Location, Location, Location: I can't emphasize enough that Sunset Fisherman's location is the best in all of Playa del Carmen. We are located in an exclusive gated community just South of the town so it's quiet with NO VENDORS, NO LOUD CLUBS AND NO ROCKS ON A STUNNING BEACH and LOW DENSITY number of people as this quiet neighborhood is just a 10 minute walk (7/10th mile walk to town) to the action of 5th Ave and the Ferry dock.

This is actually a 2 BR/2.5 BTH (see listing 306688 for more reviews) unit that we can lock-off the smaller bedroom/bath for ONE COUPLE ONLY. This will provide you 1000 sq feet with amazing views from the living room, balcony, master suite, kitchen and dining! This Million-dollar view penthouse is a one-of-a-kind a kind, 2-level 1 Bedroom penthouse on the beach, not far-far away like some resorts. It literally takes you less than a minute after stepping out of the condo to have your toes in the sand!

The private balcony, living room, dining room, kitchen and master suite all have this wonderful pool and beachfront view. The King bed is new as of Sept 2016 and is a Sealy PillowTop so if you care about your night's sleep you will love it.

What makes Sunset Fisherman's Village a stand-out amongst the other condos and resorts? I would have to say it's because it's SMALL (there are just 55 units) and yet it's full service. There is no other condo complex in Playa del Carmen that offers as much as Sunset Fisherman's does right on site.

1) 24 hour security in gated community and on the resort grounds with 2-3 times the size of beachfront as other resorts and it's BOUTIQUE, just 50 units total!!!
2) Swim up pool bar with waiters serving you around the pool (you can also BYO but no glass containers)

9) On-site parking free for guests (no rental car? No problem as "In Drive" app is like Mexico's Uber with rates into town around 80-100 pesos.
10) Optional ALL INCLUSIVE plan which includes 3 meals a day, snacks and unlimited drinks including alcohol for $90/pp per day. Otherwise the a la carte prices are similar to Chili's in the USA.
11) Our gated community does not allow "vendors" on the beach at all, so you can relax knowing you won't be hassled to buy blankets, massages, jewelry, jet skiing, etc like you will get on the beaches "in town".

I know you have the option to choose an all-inclusive resort, but don't and here is why. The AI resorts are over-crowded with over 300 rooms and it will take you 5-10 minutes to walk to the beach from your room. You end up eating at the 2-3 restaurants and having the same lousy buffet food day after day and you'll be lucky to have a peek-a-boo view of the ocean after leaning way over on your balcony! My penthouse is the actual unbelievable view you see in all the photos! Don't feel like standing in line for your meals? You can choose to eat at the restaurant on-site, make delicious meals in our beautiful kitchen or walk 10 minutes to 5th Avenue and have hundreds of restaurants to choose from. You might opt for another condo complex, but none offer you great amenities like Fisherman's Village. If the condo complex says it's 'in town' beware, that means you'll be next to loud discos and clubs pumping out techno music until 2-3 am. Our resort is very quiet as of about 10 pm each night, just in case sleep and rest and relaxation is important to you. If crazy party-action all night is your scene, then staying at a condo or resort 'in town' is the way to go for you!

GREAT vacation spot - the pictures don't do this place justice!!

The location was within walking distance to town, and we could NOT have asked for a better view of the ocean, as well as access to the beautiful beach. The owner, Pamela, was VERY nice and accommodating. The property staff was polite, helpful, and SO FRIENDLY!! We will definitely be back.

Great Stay in Playa

We spent nine nights at Fisherman’s Village in January and thoroughly enjoy our stay. The condo was spacious and contained all necessary kitchen supplies. The TV in the guest room did not function and the Internet, as mentioned in other reviews, was spotty. The internet by the pool was much better. Breakfast at the resort was fabulous, lunch and dinner not so much. We usually walked into town for dinner and lunch. The walk along the beach to the Cozumel Ferry and Fifth Avenue took us 10-15 minutes. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The beach was great with very little seaweed. We recommend staying at Fisherman’s Resort while in Playa Del Carmen.

Million dollar view was spot on!

Came with my husband for my 40th bday and will stay again! The location was perfect, just away from the hustle and bustle of downtown Playa but not too far. Short walk or quick bike ride to all the action. The beach was amazing and steps away from the condo. Bed was comfortable and loved sleeping with the window open listening to the waves crash at night. Pamela provided us with a guide and tips for our stay which was VERY helpful. We went to eat at a few of her recommended places as was not disappointed. Her private airport transportation was easy and very professional. For first time visiting it made us feel very comfortable. Everything was above expectation, the Fisherman's staff was very friendly and the accommodations very nice. Only thing that would have made the trip better would have been a washer/dryer. Can't wait to come again!!

Our Family's Great Vacation

I just want to share with all that have or will be vacationing in one of the Units we rented from Pamela. First the generosity and friendly approach right from the beginning to rent to our arrival and to our departure was overwhelming. They offered rides to and from the airport with a very resemble rate which takes a lot off your mind to start and finish a holiday. The unit was clean, spacious and very accommodating. Cleaning staff available at your own request. The restaurants & food very good with even better service. Pool nice and the furniture as usual at all resorts can be found if you are an early riser. Everyone walking the beach could do nothing but stare and then ask what the resorts name was and who to contact to book. I just want to thank Pamela for this great vacation and really look forward to re-booking.

