Mornings are quiet and bright, with coffee in hand and views that remind you just how far you are from the rush of everyday life.
The Space
Moonlight Ridge is a bright, comfortable chalet designed for relaxed time together. The two-story great room brings everyone into one open space, with large windows that frame the surrounding landscape and fill the home with natural light. The indoor wood stove anchors the living area, making it a cozy place.. Electric heating and air conditioning keep the home comfortable year-round, and a TV and sound system offer easy evenings in.
Sleeping Arrangements
The cabin sleeps up to six guests across three bedrooms, making it a great fit for families or small groups.
Bedroom 1 features a king bed.
Bedroom 2 has a full bed and does not have a door, though it is set apart for a quiet, private sleeping space.
Bedroom 3 includes a full bed.
There are two bathrooms, one with a bathtub, and bathroom essentials are provided for your stay.
Kitchen & Dining
The fully stocked kitchen is ready for anything from simple breakfasts to full family dinners. With plenty of prep space and a dining table nearby, cooking and gathering feel easy and unhurried. Coffee is available to start your mornings, and the kitchen setup works just as well for shared meals as it does for a quiet night in.
Outdoor Living
Step outside to enjoy the natural setting that surrounds the cabin. The hot tub is inviting, offering a relaxing soak under the open sky. The deck and backyard offer space to spread out and enjoy the fresh air. A propane grill and outdoor seating make it easy to spend time outside whenever the weather allows.
Family Comfort
Children’s books, toys, games, and a high chair help make traveling with little ones more comfortable. A washer and dryer are available for longer stays, and a dedicated workspace supports remote work when needed.
Longer Stays
For stays of 14 nights or longer, guests will be asked to e-sign a rental agreement prior to arrival. This agreement helps us comply with local requirements while protecting the property, and will be sent in advance for review.
Location & Nearby Attractions
The cabin sits about 15 minutes from downtown Luray and Luray Caverns, with easy access to local breweries, restaurants, and shops. Shenandoah National Park and Skyline Drive are roughly a 30-minute drive, offering hiking, scenic overlooks, and year-round outdoor exploration. Wineries, local attractions, and charming small-town stops are all close by, making Moonlight Ridge a convenient home base for exploring the area.
Whether you’re soaking in the hot tub on a crisp evening, after a long day out, or enjoying quiet mornings surrounded by nature, Moonlight Ridge offers a comfortable and relaxed escape in the heart of the Shenandoah Valley.
Note
The tap water often has a yellow/light brown appearance due to high minerality levels -- specifically iron and manganese. We’ve had the pipes/well inspected and there’s nothing wrong with them; the presence of iron/manganese is normal in this area, and the water is perfectly safe to drink (although it can occasionally have a slight sulfur smell). We recommend bringing bottled water.
Bedroom 2 does not have a door, but it is still fully private and provides a comfortable, quiet space for your stay.
Our cleaning team sweeps the deck, stairs, and walkways before each arrival, but due to the natural setting, you may still notice some leaves, pollen, or similar—especially during certain seasons. We appreciate your understanding as nature tends to leave its mark, no matter how often we tidy up!
Pet Policy
We’re happy to welcome dogs to join you on your getaway! Please note that due to allergies, we’re unable to accommodate cats. A $29 pet fee applies per furry friend, per night to help cover additional cleaning and care. Thanks for understanding—we look forward to hosting you and your pup!
Our prices include all fees. No hidden fees.

Host was very helpful and courteous. Check in and out was super easy. Only negative was we brought kcups and there wasn't a Keurig but there was ground coffee and filters so that saved the day! Highly recommend this property.
Great yard/ fire pit! Well stocked kitchen. Fast internet. Comfy beds.. Must absolutely bring bottled water...the metallic taste made it difficult to drink.

Family week away
We booked this location for our family holiday. The house is nice, however one of the bedrooms upstairs does not have a door and the internet did not work for the duration of our stay. The host was responsive, but unable to resolve the issue.

Overall the stay was pretty mid. The cabin was not as secluded as advertised. The cabin itself was very hot and the first night was unbearable even with the window unit ac exclusive to the living room. The host did provide fans for the rest of the stay. The shower head in the main bathroom is broken and the oven door cannot be opened as it hits a knob for an adjacent cabinet. There was not adequate towels provided for the stay, particularly as there is a hot tub. Overall it met our needs as we weren't spending much time in the cabin. The host was very responsive, but I did not like how they insist that you register through a second website in addition to VRBO.
I live in DC with my wife and three young kids. I love camping/hiking, drinking (and sometimes brewing) great beer and wine, exploring new restaurants and shops, and traveling all over.
What makes this property unique
We spent years searching for the perfect getaway and wanted to be close enough to DC that we could do a day trip. We fell in love with the area – and Moonlight Ridge in particular. We love how cute and cozy our cabin is, and all the fun outdoor activities we can enjoy year-round. :)
