up by the hundreds with towels, and closing all windows and turning out all lights after dark. They left a bag of replacement towels at our request, but took 3 days and 2 reminder texts to pick up the old towels which I'd placed in a bag outside the door. There is also no place to store your clothes, perhaps a small issue given the beautiful view. The small bedroom closet is packed with cleaning supplies - mops, brooms, vaccuum cleaner, step stool and many other things. Would be a nice gesture for these to be stored in the outdoor locked cleaning closet to allow the guests a place to hang clothes without getting them entangled in the vacuum cleaner and mop.

We’re sorry to hear about the issues you encountered during your stay, particularly with the gnats. These are commonly present across the resort area during certain times of year and are not isolated to a specific unit. Our pest control vendor advised that gnats tend to swarm in early spring for mating and can increase during warm, humid conditions, especially following periods of heavy rain which did occur due to an unusual wet March. While these are environmental factors beyond our control, we do empathize with the impact on your stay.We also apologize for the delayed towel pickup and hope this had minimal impact, as the items were located outside the home. Thank you again for your feedback. We hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back on a future visit to Kauai.
