Historic Waterfront Beach House on Estuary

Space 2,100 sq. ft.
Property type house
Minimum Stay 5 nights

About the property

Waterfront beach house.

This charming 1903, three level, tastefully restored, waterfront beach house, has panoramic views of Necanicum River, the Estuary, Tillamook Head and Pacific Ocean. Features include, private steps to the soft sand beach, original woodwork throughout the home and claw foot bath tub. Many modern upgrades compliment the quintessential vintage charm.

Create a moment.

Roomy enough for a family clambake (comfortably sleeps 8 in summer, 6 in winter), intimate enough for a romantic weekender, this well-appointed home offers great usable space for cooking, indoor and outdoor seating options for drinking and dining, and big fluffy beds to flop down in at the end of the night. Double fridge/freezer, dishwasher and laundry, coffee maker(s) and cable TV, extra soft linens and clean towels, big windows with lots of natural light (and candles tucked away for the evening hours), a working cook’s kitchen and a sloping grassy yard - this is a flexible, livable space that easily adapts to (and inspires) any adventure.

Relax at the coast.

Tilt your Adirondack chair toward the waves, or curl up with a book in the cozy sunroom. Enjoy private beach access - where fresh meets salt water at the intersection of the Necanicum River and the Pacific Ocean - with crabbing, kayaking, fishing, paddle boarding just steps from your door (all required kit for crabbing is awaiting your arrival - so grab it and go get ‘em!). The wine fridge and fully stocked honor bar is at your disposal (house rules: take a little, leave a little... it all balances out).

If you must work...

Unlimited, high-speed Wifi internet access provided.

Why Jodi Jack chose Northern Coast

It was love at first sight. It is a beach front home, overlooking the estuary and the Pacific Ocean. Add to that the home's historic beauty. We really have never seen anything this unique and beautiful.

Wonderful vintage beach house!

  • 5 of 5

We felt right at home in this charming vintage beach house. Well stocked kitchen--French press, espresso maker!! Our family had a very relaxing time reading on the sun porch, eating great seafood and enjoying beach campfires.

Thank you for sharing your house with us :)

This historical house on the estuary was exactly what we wanted and plenty of charm!

  • 5 of 5

If you love the coziness and quirkiness of older homes, this is for you! I called it my “Summer of ‘42” (movie) house. I found myself wondering about the people who may have lived here at one time and I think it has always been a happy house. You are surrounded with so many fun things from books to sand dollars lined up on the outside window ledge of the sunroom to a clothes line complete with clothespins! There is so much character and charm in this house. I felt right at home from the minute we walked in. The kitchen has absolutely everything you could possibly need or want. And YES! You really can catch crab just a little walk from the house! We were lucky enough to see a herd of deer run right past the house early one morning on our little beach on the estuary! There were at least 50-60 of them – quite a site! Also saw blue heron. As you can probably tell, we loved this house and the estuary. I think I could have easily spent a month there! AND, with all of the fun, whimsical things that were in the house, it was sparkling clean! Hope you love it as much as we did. Where do you think the wooden stove must have been? Who put the time into the wonderful ceiling in the living room and dining room? If you love to dream and romance a little bit about the past you will love this house!

Beautiful getaway!

  • 4 of 5

My husband and I just recently stayed at this beautiful beach house getaway. It was beyond our expectations and suited our needs perfectly. If you are looking for a secluded stay that offers amazing views, this is your place! The home is very clean, well decorated and has every items you might need during your stay. The old charm and feel of the home was exactly what we were looking for. We would highly recommend this home!

Perfect place to stay in Seaside!!

  • 5 of 5

We visited this house July 3-18, 2016. This house was the perfect place for our family (4 adults, 2 boys. Ages 10&15) Everyone had space when in this beautiful up kept 100 year old house. It feels like home with all the amenities that were on site (even had much needed Aloe!!). The weather was perfect for us with. My boys took the clam guns out to the beach and dug for hours every day. One day we tried setting the crab pot with no luck. So we tried what the locals were doing and used a garden rake!! 11 crabs later!!! What a feast we had. We had a quiet nice beach to go to from the time we woke until after our campfires. We were able to sit next to the fire and see all the downtown fireworks along with many more. We brought our kites, but she also had kites along with lots of toys for the sand. We only went downtown for a half a day for lunch and walking, but we much rather be at the beach house!! I would never stay at a hotel in Seaside. We were not on the ocean beach, but you could easily get there during low tide, just make sure you know when the tide is coming in!

