The Citrus House Lush 1930s Spanish Estate in the Movie Colony Walk to Downtown

The Citrus House is named for its many fragrant citrus trees, whose blossoms flood the grounds with their sweet scents during the spectacular spring months. There is a magical wonder about the house that one has to simply bask in to believe. Once owned by Darryl Zanuck, founder of 20th Century Fox, the Citrus House is a peaceful and comfortable oasis just steps from the wonderful downtown shopping and delicious restaurants. A word of warning though...it can be a tough property to leave :)

The comfortably charming main house features two large master bedroom suites. Through a short hallway off the beautifully appointed kitchen, the cozy bunk room (sleeps 4) includes a full bathroom, as well as it's own HD television. The Citrus House also offers 3 guest casitas, each with their own entrance - and each with a full bathroom, HD television, and tastefully designed furnishings. The three casitas are part of a separate structure which also features a view deck, where one can take in the majestic beauty of Mt. San Jacinto and the surrounding peaks.

The Citrus House includes a gourmet, state-of-the-art kitchen, ideal for entertaining and perfect for large gatherings. The large swimming pool and private jacuzzi are surrounded by comfortable designer outdoor furnishings. A large, covered, custom built wooden dining table provides an ideal setting for outdoor meals. Additional amenities include a traditional Bocci Ball court with nighttime lighting, an old steel cauldron outdoor fire pit circled by comfortable padded seating, a covered outdoor fireplace, a brand new outdoor pizza oven, a BBQ grill, 7 beach cruiser bikes, and 1 tandem bike. 1/1

Thanksgiving at Citrus House

My crowd of family and friends loved the Citrus house. The grounds were beautiful and the house wam and comfortable. And it s location could not have been better.It was perfect for our Thanksgiving gathering We would highly recommend it to all.Thank you to the owners and the manager for a wonderful time.

We absolutely loved the Citrus House for our group of 6 women. A bedroom and private bathroom for each of us, spacious well-equipped kitchen, and gorgeous grounds! Excellent location walking since to all downtown attractions, and very responsive hosts.

Annual Girls Trip

Amazing property - as others have said, the pictures do not do it justice! From the fruit trees to the casitas and multiple outdoor sitting areas we didn’t want to leave. Very walkable to restaurants and used the many bikes to tour neighborhoods. Absolutely loved our stay!

We took a quick trip to Palm Springs for 4 nights in February. Weather wasn't great but sun came out so that we could enjoy the pool. Three of the bedrooms/baths are in a separate building which worked great for our group and people who wanted more privacy.

Golf Getaway

Great spot for up to 6 adults. Clean, many outside areas to gather. Fire pit, hot tub, pool, bocci court and patio dining. Kitchen is fully stocked with all necessary supplies. Right of main street downtown Palm Springs. Many restaurants and bars nearby.

Mom's 90th Birthday Celebration

The Citrus House was the perfect house for my Mom's 90 Birthday celebration. The house is stunning and the grounds are beyond stunning. It's in a great location, so there is a little road noise, but you can barely notice while enjoying the oasis of the front yard and pool. We thoroughly enjoyed the pool, jacuzzi, and bocce ball court. The beds are very comfortable and the house has everything you could think of. The property manager, Silvia, was amazing, I'd give her 6 stars. if possible. She was very helpful, responsive and did everything to make our stay the best possible. Would definitely stay here again.

Annual Trip to the Citrus House!

We love staying at this beautiful property. It is a gorgeous home with well appointed rooms and a full stocked kitchen. It really is like staying at your own private resort; beautiful grounds, citrus trees, the large private pool, hot tub, bikes, bocce ball court, fire pit, outdoor pizza oven. Plenty of room to spread out and close to downtown. Owners and house manager are great with communication. Booking soon for next year. Thanks again for an amazing stay.

Perfect Oasis

This was the perfect spot for our group of 9 women on our annual girls weekend trip (new city every year). The property was as described (no surprises). The location was excellent! Close and convenient to everything. The pool and jacuzzi were inviting. More than enough space to hang out and have fun but also have some private time if need be. I would highly recommend!!

Reunion

This is a beautiful and charming property in the old and historic part of PS. The environs are like a secluded spa with beautiful flowers, trees, pool, sitting and lounging areas outside. The bedrooms are spacious. Kitchen and dining areas inside and out are perfect. The only downside is the house is on a very busy corner. Traffic noise is loud. It didn’t spoil it for us.

