About cindy freedman

Our family of 5 relocated with our 4 big dogs in 2010. Due to our careers we had to move back to the east coast and could not let our beautiful retreat like home be sold. We turned it into a rental so that we could return as often as possible. We enjoy horseback riding at hickory nut gap farm, hot yoga in east asheville, drumming with billy at skinny beats and all the eclectic things Asheville offers.

cindy freedman purchased this house in 2008

Why cindy freedman chose Asheville

Close to everything! Whimsical, open concept and great outdoor entertaining or quiet reading. GIANT DECK, OUTDOOR FIRE PIT

What makes this house unique

This home offers the best of both worlds - being far enough out that you feel peaceful and secluded but at the same time you are only minutes from shopping and tons of the attractions that make Asheville one of the most popular destinations in the South East.

Great value in a serene mountain location.

  • 4 of 5

The house was very spacious with its 4 bedrooms and 3 2/ baths. Everyone had ample space. The kitchen is well stocked. The deck is great (though some of the furniture needs to be replaced). The wind chime is spectacular. The yard is a bit uneven and the horseshoes and corn hole games were not in the best shape. The house was not the cleanest, but there were ample cleaning items. The towels are average as are the linens. The washer was great, but the dryer was very very slow to dry things- even on high temp. If you are a runner, and love to role out of bed for a morning jog, this is not the house for you. There is no shoulder on this extremely winding road. Walking down the driveway and then back up will get your heart pumping big time, however. Cindy was very responsive to purchasing a new grill to replace the one that didn’t work well. The location in the mountains is very quiet and serene. The drive to almost anywhere is 15 minutes. The house is a great value for what she charges.

The house was perfect for our needs, large, but with a warm feel.

  • 5 of 5

The house we rented was perfect for our needs. Our daughter was married at Craggy Gardens, so we had our immediate family staying with us. The deck was great for family dinners, and it helped that it was eating area had a roof (lots) of evening rain.

Great house, terribly managed. Not recommended.

  • 1 of 5

We stayed at the house over a Memorial Day weekend with friends. The house is large, nice and well located.

However, when we arrived, the cleaning service had not been there. The house was filthy. There were no clean sheets on any of the beds, dirty dishes, and floors were dirty. Even some clothes were left over from the prior visitor. We had to spend the whole first night cleaning and doing laundry just to get the beds ready to sleep in. In addition, the upstairs air conditioning unit was not functioning.

We called and reported all of this to Cindy, the owner. She did seem empathetic, but was unable to actually help with any of it. The cleaning service wasn't available until the day we were leaving- so we never had a clean house. She didn't really even comment on the air conditioning, we made due because the temperature at night was reasonable.

The back door of the house has a door that won't lock.

Upon hearing about the troubles, the owner offered to reimburse us for a portion of the stay. However, that's been an incredibly difficult process, and I have little faith that she will actually follow through with her promises at this point. It's been 2 weeks since we left......and she's yet to make good on that.

It's hard to tell what's going on.......but we found the owner very difficult to communicate with, and this vacation created more work than relaxation.

Great private location with a caveat

  • 4 of 5

House was amazing and had everything our family needed. The only negative thing was communication with the rental company. Prior to check-in I was given an access code for entrance to the house. When we got to the house there was no where to enter an access code except for a non-functional garage door keypad. I tried calling the number for the rental management provided but the phone went straight to voicemail. I sent an email with no response. Thankfully the side entrance door was unlocked but we spent our stay there without a key. I felt comfortable in the seculded location without a lock and did not pursue contacting the rental company further then the first day and next morning. I just think it's unprofessional to be unreachable at the time guests are supposed to be checking in.... And then to never get back in touch with me over the course of our stay. What if that side door entrance wasn't open and how long would we be waiting to get into our place? Besides the key issue we had a great stay.

Owner's Response: I am so sorry for your trouble. The lock box and code are in the office at the top of the driveway. The office is unlocked and there is a key box on the desk. To fix this problem we will be putting a key pad on the front door for code entrance in the near future. For guests reading this text is the best and fastest way to get ahold of the owner as this is privately owned and operated.

Asheville Golf Trip

  • 3 of 5

A group of 8 of us stayed in this house while golfing in the Asheville area. We had some difficulties during the check-in and check-out processes, but overall the property was in really good condition, had plenty of space and open areas, and accommodated our needs well.

Amazing place to stay while in Asheville!

  • 5 of 5

The house was just lovely... furnishings, amenities, decor. My 4 childhood girlfriends and I thoroughly enjoyed every minute we spent cooking, relaxing, and enjoying the peace and serenity of this lovely home. Lots of space for all of us to relax and unwind in very comfortable and very nicely appointed accommodations. Convenient to Biltmore and downtown Asheville for our daily journeys as well. I highly recommend this house for your Asheville stay!