The owner checked in with us to make sure all was going well.

I would highly recommend this property and can not wait to go back!!!

Marvelous Memory-Making Birthday Celebration!

  • 5 of 5

My dream to celebrate a special birthday milestone at the ocean became reality at the "Indian House." My0 criteria for a winter visit were: roomy enough for all family members wanting to join me; a well-stocked kitchen; a good view of ocean from inside; comfortable furniture and "homey." We got all these and MUCH more. In addition, I asked for a wild, winter storm. Maybe I will be more careful of what I ask next time but I loved every minute of howling wind and pounding rain. This house has weathered storms since 1904. She is dry and weather-tight. We loved the house and view so much that we cancelled plans to go out to breakfast, made a trip to the store and shared bacon and eggs at the BIG dining table. The house is a perfect place to settle in and not have to go anywhere else. There are trunks full of games, shelves lined with books, boots and buckets for playing in the sand, comfy chairs and couches for settling in, CD''s and TV for entertainment, and a delightful kitchen for cooking great meals. The morning of my birthday, I got up at 4:30, tiptoed downstairs, snuggled into a wing back chair with my coffee, lit a candle and listened to the roar of the winter wind. Perfect! The only negative I found was the lack of a fireplace for winter comfort. The big fireplace in the living not to be used. There is a gas stove in the sunroom but it was too complicated for me to light. This can be easily remedied by installing a new, easy-to-use free-standing "stove" in the sunroom, which was my favorite room but too chilly to linger in for very long. One plus worth mentioning is the owner. She was wonderful... replying to my messages promptly and very accomodating. The entire experience was ideal. I had a perfect place to celebrate my birthday. I loved this place and so did the rest of the family. We thank the owner and her family for sharing their special home with us. I hope I can return but if not, I have fantastic memories to reflect upon. This was a wonderful birthday.

The views are stunning! The home was cozy and kept very well.

  • 4 of 5

You won't find a better view than those from the West coast of Oregon and if your going to go that far west, this is the place you'll want to stay. Great views from the yard, comfortable accommodations and the owner was a joy to work with. Quick with answers to questions and very helpful in getting us the information we needed about the area. You'll love this place!

The clamming season opens in early fall and generally lasts through early to mid-summer.

Razor clamming is closed on beaches south of Seaside, but is generally open on beaches from Seaside - North to the Columbia River.

The daily Razor Clam limit per person is the first 15 clams

Here in Seaside the seafood is fresh, but there's nothing fresher and more satisfying than catching your own dinner.

September through December are probably the best times to go crabbing, however, Dungeness crab can be caught starting in late July or August through February depending on the weather.

Fishing opportunities on the North Coast are plentiful.

The months of May through September yield the richest prospects.

If you prefer fishing local lakes and streams from your own boat or casting your line from the bank, there are plenty of locations to choose from. In Seaside, Quatat Marine Park and Cartwright Park along the Necanicum River offer boat ramp river access, and at Quatat, you can fish right on the river from the docks. Trout, steelhead and striped bass can all be caught along the Necanicum.

Surfing is an very popular sport on the Oregon Coast. At the Cove in Seaside, surfers can be found year-round, practically all day, every day. Seaside is also home to two surf shops that sell and rent boards, wetsuits, and other accessories.

The North Coast is home to some of the best waterways for kayaking and canoeing. From the open ocean and rivers to the shallow picturesque inlets and bays, there are boating opportunities for all skill levels. Most of the year, kayaks and canoes are available from the local recreation rental shops.

The area in and around Seaside is home to several beautiful public golf courses.

Tennis and other Sports

In Seaside, public tennis courts are located at Broadway Park and Seaside High School. Basketball hoops are located at most of the local parks. Broadway park, part of the Sunset Empire Park & Recreation District, has a skate park, area for baseball & soccer, basketball hoops, playground equipment and indoor public swimming pools.
