About the property

Fish Fightingtown Creek from Dock - Trout are biting!

Just Breathe.... Our privately owned and managed smoke free pine planked log cabin, Listen to the Creek, is located in the Trout Capital of GA just 90 minutes north of Atlanta, 90 minutes southeast of Chattanooga, and 30 minutes from Murphy, NC. and 35 minutes from HARRAH's CASINO! Tucked in McCaysville, GA and nestled quietly in the woods on one acre surrounded by ferns and seasonal views of one of the best GA trout fishing streams (some say it is as big as a river), Fightingtown Creek. The creek is not directly on our property....Walk 350 feet down drive and private road to the 8 x 10 ft dock shaded by trees and where the huge trout wait for your hook! Start your morning with coffee and a cool mountain breeze in a rocking chair on the screened porch or wrap around porch. Sit at the table at lunch and watch deer wonder by the window. At dusk, watch the sun set over the tree tops from the swing and rocking chairs on the porch or count the stars while roasting s’mores around the fire pit.

Relax in the 6 person Hot Tub while listening to the creek!

True to its name “Listen to the Creek” is a great relaxing retreat in the mountains with all the comforts of home. Entering on the open main level, you find a cozy living room with a wood burning fireplace (great for a romantic evening), a dining area, and fully equipped kitchen with granite and with place settings for more than 8. About Terri Teems

My husband and I bought this beautiful cabin in 2007. We absolutely love it but find we can't go up as often as we like. So after much nudging from our friends that vacation there regularly we were convinced to share our little piece of serenity with the world!

Why Terri Teems chose McCaysville

This log cabin is tucked in the woods. You'll feel like you are deep in the wilderness but yet you are only 3 miles from a cute mountain town with restaurants, shopping, and a grocery!

Guestbook comments from the owner

Terri,

I wanted to let you know we thoroughly enjoyed our weekend at the cabin! I met up with my cousin and a friend of ours for a much needed girls weekend. Exploring all the small towns, shopping and eating, and then coming back to relax at the cabin is just what we needed to recharge. It was so clean and had everything we could need and more. Thank you for providing such a wonderful spot to get away!

Great place to stay!!

  • 5 of 5

We totally enjoyed our stay here. It was a very nice cabin and the surrounding area...just beautiful. We spent our week with our 4leggged boys hiking in the woods nearby.

Amicola Falls, Benton Falls, and Falling Creek Falls

Highly recommend this home and just saying the road in was not bad at all. I guess if youre used to paved roads and sidewalks you may find it challenging but remember you are booking a cabin in the mountains!!!!

Great Vacation

  • 5 of 5

Awesome cabin, beautiful area, creek was nice and could definitely hear it from the cabin, well equipped kitchen, fire pit and hot tub were clean and cozy. Concrete on driveway was a plus, can't imaging getting there without it. Leaves and moisture on concrete do make it kind of slippery for the vehicle. Recommend pulling straight in and backing straight out.

Very Nice Cabin in a Beautiful Setting

  • 5 of 5

The cabin was out of town a few miles tucked into a wooded area with a beautiful stream nearby. The cabin was very clean ,very roomy and well stocked. The beds were very comfortable and two flat screen tvs. We had no problem with cell phone coverage through Verizon. We also brought our "hot spot" and had internet access as well. We didn't use the fireplace, hot tub or fire pit, but they were very nice. We loved having the large front and side porch and the upper deck screened in porch. Prior reviews had indicated issues with the gravel drive into the area, but we didn't have any issues in our mini van. It rained one day during our visit and the road was graded the following day. The driveway to the cabin from the road is paved and that made it easy to get in and out of the cabin area itself. It was a plus for us to have a Kuerig since we have one at home. The towns of McCaysville and Copper Hill are quaint, but very small. The IGA was fine for picking up a few things we needed. You need to be aware that the Blue Ridge Train arrives a couple of times a day most days and one of those times is at lunch. It puts lots of people into the McCaysville/Copper Hill downtown area. Habenaros in Copper Hill had excellent Mexican food. We had lunch one day at The Rum Cake Lady ..which was very good..and breakfast at Pat's County Kitchen..also very good. After realizing that most of the Trip Advisor restaurants in the area were either very tiny or closed for dinner, we headed to Blue Ridge, which is less that 10 miles away. Very nice downtown area with plenty of free parking once you figure out the layout. It reminded us of a mini Gatlinburg. Plenty of shopping opportunities. We ate and watched football at the Fightingtown Brewery..Good Bar food. We had great pizza at Blue Jeans one night. And didn't miss out on Joe's BBQ. Our best meal was at Cucuina Rustica in Morgantown. Not what you would expect in a tiny little town..but authentic Italian Food..what you would expect from a 4-5 star restaurant. Great wine selection. On our way out, we stopped at Mercier Apple Orchard for breakfast. The breakfast was good. The smell alone of all those apple pies and donuts baking was unbelievable. They have a huge 'store' and you can buy anything apple you ever wanted, plus lots of nice gifts if you need souvenirs. My husband did some fly fishing while we were there and had a great time. It was a great little vacation!

Beautiful secluded cabin rested within the peaceful Blue Ridge Mountains.

  • 4 of 5

The cabin is located off a secluded road with several other nice cabins. The ambiance was beautiful and the cabin very cozy. Everything you needed was provided with the exception of food. Any concerns we had was voiced to the property owners and was well received. The hot tub was my favorite place to relax during the cool morning hours. We made smores at the fire pit, cooked out on the charcoal grill and just enjoyed the natural beautiful scenery with the sound of the creek in the background. There's places to fish as well as horseback riding. My daughter enjoyed the board games and walking down by the creek. We will definitely book this place again.

Our cabin is located in the quaint town of McCaysville where the Blue Ridge train visits most days. Fish off the private dock on one of the best trout streams in GA, Fightingtown Creek, or simply launch a tube off of the dock for a 2 1/2 hour leisurely ride down the creek.

Relax on one of the 3 Decks or soak in the Hot Tub while listening to the creek and watching for wildlife in the woods.
