Trout Fishing Lodge - Couples' Hide-Away - Nature Lovers' Dream
Whether you are here for the famed Toccoa River trout fishing, hiking and sight-seeing in the Chattahoochee-Oconee National Forest, or a romantic weekend getaway, River Valley Retreat is your dream vacation spot. Located on the banks of the Toccoa River, across from the Toccoa Heights area, River Valley Retreat is only 15 minutes from Downtown Blue Ridge, 20 minutes from Aska Adventure Area and 30 minutes from the new Harrah’s Cherokee Casino.
A true retreat, this newly renovated (2015), rustic cabin sits upon a scenic hillside with beautiful views of the neighboring mountains and the Toccoa River. The magnificent mountain pine log covered deck is perfect for a relaxing evening in a rocking chair, or in the hot tub taking in the majestic scenery of the North Georgia mountains. The three acre property also includes a private dock with direct access to the river and a one acre riverside meadow, perfect for picnicking. It also includes a shared fire pit for relaxing and roasting marshmallows in the evening.
Upon entering the cabin, you are greeted by a western motif entryway and dining area with a pass-through to the kitchen. The artwork features a passion for an equestrian lifestyle in the mountains, in calming blues and greens, accented by unique mountain décor. The main living area features a plush couch, (converts to a queen bed), a big comfy lounge chair, TV with cable, including the sports channels, and a DVD player. For cooler seasons, there’s a real wood burning stove, perfect for curling up to for a romantic evening, or just exchanging fishing stories from your day on the river. The adjacent kitchen features a granite countertop, beautiful natural hickory cabinetry and stainless steel appliances, including a dishwasher. A full sized laundry room provides all of the convenience and comforts of home. The landscaped back yard comes complete with a gas grill and picnic table.
The main bath boasts a one of a kind barn board tub and shower. Rustic cabinets, granite countertop, pewter finish faucets, and rough sawn wood trim finish off this equestrian country bathroom. The Master bedroom features a luxurious antique brass King bed with an extra layer of memory foam for a great night's sleep. The suite includes a large closet and an additional half bath.
The lower Toccoa River has earned a reputation among anglers as one of the best trout rivers in north Georgia...It's long, deep pools separated by rocky shoals make the flow perfect for both trout fishing and floating. Due to its relatively large size, it is a favored water for fly-fishing enthusiasts, and in 2015 it was designated by the DNR as a year round trout river. It is stocked weekly until July 4th, and twice monthly thereafter. You’ll be pulling out mostly rainbow trout, but there are also large numbers of brown trout and a small population of brook trout.
Area activities include fishing, tubing, kayaking, trail rides, Harrah’s Valley River Casino, hiking, bird watching, fall leaf viewing, fine dining, Blue Ridge Scenic Railway, and zip lining. All within approximately 30 minutes or less.
Wednesdays are always $50 OFF with a mid-week, 3 night or longer booking! (Monday - Thursday, excludes Holidays.) Contact cabin owner for details. YOU MUST MENTION THIS PROMOTION when booking, as VRBO will not apply this discount automatically.

Why Ellen and Dan Smith chose Mineral Bluff
We recently purchased this property and completely renovated it, with the vacation renter market in mind. The log front porch with cedar siding was created to add significant curb appeal from the road and an amazing place to spend the majority of your vacation. We could sit out there for hours, sipping some wine, eating some cheese and crackers, and lounging in the hot tub. This property has the perfect mix of amenities and location! The Toccoa River is amazing - so clean and refreshing when it's hot out! The fishing is incredible and we are located at a part in the river where it is wide, with a few deep pockets for fish, and privately owned, so it is not fished as heavily as other sections of the river. On hot day, sitting on the dock, dipping our toes in the water or maybe venturing out on a tubing ride - it's heavenly!
What makes this Cabin unique
It's rare to find a property this large - 3 acres - and this beautiful - within minutes of all kinds of mountain attractions. Blue Ridge is 15 minutes away and has some of the best restaurants and dining options you'll find any where, including a much larger city. We love Harvest on Main, Christie Lee's, and Black Sheep for better fare, but the little advertised Masseria (owned by same restaurateur as Harvest), is a gem for a fraction of the price. Also love La Pizzeria and Cucina Rustica in Morganton. Take time out for yourself and walk the amazing shops on W. Main Street. You'll find unique gifts for any occasion and it's easy to stock up for the Holiday Season, even when it's July. For a quick grocery run, Copper Hill/ McCaysville has a great little IGA about 4 miles away. We also love Rolling Thunder tubing company and browsing some of the shops can also be a nice past time. Murphy, NC is located about 30 minutes away, including the new Harrah's Valley River Casino. Great for a rainy day past time.

