About the property

Cottage, 1 Bedroom, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 2)

Nestled among the redwoods of Cazadero, Gravenstein Cottage is located in the oasis of Elim Grove, on the grounds of the award-winning Raymond's Bakery – the perfect place to unwind and enjoy Sonoma County.

The owners provide a warm, appetizing atmosphere in this undiscovered woodland paradise along tranquil Austin Creek, only 20 minutes from Guerneville, Russian River wineries, or the Pacific Ocean.

Decompress from the stresses of everyday life in the front room on a comfy six foot antique couch beside a real wood stove. Or refresh yourself with a hot shower under the bathroom skylight. Relax in the queen bed watching the golden varigated leaves of bamboo sway gently in the breeze outside your window.

The cottage is only a stone's throw from Austin Creek swimming hole. Wake up to the bubbling of the creek, take a plunge, enjoy strolls along nearby trails, play bocce, relax under the gazebo and nap in the garden room or under the Gravenstein apple tree. Share a romantic evening in front of the stove or by the campfire. There is also a microwave and fridge for your convenience.

For larger groups of up to 17 persons, book Gravenstein Cottage together with Creekside Cottage, Paradise Grove Cottage, Elim Cottage, Baker's Loft – all located on the grounds near the bakery.

'We stayed a few nights with Mark and Elizabeth, and all I can say is they are the best hosts ever. . .Our daughter loved the little playground next to the bakery, it was also a plus that Mark offered a stroller which we forgot at home. Every morning a hot breakfast was provided and it was delicious!'

About Mark Weiss

Nine years ago my wife and I fell in love with an abandoned restaurant with four tired cottages on three acres of wild blackberries and old growth redwoods on Austin Creek. It has been an exhausting/exhilarating labor of love that has enriched our lives in more ways than we ever imagined. We hope that you will enjoy it as much as we have!

Mark Weiss purchased this cottage in 2002

Why Mark Weiss chose Sonoma County

Come stay with us and benefit from the tranquility and beauty of Austin Creek with majestic Old Growth redwoods towering above. Relax and unwind in our little corner of paradise.

Our Cottages are located on the grounds of award-winning Raymond’s Bakery. While you are here, you are welcome to enjoy an afternoon in the garden, take a stroll along Austin Creek, play bocce, relax under the gazebo or nap under the Gravenstein apple tree. In the evenings you can unwind by the campfire.

What makes this cottage unique

We own and are the bakers at Raymond's Bakery Bed & Breakfast just a three minute walk around the redwoods. So be ready for some gold-medal baked goodies to welcome you to our corner of paradise. We can also share the secrets of a few swimming holes and where to find the best skipping stones.

A wonderful reminder of the better parts of life

  • 5 of 5

It's hard not to feel rejuvenated when you're surrounded by the smell of fresh baked bread and enormous redwoods and Raymond's Bakery. Mark, the owner, goes above and beyond to make you feel like home, and it's amazing to witness the community he built around loving and feeding others.

I can't wait to visit again, sitting over a campfire discussing life with the other guests in Cazadero.

Rustic charmer with a down home, small town appeal.

  • 5 of 5

Our stay was delightful. The cottage was nicely appointed with a mixture of new and vintage. However the room was not the highlight. Mark, our energetic and gracious host with his superb baking skills made for an outsanding over night get away. Friday night pizza, beer and wine, and freshly baked desserts accompanied by a local jazzy/blues band were the perfect end to a long day at Goat Rock Beach. Saturday morning breakfast did not disappoint, freshly baked breads, luscious chocolate croissant's, apple turnovers and copious amounts of coffee all in a low key serve yourself, get to know your fellow travelers environment. Put your watching carbs diet away and indulge!!

Delightful weekend! The cabin was very clean and had soulful and fun cabin decor. Mark is a wonderful host with the magical ability to direct you to the best wine tastings and hiking trails! His breakfast fresh roasted coffee and pick of bakery was priceless. Only topped by a delicious pizza and very fun band in Friday night, under a 1,200 year old Redwood tree!! I can't say enough about how it was the perfect spot for a cool romantic get away! Two thumbs up plus!!

A unique experience in the redwoods

  • 4 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay. Mark and everyone we met were friendly and accommodating. And those pastries . . . superb. Always looked forward to the next breakfast and what may appear. Maybe if you're lucky you'll also get to experience grilled homemade pizza.
