The perfect cabin for a quiet getaway! Gaze at the stars under a clear Big Sky night! Enjoy wildlife right outside your front door and wake up in the morning to a peaceful mountain view. This cabin is located on our 32 acre property. It backs to logging land with a path that leads to it just off the cabin. You have access to miles of trails for moutain biking, hiking, cross country skiing and snowshoeing.

While the cabin is located on our property, rest assured that you will have complete privacy to enjoy the beauty that surrounds us. There is a queen size bed on the main floor, a queen bed in the loft which is accessed by a ladder and a full size futon on the main floor.

We are located within 40 minutes of Glacier National Park, 45 min from Whitefish, Big Mountain, Bigfork, the Jewel Basin or Flathead Lake and we have countless trails within walking distance or a short drive. The options are endless for what you can do from this location. This is also a perfect base for hunting big game in Montana ( you must obtain your own license). There is fishing in Smith Lake which is 10 min away, or you can drive to Flathead Lake and take a day trip out on one of the many charter boats. White water rafting is another activity that is fantastic on the Flathead River!

About Doug or Mimi O'Neill

We are Mimi and Doug O'Neill recent residents to Montana from Maine. Mimi is originally from Charleston, SC and Doug is from Evanston, Illinois. We met in Charleston 19 years ago and have been married for 9 years and both have children from previous marriages. Our immediate family consists of 3 Golden Retrievers and one Ragamuffin cat. Our 2 oldest Goldens Elle and Bean are brother and sister and they are 9 1/2 years old along with our newest addition Bella who is 26 months old. Our kitty is 7 years old named Heidi. Prior to moving here we visited Montana many times and chose the Flathead Valley as our home. We welcome you to visit our home and stay in our cabin and enjoy the serenity and beauty of Montana. Feel free to hike and enjoy our 32 acres and the surrounding forest that encompases our property.

Why Doug or Mimi O'Neill chose Glacier Country

As you enjoy your morning coffee on the cabin deck or a cold beverage at night rest assured the deer will be abundant along with the solitude that we have to offer. There will be no highway noise and no lights to hinder your view of the sky at night (Big Sky Montana) just the sounds of wildlife near you.

What makes this cabin unique

We are 15 to 20 minutes to Kalispell and 40 minutes to Glacier National Park. Flathead Lake and Big Fork are about 25 minutes away with other lakes nearby to enjoy-either fishing, boating or swimming.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Perfectly peaceful mountain retreat!

  • 5 of 5

A friend and I planned day visits to Glacier National Park and rented Doug and Mimi's cabin for 5 nights in September 2016. The cabin was exactly what "us city folk" needed and desired. We were very active during the day hiking and looked forward to arriving home each evening to our mountain retreat. Many nights we sat on the front porch with a cocktail, stargazing and listening to complete silence. The only thing that could be heard was an occasional rustle of leaves. It was such a peaceful experience. We also had a family of deer that greeted us each morning. The cabin itself is very clean with all the modern conveniences you'll need. Two queen beds, one in the bedroom downstairs and one in the loft where I slept. There is a sturdy ladder that leads to the loft which was not a problem navigating. The highlight of our stay were the delightful owners, Doug and Mimi (along with Mimi's home cooking!). If you stay, you must order her breakfasts. They come delivered each morning by the engaging Doug, and are prepared with such detail and care. We had huge omelets, egg casserole, yogurt with fresh fruit and warm breads topped with homemade butter and jams (Mimi is not only a talented artist but one heck of a cook). She also baked a delicious cake for my traveling buddy's birthday which fell during our stay. The duo could not be any more personable and accommodating, truly love having guests, and it shows in every detail! I highly recommend staying at Little Bear Cabin if you desire to be free from city irritations and noise and among the sounds of nature. The location of the cabin is truly perfect peace, we will be back! p.s. we rented a car and drove to Glacier National Park. It takes roughly 50 minutes from the cabin to the West entrance of the park.

Relaxing Vacation in Big Sky Country

  • 5 of 5

My boyfriend and I stayed here for 8 nights in early August and could not have asked for a better Montana experience. Mimi and Doug were incredibly welcoming and Mimi's cooking was delicious. Close to Glacier and many small mountain towns to explore. Thanks to our peaceful and adventure filled vacation at Mimi and Doug's cozy mountain cabin, we're looking forward to our next visit to Montana.

Beautiful place and awesome location!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed here for 3 nights and the location is perfect if you want to be close to Glacier and all the little towns close by...plus we loved that we were close to Flathead lake for swimming. The cabin is adorable and the property is beautiful! We also loved Mimi's cooking! Had a wonderful time!

Great Stay-----Great location

  • 5 of 5

Our only regret was we only stayed 2 nights! When we go back it will be for a week! For sure have Mimi cook --what a treat! Great cabin to stay in, the front porch was great --well all of it was. This was the highlight of our trip. Easy drive to Glacier, flathead lake, and Whitefish. don't think twice--STAY!

Great location, cute cabin

  • 5 of 5

Easy drive to Glacier, Whitefish, Flathead Lake etc.. for sight seeing and great shopping. Heading west was a pretty drive past McGregor Lake to Kootenai Falls and the swinging bridge. and the dam tour at Libby. Lots to do in the area.

The cabin was clean, comfortable, and decorated very cute. Weather was warm the week I was there, but once the sun started going down, sitting on the porch with a drink and watching the deer outside was a great, quiet way to end the evening.

Doug and Mimi were very nice and had good info where to eat, shop, hike and kayak in the area.

You won't go wrong staying here.