Awesome secluded retreat
My wife and I celebrated our 31st anniversary this weekend and couldn’t be happier with our choice. This cabin is secluded with a beautiful view of the Toccoa river from the front porch. This is a very relaxing getaway spot for a romantic weekend or extended stay. The owners Ellen & Dan were also very nice and went out of there way to make our stay as enjoyable as possible. We will definetly return soon and most definitely would recommend this cabin for anyone looking for a relaxing getaway
nice privite cabin, don't forget your fishing pole.!!!!
the house was clean and well stocked with every item that you would need, except no wifi, but then again, it's a good time to enjoy the life around you, insted of spending hours on the laptop. the water was farther from the house than what appeared in the pictures of property. had a wonderful stay. Loved the stars.
The property was great! Beautifully decorated. Dock was great and fire pit. Bed was very comfortable. The only thing not stated is the cabin is not directly on the river, its across the street however this does allow for a nice open field for kids to play football. The hill up to the cabin is steep but hey you are in the mountains. The owner were great and responded promptly.
The Cabin is beautiful and in a great peaceful area. It was perfect for us. We will probably be back. The bed was very comfortable, they had plenty of firewood. The cabin is decorated very nice. The only suggestion that I have is that you have nicer toilet paper. When people stay at hotels or other homes I have even rented, they have decent "TP"...this wasn't even average. It also would be nice to know that you can press the button on the lock before you leave, and when you walk out the lock will lock instead of putting in the code every time. This was not in any of the instructions that we had. I found out the last day when the code changed.
Lovely Stay! We Will Return!
My girlfriend and myself rented this cabin for four nights, M-F. We had a fantastic time! We came the second week of March, it was a particularly chilly and windy week and the water was running high. Despite the weather not working perfectly in our favor we still fished the river(and caught and ate the trout), swam in the river (with a think wetsuit) and hiked the surrounding trails (highly recommend Swinging Bridge). We also used the grill and the hot tub almost every night. We can't wait to come back mid-summer during dry season with warmer air. There is no phone or internet (which wasn't a big deal for us but, it could for some). Bring some dvds and/or puzzles. Very comfy bed and everything was VERY clean. Also, this owner is VERY responsive and punctually returned any money (discounts/deposits) that we were promised. Clean, honest, and affordable. Really, what more can you ask for?
Great 2nd stay
This was our second stay at this wonderful cabin. It was just as lovely as the first . On this trip my husband booked a fishing guide for a float trip , trout fishing and had a very successful day with landing 19 trout . While he was out fishing, I booked a 1/2 day spa treatment at the Serenity Spa . I recommend this spa very highly. The rest of our visit was spent relaxing at the cabin . Great visit and stay.
Located approximately 15 minutes from Blue Ridge, GA, 6 minutes from Copper Hill, TN, and 30 minutes from the new Valley River Casino in Murphy, NC, provides visitors with a very diverse and interesting choice of mountain activities. There are great restaurants, places to fish, hike, swim, and play all throughout this tri-state area.

Additional information about rental rates
At this time there is no reliable internet service in this area, sorry no WiFi. However, guests are welcome to bring their own hot spots - MiFi (Verizon) or cell phones with Hot Spot capabilities work reasonably well here. Verizon and At&T work best. Our cleaning fees are a fee dollars more than some other cabins, however, this is because we require that the cleaning crew empty and sanitize the Hot Tub in between every set of guests. So jump in and enjoy!
