About Rick

My wife Sue and I moved into the Adirondacks in 2002 after living on the shores of Lake Champlain in Plattsburgh, NY for 10 years. Not a bad place to live at all but it was time for a change. We fell in love with the Adirondacks, and specifically 'Ausable Acres' on our first visit. You will too. It is quiet, wooded with wildlife everywhere.

Rick purchased this cabin in 2006

Why Rick chose Whiteface Mountain

We purchased the undeveloped lot in 2004 and completed our log home in 2006. We are very proud of ourselves :) We take great satisfaction in the complements we get from our most wonderful past guests.

What makes this cabin unique

The Cayuga Cabin is completely furnished. The kitchen is equipped with all pots, pans, utensils right down to coffee filters and dish-washing detergent. All linens and towels are provided as is toilet paper, paper towel and tissues along with bottled hand soap. There is a washer & dryer and detergent in the 2nd bathroom. All you need to bring are clothes & food! We also have an outdoor shower and provide wood for the woodstove and outdoor firepit.

Not so new

  • 4 of 5

The description of this property is not accurate! This is not a brand new cottage as the description claims, there is obvious wear and tear especially in the kitchen area. There was a cabinet door under the sink that keep falling off the hinge, sometimes the microwave would turn on sometimes not, it was advertised that the refrigerator had an ice maker, did not. The gas grill was in terrible condition, which the owner did replace while we were there after we called the owner and asked him to. The towels were about thread bare with only three washcloths available. The cleanliness also was not satisfactory. We only stay in VRBO properties while traveling and this was the first property we were not pleased with.

Great jumping off point to see the North Country

  • 5 of 5

This cottage is centrally located in the "North Country" of the Adirondacks and is a great home base to day trip out to various ADK locales. It basically 30mins to an hour from everything there is no see in the Adirondacks. Located in a wooded setting, It has all the amenities needed to make your stay enjoyable. The place was clean easy to find and all around a good deal for our family of 6. I would recommend to any one needing a comfortable cottage to stay in the North Country.

Perfect vacation cabin

  • 5 of 5

My husband, my sister and I spent a wonderful week in the cabin mid October. It was awesome! The leaves were in their brilliant fall colors and we even saw snow on the weekend, which being from Florida, I loved. The cabin had everything we needed and it was spotless when we arrived. The owners took care of everything right down to laundry detergent. The cabin was very easy to find and close to a number of places we had fun driving to. I would highly recommend renting this cabin for anyone wanting to get away and enjoy a peaceful, relaxing time in the beauty of the surrounding woods.

Beautiful cottage in peaceful location . . .

  • 5 of 5

My teenage girls and I visited 'Cayuga Cabin' last week, and we all had a great time! The owners were extremely accommodating. The cabin was clean and just what we needed . . . . to get away from the craziness life brings us all! The ONLY things we had to bring was our food, clothing and ourselves!! Owners furnished EVERYTHING from paper towels to laundry detergent, from towels to hand soap! We explored the area through the raindrops! Several attractions SO close by . . tons to do from hiking to miniature golf to shopping. We enjoyed the beautiful and breathtaking Adirondacks along with High Falls Gorge, Whiteface Mountain, and Lake Placid. We traveled to the Town of Jay (short drive) and found pizza place and Tops Grocery store for anything we forgot to bring. Thank you Rick and Sue for sharing your beautiful cottage . . . . my family had a great time - even between the raindrops!

Perfect getaway!

  • 5 of 5

We had an absolutely wonderful time at the Cayuga Cabin. It was so cozy, clean, spacious and secluded. Everything we were looking for this cabin offered. There are plenty of restaurants within a short drive as well as fun things to do. Rick was so accommodating, I couldn't have asked for more. We will defiantly return!
