The setting of our quaint little cabin was fully equipped and quite cozy for five of us. The loons greeted us as we arrived and as we departed from our beautiful lake view! The neighbors were friendly and very engaging and our host responded immediately to my questions and requests.
The cabin was very clean and cozy! Looked to be newly renovated . The views of the lake and proximity to the water to be able to hear the loons was so peaceful. Went hiking in the beautiful Grass River Nature area. Alden is a quaint village with some nice tourist shopping. The well stocked village market was a lifesaver. Cabin neighbors were very friendly!
My Fiance and I stayed here and had a fantastic time. It was extremely clean, cozy, and we really enjoyed exploring the near by towns. Definitely would recommend staying here and will stay again in the future!
We stayed in the Cedar cabin over a decade ago (different owners) and we were thrilled to experience the same peaceful setting of Thayer Lake with modern upgrades. We enjoyed kayaking and canoeing, swimming, bonfires, and hiking nearby. Saw a family a loons. Not many fish this trip but still fun. Very family friendly. We appreciated the puzzles, games, and kids books! Bring camp chairs for the front room in Oak Cabin. It’s great for gear storage. Enjoyed our stay!

It was just ok. Definitely not worth the money we spent for 2 nights!!
The Oak Cottage was the cutest little getaway for my husband and I’s anniversary. It was so clean, the hosts were kind and easy to get ahold of, and the lake view was the cherry on top! Will definitely be back.
Great little cabin on Thayer lake. Everything was recently updated so it was new and clean. We enjoyed our stay and taking the kayaks out on the water.
We absolutely love this little Cottage. Our favorite part was the enclosed porch. Great for drinking your coffee in the morning and watching the sunrise.
The cottage faced Thayer Lake. Public small access to Torch Lake in a couple areas that were close to the cottage. The cottage is close to the neighbor cottages. It is a perfect location for adults.
The cottage was adorable and my boys loved being able to walk right out and fish on the dock. Rachel was quick to reply with any questions I had and they provided a binder full of suggestions on things to do while you are there.
Loved this cabin. Very clean and perfect for our stay. We utilized both the rowboat and fire pit. Kitchen stocked with everything we needed to cook our meals with. Really enjoyed the view from the enclosed porch which felt like an extension of the inside. Very quiet and relaxing. We would definitely stay here again.
Beautiful and clean but a little smaller than anticipated. Had only 3 chairs at the table for a house for 4. But on the lake, cozy, cute and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay!
We had a great time! The cottage was in a lovely quiet and secluded area and we were really able to decompress sitting on the porch and hearing the loons. I would consider staying here again and enjoying Thayer lake more casually. Our only complaint would have been that the cottage did not Dehumidify very well. A damp towel took a couple days to dry out even with fans running because the cool AC air was still very humid.
Oak cottage is cozy and updated but there are some structural issues with the roof/ceiling that concerned us. The bathtub had a large crack in the bottom. There should be grab bars to prevent falling. We did not sleep in the main bedroom because there is no way to use a CPAP machine because the dresser is at the foot of the bed. For most people this would not be an issue. Everything else was great.
This was one of our most favorite VRBO‘s! The owners had swept the decor to reflect the fall season, and we loved it very much. It inspired us to include grilled apples and cinnamon with all of our home cooked meals. There were even fall flavored coffees available for the Keurig! The trip was just the two of us celebrating our anniversary - we brought a boat on trailer with road bikes. There was more than enough parking for our truck and trailer. We used the rowboat one evening and it was lovely. From this location, we rode biked a big circle trail around torch lake, another day around Lake. Charlevoix and another ride up to Petoskey and back. It was fantastic! The location was perfect. It was super quiet and so peaceful in the morning to wake up and see the water. The size was just right for the two of us, and we used the extra bedroom as our sort of walk-in closet and gear storage.I would recommend this cabin/cottage to everyone! Thank you
