Direct soundfront home on dead-end street in private, gated community down exclusive Coast Guard Road. Enjoy fishing and sunsets at one of the largest docks on the island. Bring your boats, jet skis, paddle boards, kayaks, etc. Take your boat to a nearby sandbar or enjoy a short walk to the beach. Catch shrimp and bait fish right off the dock with your cast net. Rent a golf cart for little expense and enjoy the direct ocean front golf cart parking lot.

We believe this house offers all of the best of Emerald Isle, and does not limit your vacation to solely ocean front beach days. Recent updates not shown in the photos include a 60" flat screen TV in the family room. Lower level of home has pool table. Most of our guests rent a golf cart for the week, as there is a golf cart parking lot at the beach access directly across from our neighborhood.

Perfect location

This is our second time renting this property. We have a family reunion of nearly 50 people every two years and this is one of the properties we rent. We love the location and the roominess of the house. The house is located in a quiet gated community with great neighbors. The open floor plan allowed us to host a brunch serving the entire family with room to spare. The family had a great week kayaking and catching fish (red drum, flounder and sea trout). The kids loved catching crabs, shrimp and minnows using the provided casting net and crabpots. We enjoyed truly amazing sunrises and sunsets.

With that being said we would like to share a few concerns moving forward. The front door lock is tricky and an unnecessary frustration. The decking leading to the dock is dated with loose boards and handrails. And finally, housekeeping could have done a better job cleaning, especially the bathrooms.

We look forward to renting this property again in two years as we enjoy all it has to offer.

The view of the sound was amazing, we really enjoyed the house.

The house was nice, we really could have used one more room with a queen or a king but we had a great time. We we're visiting with my sister and her family and our dad, it was great being together.

Home away from home.

Our trip to this home was well enjoyed. The home is comfortable and relaxed. The kitchen was well stocked with pans and even some spices and such. It felt like a well loved house the was used by the owners and not just used as a rental property. Lots of beds gave us plenty of room to have a girls weekend with 3 generations. It was great to have toys and a highchair for the little kids so they were never bored. It wasn't far from the beach at all so some days we walked, sometimes we road bikes, sometime we drove down and dropped everyone and all the gear off and then road a bike down. There is no car parking down at the beach but there is golf cart parking. The sound was beautiful at sunset and we got to see a metor shower late one night. I think I should have researched more about the sound as I thought there would be some areas near or around the dock to swim but there really were no sandbars or sand. It was thick muck filled with oasters shells and barnicals. At hightide this was not a problem but at lowtide it was too thick to get the kayaks out. We brought a kayak and rented another, but since the house dock had no steps down we had to carry the kayaks to the community dock right next door. It was close but since the kayaks were heavy it was hard to carry them back and forth everytime someone wanted to go out. When we did go out it was fun to kayak and explore the marsh. If you don't plan to kayak or swim than this wouldn't be a big deal as the sound was very pretty. We did love using the crab nets that were at the dock. We loved catching crabs and cooking them up for dinner. The younger kids enjoyed checking the traps to see if we caught any new crabs. When we arrived we did have to sweep out and knock down lots of spider webs around the outside and after a few of us got stung by hornets we found the hornets nest. I emailed the owner and he responded right away and got an exterminator out there right away to get rid of the hornets nests. The gentleman found several more and got rid of them. I greatly appreciated the quick response but I would recommend a service come more regularly (we saw more nests later in the week.) All and all we had a wonderful time.

Vacation at Emerald Isle

Very nice home. Location is the best part of this home. Wonderful view of sunsets and sun rises. Lots of Windows for great view. Basic cable for entertainment. Dated home with some upgrades in the kitchen. Door and key was an issue. Wonderful next door neighbors. Very friendly and knowledgable of the island and waters for boating. Very secure feeling neighborhood. Friendly neighbors throughout the neighborhood. This area is family oriented area. Will visit the sound again.

Perfect for what we needed

This location is 5 min by boat from the grandparents who live by Hammocks Beach...so it really worked for us. Anyone coming in from out of town will love the location. 10 min from down town Swansboro and 5 min from everything in Emerald Isle.

The quality of the neighborhood and proximity to the beach, sound, and grocery stores makes this the ideal spot for a mid to large family trying to enjoy the Crystal Coast.

The house, kitchen, 50 yard dock, were exactly what we needed.

Very Pleasant Stay

Emerald Isle's sound is where we vacation every year. We always try different homes along the sound. This home is in a wonderful neighborhood, close to shopping and restaurants. It has a great dock for fishing and crabbing. We also take our kayaks to paddle around the marsh - a great place for birdwatching.

This home has large windows to enjoy the view. Though it's a bit dated, it appears to have updated flooring, appliances and a large flat screen TV. Beds are comfortable with pretty linens. As with most homes we've rented on the island, the lowest level is just a bit musty, so we didn't use the pool table, nor did we need the extra beds on that level. The rest of the house is clean and very comfortable. Laundry is adjacent to the kitchen - very convenient. Association pool and tennis are not available for renters, but we always find plenty of fun on the island. Trying to open the sticky front door lock was our only negative. So all in all, this is a great spot.

Favorite restaurants are Chowdaheads in EI, Morgan's Tavern in New Bern, and Clayton's in Beaufort. Try kite flying at 'The Point,' visits to Fort Macon, Beaufort's old cemetery and Maritime Museum, New Bern's Tryon Palace and downtown, and Cape Lookout. Swansboro is another cute little town just a quick drive across the bridge.

For the very adventurous, check out The Great Lake just up Hwy 58 in the Croatan National Forest. A one lane gravel road takes you 5 miles to a very secluded, unusual lake. There's a small dock to launch a canoe or kayak. Small alligators may keep you company. Do some research before going and prepare to feel like you're in the Cretaceous period!
