Walking Pines is less than a mile to the lake and the Big Bear Village with it's shops, restaurants, cinemas, bowling alley, and fun zone. Also close to the Alpine slide, mini golf, water slides, and slick track. Winter season offers the Big Bear Snow Play Hill. These activities are tourist favorites all throughout the four seasons of the year.

The home is welcoming and warm with pine paneling throughout. The great room with its vaulted ceiling is open and spacious and offers a pool table, multiple sofas for comfort, a flat screen TV & DVD. An awesome wood burning fireplace is situated perfectly to command attention anytime of the year. Sit around, play a game of pool all the while being warmed by the fire that is so special in a mountain cabin. The windows in the main living area give the cabin an open feeling, the home sits on a corner which allows guests to view from many angles of the home, giving it a more open feeling.

The kitchen is to one side of the room and has lots of spacious cabinets as well as a long counter top. This makes working in the kitchen a joy, lots of room to spread things out. Use the extra long counter as a buffet for holiday entertaining. The dining table is a nice size for 6 and doubles as a great place to play board games or cards, or just sit back, relax, and enjoy a fresh cup of coffee in the morning while reading the paper.

The two bedrooms, downstairs, offer different options for sleeping. One bedroom has a King as well as a TV, the other offers a Queen and a Twin over Twin Bunk Bed.

Moving up to the loft is an adventure as the stairway leading up to it is a spiral staircase, makes you feel like it's the stairway to heaven, and for kids, it is! The loft is another great source of entertainment. The foosball game table is in the loft as it some comfy chairs situated opposite another TV with VCR and DVD. Kids will be entertained for hours playing their gaming system on the TV or playing foosball, watching their favorite movie on the VCR or DVD. There's a bathroom up in the loft as well so they won't need to come down until dinner!

The back yard has a nice cement patio where you can relax on the furniture, BBQ on the grill or just sit outdoors and listen to nature sounds you don't hear down the hill. The yard is private as it is completely fenced. This makes it a great place for families with young children as well as their pets.

The washer and dryer offered is brand new and is nice to have for extended stays or just to dry children's clothes in the winter when they come in for lunch after a morning or afternoon of snow play.

Walking Pines has so many wonderful options for families or friends to enjoy, the only thing to consider is which dates are best for your stay!

About Gold Rush Staff

'We are a family of four with two dogs. We were visiting Big Bear to enjoy some snow play with our young children when it struck us how much we'd like to have a place that we could come to year round and where we'd know our family would always be comfortable. The best solution for us was to get a vacation rental cabin that we could share with others. This made our dream of having a convenient and cozy cabin for fun and relaxing with our family, friends, and pooches affordable. We'd love to share more of our experiences at and around the cabin with you.

Why Gold Rush Staff chose Big Bear

The first is simple, as they say...LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION. Walking Pines is very well located to be central to lots of fun activities. With a walk out the front door, you are looking at the National Forest. With a walk across the street, you can head out on a hike or a mountain bike ride on one of several trails that begin or end at the Aspen Glen Picnic Area. Many mountain bikers end their rides here after taking the lifts up the mountain at Snow Summit ski resort. At the Aspen Glen Picnic Area, you will also find a hill perfect for some free snow play - sledding, tubing, or the like. While these are the amenities right in Walking Pines' front yard, there are other fun and scenic activities a short drive or walk away. Less than 1/2 mile away is Alpine Slide at Magic Mountain where you can enjoy a bobsled type ride year round, water slide in the warmer months, and snow play during snow season. Less than 3/4 mile down the hill you will reach Big Bear Lake where you can enjoy a scenic walk or many different water activities. And just 3/4 mile down the Boulevard, you will reach the Village where you can find lots of shops and restaurants. Lastly, just two miles away, you will find the closest ski resort. All of these activities nearby really make this a great vacation spot year round!

What makes this house unique

The next reason we chose Walking Pines to be our vacation home is its great ENTERTAINING AND GATHERING SPACE. The large and open great room is really perfect for the whole family or a group of friends to hang out together. Folks can eat, sit and talk or read, play a game of pool, and enjoy a movie all together in one space. There are several areas to sit, and the space can be used in whatever way works best for your party. And anytime it is desirable to break away or have a separate space for the kids to enjoy, there is also the game area loft. This semi-private space has a Foosball table for enjoyment of all and a cozy TV area for movie watching or game playing. The layout of the cabin offers the best of both worlds for gathering and relaxing.

The back yard is fenced which makes it a wonderful play area for young children as well as a secure area for pets.

We've added a brand new hot tub for extra relaxation and enjoyment.

Beyond these two main aspects of location and gathering space that Walking Pines offers, another aspect that is important to our family is having a secure place for our dogs and young children to enjoy. The deck, that wraps around two sides of the cabin, is enclosed with railing and each entrance has a gate to deter pets and toddlers from wandering. This allows us to spend time enjoying the scenery worry-free. The back yard, which still has nice views of the pine trees and aspens surrounding the property, is also fenced in for added privacy and security.

These added benefits really make this a peaceful and enjoyable vacation home for our family. We hope you and your friends and family will enjoy it too!
