Stay at Trafton House, where all of our reviews have been Great Ones!

With Trafton House it was love at first sight! Like finding that perfect piece of antique furniture—only this was a whole house! And WE live most of the time on the opposite coast!
Trafton House and the gentle countryside and expansive beaches of southern Maine is where we go to rest and recharge our batteries, and when we're not there we like to share with others the pleasure of living in the graceful century-old Trafton House.
What we like about being in Sanford is living away from all of the clogged traffic of the Maine coast in summer, but still within easy reach of all those enjoyable sights, scenes, and activities.
Thank you so much for letting us rent your house in Sanford! The house was full of character, and we loved being there to enjoy it. Daniel, your concierge, did a fantastic job making sure everything was in order and made the whole process of arriving and leaving go very smoothly.
Thank you again for letting us enjoy your beautiful house while we were in Maine.
The house is lovely, takes you back to a time you dreamed you lived in! We had a family reception to attend so decided to stay for the week. The beach properties 30 minutes away were outrageously overpriced . Sanford is 30-40 minutes from lots of beaches and beautiful lakes are closer, all highway access .We got to take day trips easily and came home to a lovely comfortable home every night. The rooms are very large, nice porches comfortable furniture. The house is well stocked with all the necessities. The hosts were easily accessible and took care of everything. I will definitely stay here again when we visit Sanford.
Dear George and Tamara,
We would at awe, when first walked in to your beautiful mansion. The interior of the house was amazing and there was plenty of room for all eight of us. We will definitely recommend your place to family and friends.
Thank you so much for sharing with us the history of the house and it was a great joy meeting you both.
Have a great summer, and we hope some year we will be able to stay again there.
The McCartney,and Nelson family.
Thank you thank you thank you for being such warm and generous hosts. and for the use of your beautiful (underlined) Trafton House! Our large group never once felt cramped and the home itself felt so comfortable. Must be all the perfect touches you have all over the house. And the books! What a great collection! The kids also had a fantastic time exploring, taking in the beautiful fireworks, and sitting out front watching the 4th of July parade. Thank you for your part in our magical week in Maine!
This old house in downtown Sanford is beautifully restored and maintained. The owners' love for the house is clear in every physical detail, as well as in the verbal history they will share with you upon request.
For our group of four people, the house was huge -- plenty of space for us to spread out, as well as an enormous kitchen and dining room in which we could all gather and share meals together. The piano in the living room was a nice bonus, as we were able to spend some time playing music together.
The bedrooms are all spacious and comfortable, and ceiling fans and air conditioners kept us comfortable at night. The property is clean and well maintained and the owners were friendly and easy to work with.
We were traveling with an 8-year-old child, so favorite area attractions included Wonder Mountain Fun Park -- especially the human maze -- and bowling. We also enjoyed some longer excursions to Goose Rocks Beach in Kennebunkport (to watch the meteor shower) and Ogunquit Playhouse in Ogunquit. If we were to return, we would try to get there during the baseball season, since the Mainers' park is just down the street.
This home was perfect for our summer girlfriend reunion. We were able to rent from Thursday to Tuesday which is rare in the summer. There were 5 women getting together and this home provided enough space for each of us to have our own rooms and still come together to cook, dine, and catch up. The house is located very near many fabulous restaurants. The Dirty Dozen donut shop was the best ever! We were able to walk to the Saturday morning farmers market and not only purchased excellent produce, but met great people. On our 1 rainy day, we spent the afternoon at Get Fired Up--they are all incredibly helpful and very nice. All of George's recommendations were spot on. The beaches are only a quick drive and the house was great value. We would come back again.
We were looking for a house to rent in the ME/NH area for something less than a full week and we rented this home in Sanford ME for three days - just perfect. We had plans to visit Kennebunkport,ME and Durham NH where I would visit my grandfather in the summer time when I was growing up and go to the plays at Prescott Park in Portsmouth as well - all which was within driving distance. When we arrived we learned there was college baseball park in walking distance (perfect for my teenage son and we went to two games) and some great local restaurants nearby along with a donut shop that was a rival to a chain donut store. We also enjoyed the local farmers market in the nearby park that was also within walking distance on Saturday morning. We had a great time. Thank you!!!
Indulge your fantasy to live in a gorgeous restored Victorian home in a small New England mill town, close to numerous lakes, the Mousam River, white Atlantic Ocean beaches, rocky coast line, and convenient Amtrak service.
At the middle of York County, Trafton House is centrally located to all sites in Southern Maine and New Hampshire: 40 minute drives to historic and lively Portland, ME, and Portsmouth, NH; excellent antiquing and shopping nearby; fresh- and salt-water activities; amusement parks, Old Orchard Beach attractions, and Nubble Lighthouse at York Beach.
In June and July Sanford is the home of the Sanford Mainers, two-time champions of the New England collegiate baseball league. A two-block walk brings you to Goodall Stadium, where you can 'root-root-root for the home team' to blow off steam 2-3 nights a week.
Enjoy the town's restaurants, go up to Shaw's Ridge Farm for first-rate BBQ and their own delicious ice cream, or drive to the next town over, Springvale, ME and enjoy our favorite restaurant, the Bradford Block Bistro. And start your day with Dirty Dozen Donuts, just down the street.
A small forest makes one side of Trafton House feel as if you're in the woods when you wake up in the morning. Large windows in every room scoop in the sunlight.
