What makes Windswept really special is its location - being part of the exclusive Sugar Hill resort, in the parish of St James on the west coast of Barbados. This is one of the premier resorts in Barbados, beautifully maintained with lush tropical landscaping.
There is 24 hour security and friendly, helpful staff at the desk of the club house. Sugar Hill provides a beautiful, peaceful and safe environment.
Also, we are really close to the West Coast with its fantastic beaches, great restaurants, fish markets and fish fries and lots of activities. And Holetown is a short drive away with a good range of restaurants and tax free shopping.
Whilst taxis and buses are plentiful along the coast road we would recommend hiring a car because there's so much to explore on the island - rugged east coast where you can take a sea bath and watch the surfers around Bathsheba, white sand beaches of the west coast with fabulous beach-side dining alongside local rum shops, catamaran cruises, the pink beaches down at the Crane, historic Bridgetown with George Washington House, Scotland district in the north with a drive past Morgan Lewis mill which can still grind sugar cane.
There are various riding stables, zip lining, international polo tournaments and polo lessons a short drive away at Apes Hill, international cricket at the Kensington Oval (the crowds are just as entertaining as the matches!), horse racing at the Garrison - the list goes on..
Also, there's a pretty good local bus service along the main coastal routes and it's inexpensive at around US$1 per ride - you could easily get to Bridgetown this way and taking a trip down to the fish fry at Oistins on a Friday night would be even more of an adventure by bus! You can also take a safari tour and explore the island in a jeep if that appeals.
