Why Ken and Laura Scheidegger chose Sea Ranch
Over the years the family has enjoyed The Sea Ranch and all of the joys that come with it. From Ab Diving to Golf ... the Scheideggers have built wonderful memories from their time at The Sea Ranch. The location of The Pelican House is one of the first developed and represents the best that The Sea Ranch has to offer. Busy lives have kept the family from visiting the house and it is time to share with others what they have so enjoyed over the years.
What makes this House unique
One of the finest locations in Sea Ranch! Only nature lies between you and the beautiful cliffs and majestic ocean of the The Sea Ranch coast. The Ocean Front Hiking Trail is seconds from the front door and the golf course is minutes away. The setting and layout of the property and house allow you to feel as though it is you and the Sea with nothing in between but indigenous grasses, plants, deer, and the occasional fox! Enjoy a cup of tea or glass of wine on the spacious and open deck as you take in your unobstructed view of the ocean. Particularly in March and October, you will most likely see the grand whale migration! Pelicans effortlessly soar above the coastline inspiring a feeling of peace and serenity - we hope you will find this same feeling when you visit The Pelican House.

Great location, beautiful and quiet
Wonderful place that is cozy and well located in Sea Ranch
We had a great time. Nice layout and sooo close to the bluff trail. House was a bit outdated but fine for our purposes. There are a couple of opportunities.... no dishwasher soap, so we had to wash dishes by hand. We tried to wash all the sheets before we left, but the washer took over an hour and the second load didn’t get done in time for our checkout. Hope to come back soon
Thanks for your feedback. I was very surprised when I spoke with you regarding the lack of dishwashing detergent as the house is always very well equipped. The cleaning lady assured me that there is dishwashing detergent, small pods in a small container under the kitchen sink. Regarding the washing machine, it is in great shape but (as most machines do) has different cycles that vary in length of time. It is best if guests leave it to the cleaning people to wash the linens. You were there to enjoy :-)
pretty home, great view
We spent a lovely weekend at the Pelican House. The house is very pretty, the beds comfortable. The rug is spotty in the main living area, but the main reason for only 4 stars is the stove. It's at least 50 years old and the oven seal has failed making it unusable. Replace the stove and it's 5 stars all the way!
The Pelican House now has a brand new stove!
Wonderful Property with Great views
The house was really nicely laid out. Great master bathroom with the dual shower. Everything was clean and neat - really well stocked kitchen and while some supplies were listed as not being there - many were there (BBQ tools were there for example). Great place to make a base - great walking, great views from both bedrooms though we didn’t use the 2nd one. The house itself is likely going to need some updating soon - fresh carpet especially in living room - we’d stay again here. My service dog hopped over the deck though - should be higher but likely HOA rules decide that. Could have nicer furniture outside - we didn’t see the table in the picture on the deck and the plastic Adirondack chairs aren’t super comfy. Really nice to have enclosed yard too. Super place - responsive owners.
A Quiet Gem w/ Character
Frequent The Sea Ranch and have rented lots of places - usually homes that are at the end of the street on the tip of the bluff. Being spoiled by those, I was a little nervous, but this house is perfect for a quiet little weekend and they big kicker in my book is views and hearing the ocean - this place has both. Yeah yeah there are lots of fancy places to rent for 5x the price and that's cool too, but honestly this place has character, is super, clean , beds are 5-star, and just like so many homes in TSR you feel that awesome sense of isolation and peace, even though you question the distance to your neighbor. Someday my wife and I hope to own a little place in TSR, but this house provided the perfect long weekend "fix". And not to mention the owners are super responsive and down to earth. We had a super chill few nights - thank you!
A Great Getaway!
Sea Ranch is a great place to get away for some down time, and Pelican House is a cozy place to stay. Whether sitting by the fireplace relaxing or watching whales spout and feed from the living room window we enjoyed our long weekend! Hiking trails along the coast are easily accessible from the house and the views are beautiful. Trinks café and St Orres restaurant in Gualala are two places to definitely check out for some good food! Ken and Laura were attentive hosts and we are already trying to decide when to return!
The Sea Ranch is a uniquely beautiful resort town made up of private homes along the Northern California Coast. The small town of Gualala is only minutes away and is is filled with local artists' galleries, restaurants, and other varied shops and attractions.. Sea Ranch offers many amenities such as golf, swimming, hiking trails with stunning views. It offers a great base camp for those looking for world class abalone diving.