Great Location

An incredible location in Playa. Nestled in a quiet neighborhood with a highly attentive staff, the beachfront condo is only a 10-15 minute walk to all the night life and restaurants of Playa del Carmen. The condo could use a little more TLC and the wifi speed can be frustrating at times, but I would highly recommend this property.

A Great Place!

Just got back from Playa after a week's stay. This condo is very well-located, easy walking distance to Fifth Avenue, restaurants, shopping. Super beach. The condo itself is just as advertised, and the owner's information about the facility and the area was both accurate and helpful. The owner was very accommodating. Condo was clean, well-equipped, reasonably appointed, and secure. Playa Del Carmen is a safe city, and we roamed about on foot and never felt uneasy. Very quiet resort, and the staff were also very helpful. We ate out mostly, or cooked in-house. Resort food was, well, resort food. They might boost the wifi signal a bit too :). All in, a great vacation.

Spectacular setting and walking distance to everything Playa has to offer

I have been to this part of the world numerous times and would not only recommend the warm waters, beaches and people of the area but the unit we rented was perfect for the 2 of us. "Hanging" out over the water and enjoying the sound and sights of the crystal blue Caribbean are peaceful and relaxing. I would rent this unit again, any time of the year.

Beautiful property, wonderful owner!

This was our first time to Playa del Carmen and our first experience with VRBO. Pamela provided so much detail and guidance throughout the booking that I just knew it was going to be a great experience! Her information included help with a car service from the airport to the property (they were wonderful and had cold beverages for us in the van!). The Fisherman's Village staff greeted us like family. We rented the 2 bdrm/2bath unit and it was beautiful; 2 balconies facing the ocean! The balcony off the dining/living area has a table with chairs where we enjoyed our morning coffee and evening wine. The balcony off the master bedroom had two cushioned lounge chairs, great for reading and taking a nap. The kitchen was convenient for making breakfast before we headed out each day and for keeping some snacks and beverages on hand. The unit includes a stackable washer/dryer, which we used to dry our clothes after being caught in the rain one day. Because the condo is part of the Fisherman's Village resort, we had at our disposal all the amenities of such; concierge to help us book some expeditions, pool (including swim up bar), restaurant, workout facilities, and spa area. We walked the length of the beach from Fisherman's to town and from Fisherman's to up the beach where the pricey hotels are...and HANDS DOWN the Fisherman's Village beach is THE BEST! (Also, no vendors bugging you to buy things.) The staff would come out and check to see if you needed a beverage and the place was so inviting that everyone we met was happy and engaging. Through the concierge we booked a day expedition to Coba to see the biggest ruins and the host of our trip was a delight! We had fun the entire trip and it also included zip lining and swimming in a cenote (sink hole/cave with fresh water). We also booked an ATV experience where we each drove our own 4 wheeler through the jungle area and saw another cenote, which was beautiful. There are a lot of great restaurants in town- Ula Gula, Carboncitos and Chez Celine were faves We brought US currency and most vendors/shops take that but we quickly figured out to exchange them to pesos (then kept a cheat sheet calculator on our phone for conversion) and found we got better deals. One thing is to be sure you get peso in smaller denominations (20, 50, 100) because when we gave the taxi drivers 200 pesos for a 120 peso trip the response every time but one was "no change". Thank you Pamela! WONDERFUL!

Fantastic Getaway Location!

A friend of mine and I went for a long girls weekend and had a blast! The pool and ocean views from this unit are the best in the resort, hands down. We walked to town along the beach for breakfast, had happy hour at the swim up bar every afternoon and hit the thriving 5th avenue district for a late dinner and night clubbing every night. Plenty of fantastic restaurants, nice shops (mixed with the traditional fun tourist shops), water sports and site seeing things to do in the area. There were lots of couples and families as well, not party central like Cancun. Low key, with great service at the resort and in town. I highly recommend Fishermen's Resort and this unit in particular.

I'm a beach girl born and raised in Southern Calif. I moved to Colorado and felt land-locked so bought this gorgeous beachfront penthouse so I could always get my beach 'fix' when I needed it. I owned and ran a travel agency called Ocean Summit Travel for over a decade until a back injury forced me to sell my company last year. I specialized in Playa del Carmen, so I know all of the other complexes in Playa and things to do in the area. I don't mind giving advice, so feel free to write or call me.

Why they chose this property

I wanted to be able to get to my vacation home in a few hours of flight time from Denver. I'm not into the towering hotel scene like Miami Beach or Cancun. Playa del Carmen was the perfect blend of beautiful beaches, great shopping and restaurants and centrally located to see ruins, hop over to Cozumel on the ferry and great R & R above all. They limit the height of all the buildings to 3-4 stories so there are no high rises.

What makes this property unique

This is the ONLY Beachfront 1 BR penthouse in Playa Del Carmen after doing an extensive search online. (feel free to search for yourself) It's actually a 2 BR penthouse, but we can lock down the smaller 2nd bedroom so couples can enjoy the full oceanview from the master suite and the rest of the condo. Most other 1 Bedroom units have no ocean view from the bedroom. You can read reviews of this unit as a 2 BR on VRBO listing 306688
