About Marie M. Hall

I was born in Texas then moved to the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains in North Carolina. During this time, my father, a Vietnam veteran, was serving in the Army’s Special Forces. I grew up in Buncombe County where the family home had been established in the late 1800s. I have lived in North Dakota, California, Idaho, Washington State and Australia. As a missionary nurse, I have traveled to Peru, Guatemala, Indonesia, and Australia. I have three border collies-PRINCESS Kenai, Shammy and Healy, Coxie-the rooster and his nine hens, and some minx cats that enjoy my family farm with me.

Marie M. Hall purchased this cabin in 1985

Why Marie M. Hall chose Smoky Mountains

This is a family inheritance which I am privileged to own. I want you to share with me in this experience of beauty and solitude. No city lights, just God's heavenly stars. A bird watchers sanctuary and great hiking.

What makes this cabin unique

Completely private, peaceful, relaxing experience. Claw footed tub (Hillbilly Hot Tub) on front porch with modern amenities. A bubbling mountain brook flows continuously beside the unique cabin.

So peaceful - So cozy !!!

  • 5 of 5

This little cabin in the woods is a huge delight. My husband and I stayed for a few days and did not want to leave. The cabin is just secluded enough to be quite and peaceful but not too secluded that you cannot get to where you want to go quickly!

The cabin had everything we needed, it was clean and so comfortable. Have no fears about booking. Marie was very welcoming and made sure that we were well taken care of. Princess was a wonderful companion on our walks.

We hope to return some day!!!

We stayed in this adorable cabin for 6 nights. What a great place to return to after a day of hiking and exploring! LOVED the front porch and cast iron bathtub! Will definitely stay again when we return to the area. Marie is a gracious hostess, enjoyed meeting her briefly. Also loved the visits from Princess the border collie!

Wonderful Experience!

  • 5 of 5

Ideal cabin for a getaway in the Mountains near Asheville. Peaceful and Relaxing. My brother and I stayed Friday-Sunday. We hiked off the the Blue Ridge Pkwy and spent the rest of the time lounging on the front porch. We talked until late in the night with only the sound of the crickets in the background. The tub on the front porch added a special touch. Maria is a wonderful host. She stopped by and we enjoyed the conversation. The cabin is equipped with everything needed for a Great time. We will be back.

Beautiful private setting

  • 5 of 5

To celebrate our 21st wedding anniversary, we were looking for a peaceful, private location to relax and focus on each other. Star Haven did not disappoint! The beauty and quiet fed our souls and we especially loved relaxing on the front porch. The cabin was well equipped for our needs and the owner very nice to work with. Definitely will be recommending this and hopefully be back soon!