Extended Weekend

The Citrus House was fabulous, perfect for an extended weekend for our family of 6. Conveniently located to some of the best shops and restaurants in the desert. We enjoyed the beautiful tiled pool and comfortable lounge chairs, bocce ball, we biked, played tennis nearby, hiked to waterfalls, enjoyed outdoor meals in the garden and all watched MBA playoffs in the comfortable living room. The house was clean and comfortable, and so well equipped. The fresh citrus everyday was a real treat. We can’t wait to return.

Incredible yard!

Pictures online can’t accurately depict the beauty of the outdoor area of this home. It is stunning and we enjoyed as much time outdoors as possible. Despite temps in the 100’s, there are many covered areas that stayed cool and the pool is lovely. Hot tub wonderful as well. Property owner was incredibly responsive to questions or needs while we were there. The home is lovely as well-each bedroom has everything the guest would need and the kitchen is perfectly equipped. Our group of 6 friends could not have been happier. Proximity to downtown is a few minutes but still a quiet neighborhood. Beautiful park within a quarter mile that we all enjoyed as well.

Gorgeous Property and Well Stocked

The house and grounds were very well maintained and well stocked. The furnishing and design details were beautifully curated. The owner and housekeeper were very responsive. It would be fantastic for an event or party. The Movie Colony location of this home made walking to town to eat and shop easy. Nevertheless, due to location there is loud and distracting road noise in the house's 2 main bedrooms. Additionally, members of our group who used the queen bedrooms in the separate building complained of mildew smell.

Magic!

From the minute you enter the gate, everything about Citrus House is absolutely magic! There were 13 of us ranging from 6 to 55 and we all loved it! It's a perfect gathering place for friends and family. Plenty of space and activities, and the house and grounds "absorb people" beautifully - even with a large group. And it's so well appointed! Not only gorgeous, but we found everything we could want or need, even with a lot of cooking. (No one wanted to go out for meals. It was too wonderful to even think about leaving even though it really is close to everything!) And the management company could not have been more helpful or accommodating through every step of the process. Bottom line - we all want to go back as soon as possible. As one who has rented a lot of beautiful homes, this is truly at the top of the list!

Unique slice of paradise

Agree with other reviewers. Pictures don’t do this property justice. It’s a really unique, one of a kind property. The outdoor space is lush and resort like with lots of comfortable seating thoughtfully placed with lighting and activities. Perfect for many uses - families, bachelorette parties, couples, retreats. House is centrally located within walking distance to restaurants, coffee shops, and bars. The inside is comfortably furnished and feels warm and welcoming with lots of charm and unique design features. The only thing to note is if you are staying during the high summer temps the house is old and not very energy efficient. The AC units in the casitas could use updating. Main house bedrooms didn’t get very cold except for the bunk room which had a modern split. The property ran warmer than expected but the outdoor space is so amazing, it 100% makes up for it. I would definitely stay again during a cooler month. Highly Recommend!

Nice house but issues

Very nice property with three casitas. It's located on a Main Street so you get a lot of street noise while outside in the pool. House was not very clean upon arrival and had issues with the air conditioning all weekend not cooling the house down. Making it very difficult to cook meals inside since it would be unbearable. Was charged extra fees from management for cleaning out a fire pit and " extra cleaning fees" when the house it self wasn't clean ie (bugs and dust in rooms)on arrival and no instructions to not use a Fire pit to burn wood at night. Don't think it was worth the money for sure

Perfect for Our Family Gathering

Wow. The Citrus House was PERFECT for us. We had our family of 7 adults, 4 children and a baby gather for visiting, swimming, eating and playing in the park Thanksgiving weekend. The main house, bunk bed room and 3 casita rooms, each with bath, provided space for everyone's privacy. The house and outdoors have spacious gathering places for the whole gang. The kitchen was well stocked with every pot, pan and utensil you could think of plus spices and other condiments. We cooked meals all weekend and entertained some local family members easily. The outdoor spaces are beautifully kept and pool and hot tub - Perfect. The kids enjoyed picking fruit too. Fortunately Palm Springs has beautiful weather most of the time, to enjoy the outdoors. We had a little rain and cool evenings, so enjoyed the well-working fireplaces as well. An easy trip to the park was a must after those meals.The place is beautifully maintained. Malia, Sylvia and Salvador are exceptionally easy to work with - kind and good people. The family is begging to stay again.

The host and the housekeeper were very welcoming and the communications were easy. We got in much later than expected and the housekeeper waited for us to arrive. The house is lovely and comfortable. Everyone had their own bedroom and bathroom. We did a lot of cooking and tthe kitchen has every piece of equipment you could possibly need. Great location. Beautiful yard and house.
