This treasure is unmatched for a traditional retreat to the beach. A mile south of downtown Cannon Beach and less than a city block’s walk to the sand, you can enjoy easy access to whatever your heart desires.
The Horner Beach House was built in 1928 to take advantage of the best view of Haystack Rock and the Needles. One of the original homes on the hill, the view includes an expansive panorama of the ocean as well as easy access to the beach. The house has just undergone an extensive remodel, preserving the beach cottage ambiance while ensuring that modern amenities make your experience comfortable.
There are several nesting pairs of bald eagles living in the hills behind the beach house. They fly directly overhead on their way to hunt on Haystack Rock. A fantastic spectacle! Haystack Rock is the best place on the coast to see Tufted Puffins from April to August. The Rock also hosts breeding Western Gull, Pelagic Cormorant, Pigeon Guillemot and Black Oystercatcher, Halequin Duck, Brown Pelican, and Peregrine Falcon seen in summer and Greater Scaup and Surf Scoter in Winter.

About Peggy Amato
When we were kids we used to go to Cannon Beach because our neighbors had a house there. Relatives from North Dakota were treated with trips to the beach whenever they visited. After the death of our father, our mom bought this house in 1974 looking forward to spending her retirement at the beach she so loved. It was a favorite spot for family and friends alike. Mom wanted to share this beautiful spot with friends and began renting. We are happy to continue making the house available for others to enjoy.
