About Steve Moseley or Whitney Ross
We're a family with two children (a 16 year old boy and a 12 year old girl) that grew up feasting on blackberries that flourish on the property and lobsters collected from clean water off our beach. We also enjoy boating, swimming, and fishing in the Penobscot Bay. Hiking, exploring, and enjoying other local resources rounds out our time in Maine. And although our family has been in Maine for 6 generations we're not yet able to live here full time.
Steve Moseley or Whitney Ross purchased this House in 2005

Delightful views, spacious comfortable surroundings!
We loved staying in Steve and Whitney's home, everything about it - inside and out. The unseasonably warm weather gave us opportunities to walk the beach and sit on the patio enjoying the quiet peacefulness of the large lawn and water views. There was a lot of wildlife to be seen - a skunk, a bald eagle and a coyote all visited and the birds sang every morning. Inside was comfortable and so nicely appointed with plenty of places to gather as a group or go off for individual quiet time. The library was perfect for this as was the living room - very inviting for curling up with a book or computer. The tv room was a little small for a group of 6 adults to view all at once and this was the only tv in the house but this was more a benefit than a drawback in my opinion. We didn't feel enticed to overindulge in screen time! This is a great room for kids to hang out in while adults escape for quiet time in the living room or library!
The kitchen was well equipped so that we could cook - we even found a pot for lobster. It really felt like we were sharing someone's home, not a sterile rental where everything is locked up or stocked with only bare essentials.
I was fortunate to stay in the king bedroom and got some great sleep there. The bed was one of the most comfortable ever and appointed with high quality bed linens - very luxurious and another much appreciated fine point of this rental.
We didn't get to take advantage of the fire pit because our agenda was so active but that is another great feature of this house along with the indoor fireplace. This home would be equally welcoming in any season.
There's a great notebook full of information, some of which you get when you confirm your reservation, and we appreciated that. We ate two meals from the Owls Head General Store at the owners' suggestion and especially enjoyed the "7 napkin burger" - Bobby Flay's "best burger in Maine" choice. The location of the house is close to so many things within a few minutes (including Breakwater winery) to two hours - from here we took a day trip to Acadia (2 hours) and stopped in on charming towns up and down the coast - there is much to see and this home is a great home base for exploring!
Thanks to Steve and Whitney and Rosie (who we never saw but who had the home opened for us when we arrived), for making this such a pleasant and easy arrangement and stay!
A beautiful and inviting home in an idyllic setting for enjoying all there is to enjoy in Maine!
We had a wonderful stay!
Beautiful way to spend the 4th of July
The grounds were beautiful and the house lived up to the pictures. Our communcication with the owner was great. I would definitely recommend a stay here.
Property was great and pretty much what we pictured from the website information.
I lost track of what day it was at Owl's head and forgot to put the trash out on the correct day. Our contact person, Rosie was delightful. We enjoyed memorable meals at Francine, Primo, Fresh, McCloon's. We are planning a return trip next year.
A nicely rennovated older home with beautiful Maine harbor views!
Excellent property with stunning water views. Nicely updated with modern amenities--extremely clean and well maintained. Awesome location with easy access to restaurants, shopping, and other points of interest (lighthouses, state parks, and hiking trails). The owner was very accessible via email and provided information as needed. Highly recommend! Hope to return soon!
We enjoyed an extremely relaxing stay in this wonderful house with our two sets of parents, 6 adults in total. The listing description is accurate, however it’s the small personal touches not mentioned that really escalate this rental to an exceptional standard; table linens and napkins, fire-lighting equipment, spare waterproofs for those rainy days, the list could go on! As we were six adults it was important for us to have enough space to spread out and enjoy different activities in the evenings; and 4 well appointed bathrooms was also a massive plus – no queues! Kayaking in the bay was also a highlight for us – so convenient not to have to hire kayaks.
The property was spotlessly clean and well equipped, and the caretaker (Rosie) stopped by to make sure that we had everything that we needed. Good selection of cookware and bakeware for those who like to make their meals at home. The owner (Steve) was very easy to deal with, responsive and reasonable, and even went as far as to purchase a tea kettle for my tea-obsessed Mum – thank you!
We ate at Primo one evening – only a mile from the house, booking is a must. We enjoyed the walk to Owlshead from the house, and also expended some energy climbing to the magnificent viewpoint in Camden Hills State Park – it’s worth the climb, the view was spectacular. Camden and Rockland are very pretty little towns with plenty to engage even the most dedicated shopper.
I would not hesitate to recommend this property to friends and relatives and hope to return in the future, thank you for making our stay so memorable.
Thanks very much for the kind words. I hope you'll return!

MID-COAST, MAINE: The scenic bays, craggy peninsulas and sparkling offshore islands form a stunning backdrop to Mid-Coast Maine’s picture-perfect fishing villages, seaside resorts and bustling harbor towns. Delve deeply into Maine’s maritime past, watch whales and puffins, explore by bike or sea kayak and dine on world-class seafood. In the Midcoast region, arts and culture flourish amidst the legacy of the sea. ROCKLAND (1 mile from house): Rockland’s lively arts and culture scene includes the world-class collections at the Farnsworth Art Museum and the Wyeth Center. Stop by the Puffin Project Visitor Center and Maine Lighthouse Museum. Ferry out to Vinalhaven, North Haven or Matinicus. Discover award-winning restaurants. Browse bookstores in Rockland or fill up on lobster rolls at the annual Maine Lobster Festival. Bike the St. George peninsula or explore the harbors by kayak and the islands by boat. Rockland was named by Redbull in 2018: "One of the Six Great Adventure Towns You've Never Heard Of" https://www.redbull.com/us-en/best-unknown-adventure-towns-america CAMDEN (10 miles): Camden is a classic harbor town, a short drive north of Owls Head, characterized by quaint inns and B&Bs and framed by the magnificent Camden Hills. Hike or drive up Mt. Battie and then relax in a harbor-side pub overlooking windjammers and fishing boats. Make a side trip to the charming arts community of Rockport. OWLS HEAD: The Village of Owls Head has a compelling charm that should be described in part by what's NOT there (no traffic lights, no traffic, no crowds) and in part by what IS there (Maine's best cheeseburgers at the Owls Head General Store, 2 wineries, 3 lighthouses, Owls Head Light State Park, Birch Point Beach State Park, etc.) and miles of beaches and wooded trails to explore. THIS HOUSE: This unique, rolling, grassy 7 acre property sits next to a nature preserve overlooking Rockland harbor and has productive apple trees, rasberries, blueberries, and blackberries in season. There is plenty to do nearby but visitors often get so comfortable they lose interest in exploring beyond the edges of this family property. We hope that happens to you.
