About this property
Cozy 1940 Toccoa River Front Cottage in Downtown McCaysville
Our river cottage was built in 1940. Perched on the bank of the Toccoa River, our house is perfect for couples or families looking to explore McCaysville, Blue Ridge and the Copper Basin area. Our home fronts Toccoa Avenue in McCaysville which means the Blue Ridge Scenic Railroad is just across the road! It's a favorite activity to step outside when you hear the train whistle so you can wave at the riders as they pass by!
This 1940 River Cottage has 4 bedrooms and two bathrooms.
The first bathroom is a full bath and the second is a large bathroom with shower; perfect for cleaning up after your river activities.
Bedroom one is on the main floor and has a California King bed and a Smart television. Bedroom two is on the main floor and has a queen size bed. Bedrooms three and four are upstairs where the 1940's charm and craftsmanship shines. Bedroom three has a full bed and bedroom four has two built in twin beds. You'll love this charming upstairs space!
The living room has plenty of space for lounging around, watching the smart TV or taking a mid afternoon nap.
Our eat in kitchen with new gas stove is fully equipped to satisfy your cooking needs. Sit at the table and watch the river go by as you enjoy a meal or play a game of cards! This is a favorite spot for many visitors.
We have two adirondack chairs in the back yard to sit in and watch the Toccoa River roll by. We recently (August 2023) added stone steps all the way into the river to give access to the water for fishing, kayaking, tubing, and swimming. While you’re in McCaysville, don’t forget to walk downtown to take your picture straddling the Georgia/Tennessee State line and try out some of the local restaurants. The river house is about 15 minutes from downtown Blue Ridge, Georgia where you'll find lots of shopping and dining experiences and 15 minutes from the Ocoee Whitewater Center, home of the 1996 Whitewater Olympics events. Though the visitor center burned a few years ago, there are year round hiking and biking trails available in the area in addition to seasonal commercial rafting or kayaking excursions on both the Ocoee and Toccoa rivers. As the description says, this is a 1940 River Cottage. It isn't a cabin. It isn't a new build, but we believe you will love this little charmer as soon as you walk in!

The home was very clean and right on the river. We also were able to walk downtown easily. We had a great time and would definitely recommend to others! McCaysville/ Copper Hill is such a fun up and coming town!
We had a great trip and the house was beyond our expectations. It was quaint and very clean. Cant wait to go back! We are already planning our next trip.
Right on the river and within walking distance of the cute little town of McCaysville, Rolling Thunder rafting and tubing. Convenient to venture out to hiking, wineries and the historic town of Blueridge. The host is very friendly and responsive!
Such a cute, vintage house. Loved the location to restaurants and rafting. Excellent communication with the host. Definitely coming back next year for our annual rafting trip.
We had a great visit! The house is very close to the busy road, so that’s something to be aware of with small kids, but we had no trouble! We rarely noticed road noise inside, either. The fence gives an added level of security while playing outside and the back yard is gorgeous with the river running through. Super clean and comfortable!
The house was lovely, comfortable, and welcoming. These are the things I liked the most 1) super clean and comfortable 2)the bed was very nice 3) the view of the river from the kitchen table made snacks, meals, and board games even more special 4) sitting by the river in the Adirondack chairs was peaceful 5) the hosts were great 6) there were reasonable and clear instructions for check out. I highly recommend this property!
We enjoyed our stay in McCaysville and felt like home while we stayed in this nice little cottage. It was clean and the owners were great to communicate with us on anything we needed.
What a great little cottage right on the river. Owners were easy to communicate with. So close to the shops and restaurants. We would certainly stay there again.
This was the perfect home for our quick family getaway!! It was close to everything in town. The house was so clean. My kids loved the upstairs bedrooms!!
We had an amazing stay. House is immaculately clean, well stocked kitchen with everything you could imagine. Hosts always available for any questions etc. We will be back!
The property was so nice and clean. Communication with Sarah was so easy, she responded very quickly, even text to let me know we could check in early. This house has everything you need and is so roomy. Would definitely stay here again.
The house was very easy to find. We had no issues checking in or at any time during our stay. The house is fully furnished & has everything you could need. The weather was perfect when we were there so we enjoyed sitting out back just watching the water & wildlife. Truly an enjoyable getaway!

We are both lifelong residents of North Georgia. We enjoy traveling, but always love to come home to the mountains. We live and work in Fannin County and live near the river house. VRBO may show our house as being in "Williamstown" but it is not. We are in the City Limits of McCaysville, Ga.
Why they chose this property
We plan to ultimately live in this home when we retire. In the mean time we enjoy spending weekends and holidays at the river house.
