About Pete Lawson

My brothers, sister and I were born and raised here and visit with our children year round. Unfortunately, we live in Florida and Boston, so we do not enjoy it as much as we would like. Instead of keeping it closed, we would like to share the home with other families to enjoy the area year round like we did growing up

Pete Lawson purchased this house in 1966

Why Pete Lawson chose Lake George

Quiet northern end of Lake George - perfect for gatherings of multiple family and friends.

What makes this house unique

Minutes from historical Ft. Ticonderoga, South Mountain directly across the street, Cooks Mountain, and a quick boat ride to Lake George Village

Gorgeous & Relaxing

  • 4 of 5

Beautiful home on the north end of Lake George. Lots of space to spread out if you are a big group. Would recommend for sure. The only complaint I would say is that the place is a bit dated on the inside in terms of the furniture & over all decor.

Northern Lake George surrounded by the Adirondack Mountains is truly beautiful!

  • 4 of 5

The camp is a lovely, quite large 1960's year round home completely furnished with linens, blankets, and all the kitchen items one needs. We did bring a crock pot and didn't see one there (but they might have one). All the rooms in the home are spacious and well furnished, including the bedrooms. The furniture is dated but adds character and charm and is comfortable with the exception of the beds. There is a huge yard with plenty of room for outside activities and parking. The dock accommodated two 19' power boats - one on each side. It is a bit challenging getting in with heavy winds and chop as there are rocks and it's quite shallow about 3' but once you get used to it, it's doable. The place came with lots of toys - 2 kayaks, blow up floaties, bikes, grill, volley ball nets, badminton, ping pong table in basement. Rated it only a 4 star because our only complaint is that all the Queen size beds need new box springs and mattresses and are really only Full size not Queen, we all had trouble sleeping on them as they were just too soft and bouncy. The Twin bed room could use new mattresses and box springs too. The bunk room was OK. The dining areas had nice views of the lake and docks from inside the house which we enjoyed. Would recommend the place as it has great privacy and is peaceful and quiet while still being on Lake George and is great having so many bathrooms and bedrooms. We went with about 12 of us and had plenty of room. Wonderful fire pit with the wind taking the smoke out towards the Lake every night!

Great time Great Place

  • 5 of 5

This was our first time at this property, and at Lake George. We (there were 13 of us ages 6 to 55, 4 separate families) had always vacationed together at Lake Bomoseen in Vt. The place we always stayed sold so we decided to try something different. It was a great decision. The house is plenty big for a lot of people. Even when we were all inside, which was very rare, we had plenty of room. The kitchen has more than ours at home. There is absolutely nothing missing. Pete is a great host. They supply towels, linens, paper products, soap and anything else from condiments to ice. It was like being at home. Walmart, rite aid and convienance gas stations are less than 4 miles away. Air conditioning in every bed room.

This is the north end of the lake (the very end) and is very quiet. We loved it. We had 2 21' boats tied to the dock, with no problems and also 2 jet skies anchored along the wall. There are some large rock ledges close to the dock and wall, and the water is kind of shallow so you needed to be careful with the boats and jet skis, but after a day or two it became second nature. We set up a couple of ez up canopies on the grass, horse shoes and spent a lot of time grilling and relaxing in the adirondak chairs pete provides. There is a full size garage which seemed to be a gathering place, just like at home, and was very convienent to store our boating and fishing supplies, and of course our coolers. There was also a full size extra refrigerator and chest freezer in the garage for us to use.

The lake at this end was very quiet which is what we like. We fished, boated, towed tubes and skiers, and jet skied all week without any issues. We found a cliff jump about a 15 minute boat ride from the house which the teenagers loved.

Resturaunts in the immediate area are not many, and close early, but was not an issue for us because we didn't plan on eating out too often. We did a lot of grilling. We took the ferry into vt. (about 10 minutes from the house) which was pretty cool. Lake george village (where the action is) was an hr. car ride from the house. Were told it was about an hr or more by boat too but too far for me with my boat. Went to the village one night, that was enough for us.

All in all this was a great place, and a great vacation. Pete is a wonderful host and we couldn't ask for more. It was like being at home. We look forward to returning again next year. Thanks Pete!

Nice quiet part of the lake.

  • 3 of 5

We enjoyed the property with exception to the following:

1.The mattresses in all 5 bedrooms need to be replaced. Everyone woke up sore every morning. This should be be addressed. the tenant should be advised of the bedding condition upfront.

2. Housekeeping should do a better job cleaning/clearing spider webs throughout the house.

Other than that we liked the property, plenty of space outside, fire pit etc.

Quiet Lake Getaway

  • 4 of 5

Our family of 10 quite enjoyed our stay here. The house was plenty spacious, the proximity to the water ideal, and the adirondack chairs on the lawn overlooking the lake were one of our favorite spots! This end of the lake is definitely quieter than the southern end, which makes it a great place to swim, kayak, fish, etc. Even the youngest kids were able to fish off the dock and catch something, which was pretty exciting for them! The weather ended up pretty warm during the week we were there, so having air conditioners in the bedrooms was especially good, since you couldn't feel too much of a breeze through the house. Thankfully, there were also several fans to help move air around.

The house and kitchen are well stocked with pretty much everything you need -- paper goods, kitchen items, etc, and it's also nice that there's an extra fridge in the garage -- easy access for drinks and things while you're outside. The decor could use a bit of updating, but our biggest suggestion for improvement is that all of the double bed mattresses need be replaced. By day 2, all of the adults in our group were aching, and as much as we enjoyed our stay, we were longing to come home to sleep in more supportive beds! The property is well cared for, and the caretaker met us on our arrival to make sure everything was in order and that we had what we needed. There's plenty of lawn around the house, so if you're so inclined, make sure you bring your fun lawn games to make use of the flat lawn that you don't get at too many lake houses! You may also get the chance to see some wildlife -- there was a porcupine that came through the apple orchard in front of the house several nights and also the occasional deer.

If you're like us and enjoy ice cream outings on vacation -- Stewarts Shops have very generous servings of hard ice cream with lots of flavors to choose from, and the Wind Chill Factory has huge servings of soft ice cream with flavors that vary from time to time. You're also about an hour away from Lake George Village where there are outlets, tons of shops and restaurants, mini golf places, water parks, etc, which you can easily enjoy for the day while stil enjoying a quieter place to return to.
